Chapter 31 - The curse has begun 1/3

"I should get going now and thank you for breakfast."

Syna stood up from the chair, pushing it back with her thighs as the sound of 'ccggrr' was heard.

"Okay, be careful on the way. And the cab drivers, you know, you can't trust anyone now."

Lolita instructed her sternly with finger raised up, pointed towards her direction.

Syna took her bag and hung it on the shoulder and nodded.

"Yes, I will. Bye."

She strode towards the small arcade that was in front of the apartment door which leads towards the lounge at first and then the two rooms on the left.

The mysterious shadow that was following her since yesterday disappeared as soon as she stepped out of her friend's apartment.

She walked up to the elevator and stepped in, banged on the ground floor, red button.

"I have to talk to Grandpa and ask him to convince the Ghost king for a few more days."

She inhaled a deep sigh and scrunched shut her eyes, released the air and slowly her nerves calmed down.

"When will you be back Mr President, I need you here."

Her thoughts were imminently drifted to Sinclair's and her heart filled with ray of hope. Perhaps the marking was doing it's work and the poison of love was taking an initiative.

The elevator halted at the ground floor and Syna crept out, her every step was dignified and her gait was back to usual, imposing one.

The strong lady within her was back to normal and her determination seemed to be implacable as Syna headed out through the exit with a smile that beamed on her face.

No one could have imagined that the young lady in her early twenties was passing through such a turmoil, that collapsed her world and she was suffering with a shattered soul.

Syna rummaged through her hand bag and pulled out her cell phone, slowly skimmed through the contact number list and then dialed one.

"Hello, grandpa! How are you?"

Her voice beamed as she walked towards the cab stand which was a few steps away.

"I'm so sorry my child. Forgive this old man, forgive your grandpa for not being able to protect you."

The man, old Lorenzo was talking in a concerned tone, his voice dropped at the instant he finished the sentence.

"It is not your fault grandpa, maybe it was destined. It isn't anyone's fault that I'm in this kinda mess. And I really want to apologize for not attending your calls yesterday."

Syna hesitantly explained as her tone was laced with the repentance and guilt for making her loved ones worry to death.

"It is okay, my love. We are glad that you are doing fine, when it is hard to believe yet you are my strong girl. We will always be there with you."

Old Lorenzo assured his little girl, whom he believed was suffering so much through this sudden revelation. In addition to which was the thunderous unveiling that her parents were dead.

"Yes. I know grandpa we are a family. Oh, by the way, I'm coming to you, I have a solution to escape from this."

Syna became excited suddenly as she fully acknowledged that her family would support her plan no matter what.

"Solution? What solution, young lady?"

Lorenzo sounded quizzical and his voice was morphed with fear, as he doubted about what Syna was upto.

"I'm sorry grandpa, I did not tell you earlier, I'm already working for MacLaverty group."

Syna scratched her left ear and squeezed her eyes as her both brows were brought together at once.

"WHAT!"

Lorenzo shouted in disbelief.

"I told you not to do such a thing and why did you switch your job? You left the previous one? Syna at least you could have told us."

Lorenzo was yelling at the top of his lungs as perhaps he knew something that something was wrong or he was hiding something.

"Y-you are reacting odd,  grandpa, as if I did a terrible mistake. And I did not leave my job rather I'm undercover to get a good piece of news."

Syna tried to reason out as her eyes slid across the bustling charcoal road, which was filled with cars and the cab stand was also occupied with more than six people.

"But...never mind. I can't undo what's already been done. However, what is the solution you were talking about?"

Lorenzo sighed deeply as he was already unsuccessful in saving the 'princess once again'. And if God planned it to happen that way he could not reverse anything or meddle into his doings.

Lorenzo kept Syna confined within the bubble, he set for her himself in order to prevent her to fall into that miserable and pitiful tale of fate again.

He carefully observed everything first and persuaded Syna to get a job of his choice, when she kept her stubbornness to go out and work.

"The person who claimed to be Ghost King is the brother of my boss. And if I talk to Mr President maybe he could provide us with something to break this curse."

Lorenzo did not hear a single word she uttered rather the horrible sight before him left the old man in shock.

"OH! SHIT!"
