"Why this stupid woman is sleeping like this when I was supposed to arrive here at night!"
The man was not in a good mood when he magically entered her room but it became worse when he saw Syna sleeping on the edge of the bed, feebly snoring.
Intentionally he made a noise by breaking an expensive vase that successfully made Syna immediately opened her eyes. The man conspired and lifted the seal around Ghost King's bride that kept every evil away from her.
Unknowingly Syna drank coffee given to her in the senate gathering, the liquid contained a few drops of blood and a magic potion that lifted the seal around her. Although through those two kisses the indomitable Lord placed a shell around his wife to protect her.
"W-why the lights are off?"
She questioned to herself in a frightful voice completely aware that no one was in the room except her.
To her horror someone growled in response within a hissed tone.
"I cut the lights out. Why? Are you scared little cat?"
He sneered as his cold and stern voice stroked her ears and her heart raced faster.
"W-why? Who are you? And how did you get here?"
"Ah! Because I didn't want my prey to get scared and run away from my clutches."
He laughed wickedly, Syna could recognise the voice wasn't of Sinclair yet it was familiar.
"W-what do you mean? Where is Madeleine? MADELEINE!"
Syna gulped her fear and tried to sound composed as in the darkness it was only that devil's voice she could hear. She called out loud for Madeleine for help because it was only her around, on guard.
"Ah! You poor girl, no one is going to come to save you. And don't worry my master will keep you safe but trapped with him forever."
The man let out a loud laugh blurting his position as a lackey.
The storm outside went high as the lightning pierced the sky and laughed out loud mimicking the devil's lackey. The clouds wept at her fate and the hell mocked her with the lightning which welcomed the distressed damsel who was going to be caged into the den of devil.
"Who are you? Do you even know who I am? How dare you threaten me like that."
Her lips muttered with fear but Syna yelled trying to sound confident which was audible in that quiet room.
She knew that Sinclair's name could save her from this person, who barged inside God knows from where.
"Don't ever speak his name again. And don't think he would come to save you."
He yelled in rage and threw another vase which was lying nearby on the side table, on the wall, which shattered into small pieces.
Syna kept her hand on her mouth, terrified at the act as the raging storm outside added fear to her fragile heart. Though she could not see anything in the dark but her heart was pounding as if was about to explode.
The man at once plunged towards her holding by shoulders as he badly pushed her and Syna' back touched the side table behind her.
A bolt of lightning struck again illuminating the room for a few seconds and Syna glanced at the person in front of her.
A burnt face, his right cheek was badly burnt till his lip corner, veins were visible in that area. Extreme grey, lifeless eyes were throwing spades of hatred towards her cold and ruthless aura. The man was indeed was the lackey of the devil!
"Aaahh! J-jason!"
Syna tried to snap but he pinned her by holding her wrists, Syna' heart sank further in despair that the person originally to be her husband, the Ghost King was cold and ruthless, she knew that on her first meeting at the orphanage but he was also ugly in addition.
Another bolt of lightening laughed at her condition and the lackey pretending to be Jason MacLaverty, moreover claiming to be Ghost King, whispered in her ear emphasizing every single word.
"DON'T EVER TRY TO ESCAPE FROM ME. OR I WILL TURN INTO SOMETHING YOU WOULD NOT LIKE. AND DON'T DARE TO SPEAK TO ANYONE ABOUT THIS!"
And again silence crept into the atmosphere. Syna didn't know what to say or how to react. Her life was going to be hell with this man, tears left her eyes and kissed her cheeks.
'N-no Sinclair is going to save me. Yes, he is going to save me."
Her heart assuredly whispered as her inner screamed the Lord's name.
"Do you understand?"
The man yelled again, his voice echoing in the vast room.
Syna felt chill down her spine, a shudder circulated her body by his cold words. Still she managed to reply him somehow and it was the situational demand that she agreed to him.
"Y-yes."
Her voice so weak and unfamiliar to herself.
"Good."
And he left the room vanishing into thin air.
The tense atmosphere lowered down as the devil left the room. Syna felt like seeing a nightmare but unfortunately it was true, very much true.
She came to Sinclair to break the curse and to escape from her fate but the Ghost King found her again and now she was supposed to become the wife of Jason MacLaverty, the devil. Who was going to make her life hell and will treat her like plaything.
Syna cried heavily, she was unable to burn her past down and wasn't definitely going to accept her fate with him, certainly not after Sinclair's confession.
"I-I can't let him do whatever he wants. I have to tell Sinclair about this. I'm not going to surrender to this stupid curse. My love is much stronger than this ancient cruelty. I will rewrite my fate!"
Her voice hitched in the room as the strong headed bride of true blooded Ghost King, the beloved of Sinclair MacLaverty prepared herself as soon she gathered her senses.
The sky cried with her in the grief but the Goddess of love challenged the duo, amusingly. She was ready to test their love for each other, all over again in this second life too.
