If Kimmy had difficulty sleeping last night because she was still new in the place, Cain was much worse than her since he didn't sleep at all.
Dark circles were visible under his big eye bags. He looked like a panda, at least a very gorgeous panda.
He was still yawning as he walked downstairs. His head was throbbing because of the absence of sleep last night. This was all because of Kimmy!
'Argh, her first night in this house already gave me trouble. She is indeed a troublemaker!' Cain lamented to himself as he glared at Kimmy who was happily conversing with his father.
Cain joined them in the dining area for breakfast. He pulled a chair on the right side of his father but opposite to Kimmy.
"Good morning, son!" Daniel greeted his son with a gentle look in his eyes.
Cain returned his greetings with a faint smile. "Good morning, Dad."
Then he turned to look at Kimmy with a neutral expression on his face. She just gave him a simple nod to acknowledge his presence before moving her gaze back to her plate.
She was still chewing her food so she didn't bother saying a word to Cain. But little did she know that her silence just made Cain feel annoyed.
Well, Cain was always sensitive and could easily get affected by her simple actions. He couldn't understand why he was like this when it came to her.
Was it only because of the past grudges he had for her or there was something more to it?
Cain just decided to ignore Kimmy's presence as he started to eat his breakfast. Only his father, Daniel, bothered to talk to Kimmy and asked her how her stay was in the house.
"How was your first night here, Kimmy? Did you sleep well?"
A small smile formed in the corner of her lips before nodding her head.
"I'm fine, Uncle. Though I had a hard time sleeping, I eventually drifted off to sleep by dawn. But don't worry, Uncle. It's just natural because I am not yet used to my new room," Kimmy said, reassuring Cain's father.
"My body will be able to adjust soon," she further added.
"Cough! Cough!"
On the other hand, Cain choked on his food at the mention of the word 'body' as a certain memory of last night flashed in his mind. It was the very same reason he was not able to sleep last night… because of her 'body'.
"Hey, son? Are you okay? Slow down with your food."
"Y-Yes, Dad. I'm okay," Cain plainly answered, not looking in Kimmy's direction.
After breakfast, Kimmy and Cain bid their farewell to Daniel as they would go to work now. Kimmy was Cain's driver and at the same time, his personal assistant.
She was wearing her usual black lady suit attire. This was her comfortable get-up whenever she was working as a lady bodyguard of Kenzie.
The two of them left the house together, walking side by side. They both walked towards the car. Since Kimmy was now his driver, Cain waited for her to open the car door for him.
Kimmy was already standing at the driver's side and was about to enter the car when she noticed Cain stop in his tracks.
She turned to him with a questioning gaze.
"Hey, Sir. Why are you still standing there? I thought you hated being late? Come on! Hop in!"
Kimmy even gestured her hand, signaling him to walk over.
But Cain crumpled his face and a deep frown appeared on his forehead. He raised his hand, pointing his finger at the car door of the front passenger seat.
At that certain moment, Kimmy realized the main reason he hadn't moved yet from his current position.
"Damn. This scumbag really wants me to serve him like royalty. I am the one who has royal blood here! Not him." Kimmy murmured in annoyance.
"I can hear you. Just open the car door for me. Now!" Cain blatantly ordered Kimmy.
Kimmy rolled her eyes skyward before stomping her feet going to the opposite side. She finally opened the car door for him.
"Yes, Master! Here… please come inside now," Kimmy said half-heartedly, gesturing her hand for him to enter.
Cain just smirked at her while lifting an eyebrow. He finally moved, stepping into the car.
Soon he settled down inside his car, sitting comfortably in the front passenger seat. He had to admit but he enjoyed seeing Kimmy's annoyed expression.
So to provoke her more, he even signaled her to put on his seatbelt. Kimmy's eyes widened in disbelief. Cain was truly testing her patience. But she would not allow him to win.
'Just endure it, Kimmy. Remember, you only have to do this for three months,' Kimmy thought, reminding herself.
Looking dagger at Cain, Kimmy bent down and moved closer to him as she tried to find and put his seatbelt on.
Her body got closer to his as she had to fasten his seatbelt. With their closeness, Cain smelled her sweet scent, intoxicating him.
His body stiffened and he didn't dare move in his seat as Kimmy continued securing his seatbelt.
Cain regretted asking her to put his seatbelt on. Because of that, he got instant torture. He felt her chest lightly touch his and Kimmy's protruding nipples on her oversized shirt last night popped up in his mind.
Cain gulped hard. He felt like his throat was going to dry. His body heated up, including his cheeks and ears as if they were burning.
'Damn! Cain, for goodness's sake. You are a doctor! How can your body react easily to that memory?' He scolded himself over and over again.
When Kimmy was done and stood up straight, that was the only time Cain could breathe normally. Unknowingly he held his breath a while ago when Kimmy's chest was pressed to his body.
Oblivious of the internal battle happening within Cain, Kimmy went to the driver seat and started the car.
Cain felt relieved when Kimmy didn't take a glance in his direction after entering the car. If she did, then she would notice how red his whole face was as if he was a ripe tomato.
