Since Cain had already told Kimmy that she would be moving in his place, they were on their way to her apartment to pick up her things.
Kimmy was quietly driving the car, she was obviously in a bad mood ever since Cain told her that he would control all her time during the months she was going to be under him.
Noticing that Kimmy was giving him a silent treatment, he opened his mouth to say something, "I'm hungry, let's pass by and take out some food."
Her brow twitched. "Aren't we supposed to have our dinner together with uncle Daniel?"
"Father won't wait since he already knew that my work can usually end late. I'm sure it'll take time for you to pack up your things so we should just order some food."
Kimmy pursed her lips into a straight line. "Where do you want to take out food then?"
Cain told her about the restaurant. After they bought their food, she drove straight to her place.
"You can eat while waiting for me," she told him as she placed the take-out boxes on the table.
"You should join me," Cain suggested.
She groaned inwardly. "Didn't you say earlier that it would take time for me to pack? I can just eat once we arrive at your place, sir."
"No, I want you to eat with me right now." He crossed his arms as he narrowed his eyes on her. "Also, haven't I told you to call me by my name instead?"
She balled her fists tightly as she bit her lower lip as she frowned at him.
"And to smile at me," he added.
This time, Kimmy nonchalantly rolled her eyes in front of him. "Right. I should listen to my master."
"Kimberly," Cain warned.
Thump!
She felt her heart jump in excitement when she heard her full name from him. She never thought that her name could be so beautiful when he was the one who said it.
'No! No Kimmy, calm down!' She scolded her inner self. What was even happening to her? She shouldn't be affected by him. She should steel herself against him. She turned her gaze at him and flashed him an empty smile. "Yes, Cain?"
The side of his lips twitched upon seeing her reaction. He obviously didn't like it since it didn't look so natural. "Let's just eat already." He turned away from her.
She sighed inwardly and went to join him on the table. Kimmy knew that he would probably order her around, asking her to serve her the food so before he could even say a word, she opened his food and served it to him. She even handed him the spoon and fork.
'I hope you choke!' She thought as she flashed him another plain smile. "Enjoy."
Cain seemed to be pleased when he saw Kimmy voluntarily do her work without him needing to say a word.
She was sitting opposite, in front of him. As she began eating her food with him, she would glance at him from time to time as if waiting for something to happen. Hmm, maybe she should say something to catch him off-guard?
"You're one of the attractive people I know," Kimmy calmly said as she watched him eat, timing it perfectly just so she could finally get her revenge.
Sadly, the man didn't react the way she expected him to be. He lifted his gaze to her and with a brow raised he replied, "only one of them?"
Kimmy ended up choking on her saliva the moment she heard his response.
Cain instantly filled his glass with water before he handed it to her. "Are you alright?"
She gulped down the drink in one go before she slammed the glass down on the table. "Fucking piece of shit…" he muttered under her breath. What she wanted was for him to choke, not her!
"You should eat slowly," he told her.
She had an 'are you serious?' look written on her face. She didn't choke because of the food, it was her saliva! Just how unlucky was she that day?
"I should start packing my things." Kimmy didn't have an appetite anymore so she stood up from her seat and went to her room. Cain didn't stop her this time.
Kimmy didn't have many things with her. She pulled her wheeled luggage and brought it to the car.
While they were on their way back to Cain's place this time, Kimmy reminded him about what she told him earlier. "My mom can't find out that I am here, okay?"
"I know."
"You have to tell uncle Daniel," Kimmy continued.
"You don't have to repeat it twice. Once is enough."
Arriving at the mansion, upon entering, they were greeted by Cain's dad. "Cain, Kimmy, welcome back!" He noticed the luggage that Kimmy was dragging behind her. "That is…"
"Kimmy will be staying here in the meantime, dad. It will be more convenient if she is within reach," Cain explained.
Daniel's eyes lit up upon hearing his son's words. He was obviously delighted by what he said. He didn't have to ask the reason behind it. All that mattered was that Kimmy would be staying with them. "Are you alright with staying here?"
Kimmy nodded and smiled warmly at him. "It's fine uncle. At least I can see you every day from now on."
Uncle Daniel chuckled, "oh you, you don't have to flutter me, child."
Kimmy's genuine smile didn't escape Cain's eyes. It was so different from all the smiles she had been expressing to him that day.
"Have you eaten your dinner already?" Uncle Daniel asked.
"Yes, we had already eaten on our way, uncle." She eyed Cain. "I should probably head now to my room so that I can start unpacking my things?"
Cain had already messaged the butler earlier so that he could prepare the room that Kimmy would be using. "He'll lead you to your room."
She nodded a bit. "Cain." She was looking meaningfully at him as if reminding him about what she said earlier.
"I know."
"Thank you…" she flashed him a small grateful smile before she went and followed the butler to her room.
