Lewis Residence at Country B
The next morning, Kimmy woke up early. It was going to be her first day at work.
"It's not like you're really going to work, Kimmy but this is a payment for what you did a long time ago. Make the best of those three months. This is nothing compared to what happened to uncle Daniel so make sure to be patient and just serve Cain well." Kimmy cheered herself in front of her full-size mirror.
She soon left and took only a cab going to the Lewis' residence. The butler greeted her, "Sir Cain already informed us that you will come. Please wait for him and Sir Daniel at the dining area."
Kimmy nodded in response and followed the butler who introduced himself on their way. She learned that his name was Butler Benny.
Uncle Daniel was already there sitting on his usual seat at the dining area, reading the newspaper.
"Good morning uncle!" Kimmy greeted as she approached him and gave him a warm hug before adding a cheek-to-cheek kiss. He was startled to see her in the place and upon noticing, she quickly informed, "I will work with Cain from today onwards as his personal assistant so expect to see me more often from now on, uncle."
Daniel ended up frowning upon hearing her words. "Oh... but you are... overqualified for... this kind of job... Kimmy."
Kimmy could not help but pity the old man who was struggling in delivering a simple sentence. It was so unlike him when she last saw him… Back then, he was a cheerful and very bubbly man. Even if uncle Daniel said that she was not responsible and what happened to him, she still could not help but feel guilty.
She laughed. "I'm not overqualified, uncle. I don't even know yet what I want to do with my life. I honestly enjoy working as a bodyguard but I can't pursue that in this country right now, so in the meantime…
While I'm still not decided, being Cain's personal assistant is the safest choice instead of just staying at my apartment and wasting precious time. And to be honest, I also want to make up to Cain for what happened last time. I feel like I owe him too much that simple things like this won't be enough."
Daniel's face lit up when a sudden thought entered his mind but he quickly brushed it off since he did not want to misinterpret things and then just get disappointed. Although, he would not hide the fact that he was somehow hoping things would turn out good for the two.
After that runaway bride incident, he witnessed how his son felt so devastated that he chose to get himself busy with work to forget what happened. He could also tell that Cain had a trauma which caused him not to avoid dating other women after what happened.
Kimmy could be the reason why his son seemed to have lost interest in dating. Now that Kimmy was back, he assumed that she could be the one to help heal his son as well.
"Hmm... I'm not sure what's going on... right now, dear... but do tell me if my son is... mistreating you... I will be the one to deal with him," Daniel said with a smile.
"Deal with me? You sound like I will do something bad, dad. I'm hurt. Why are you so biased toward Kimmy? For all we know, she has the tendency to hurt me instead and not the other way around."
Upon hearing Cain's low voice, she turned to look at his serious face. He entered the area and casually sat beside his father, opposite her. She quickly pulled out her gaze from him when she felt another weird sensation growing in her chest. How did he manage to look dashing in his simple, tight-fitting button-down shirt and pants? He looked cute wearing sneakers too.
She shook her head in the hope to erase such thoughts. She was not happy with how she was reacting. It was like his presence was affecting her.
"You're early. Let's eat first before we leave," Cain nonchalantly commented. They had breakfast together. She had a great conversation with uncle Daniel like how she used to. although she tried to lessen their conversation when she noticed that he was having a hard time talking. Aside from that, she found some of his words difficult to understand.
After breakfast, they bid their farewell to uncle Daniel. Cain ordered her to follow Butler Benny to the garage. The butler led her to the parking area. "Sir Cain has given you permission to choose whatever car you are comfortable to ride with."
She looked at the cars that were lined up in the garage. There were many luxurious cars that one would envy to have. She decided to choose the black one that she saw him driving often. Butler Benny gave her the key after she had made her choice.
She entered the car and drove it to the main door where Cain was already waiting for her.
He was not moving from his spot so she got out of the car and grunted, "Seriously? You want me to open the door for you?"
Cain smirked and retorted, "why not? You said you will serve me well so… I expect to be pampered by you."
Kimmy rolled her eyes and mused in her mind, "I knew it. He will make my life a living hell. He was only nice to me because I was his patient yesterday!!"
With a pout, she opened the door and waited for him to get inside. Afterwards, she closed the door and walked back to the other side. She was about to put on her seatbelt when she suddenly heard Cain cough once to gain her attention.
She turned at him and hissed, "What?"
"You forgot my seatbelt," he reminded her with a straight face.
Kimmy scowled at him but decided not to speak anymore. She leaned forward to his side to pull the seat belt. She was frantically holding her breath the moment his manly scent entered her nostrils.
'Damn!' Kimmy inwardly cursed as she tried her best to avoid looking at Cain's face. She immediately locked the seatbelt and sat properly on her seat.
'Focus on driving!" she silently scolded herself as she stepped on the gas to drive.
"You have to remember to do this every time we go in and out of the car. I want full quality service, Kimmy," Cain reminded while they were on the road. He eyed her before he added, "I expect you to initiate doing things and not wait for me to remind you about it. Remember, full and quality service to make me satisfied."
"Got it, Master!" she grunted.
Cain exhaled loudly before he asked, "Are you mad? You should be smiling. Be courteous. I prefer to hear a soft and sweet tone whenever you speak to me. Also, just call me Cain -- with the way I wanted it."
"Yes, Cain. I got you well," Kimmy said in her sweetest tone. She looked at him and flashed him a poker smile.
"Good. Now focus on the road."
