“You must want to die, seeing that you’ve come all the way here,” Giggs muttered as he quickly approached William and twisted his arm to pull it behind his back.
“What’s wrong with you?!” William yelled in confusion.
“Shut your mouth, you animal!”
Unaware of what Giggs was talking about, William violently twisted his body to shake off Giggs’ hand that was holding his wrist like a shackle. “I need to see Sir Gareth right now. I have a message for him,” he said.
“A message? If you’re planning on making excuses, cut it out,” Giggs uttered coldly, looking at William with scornful eyes.
‘What in the world is he talking about? Why is he being so cold?’ William thought in confusion. However, there was no time to mull over such trivial matters like this since there was a chance his lady could be on the verge of death at this moment. ‘There’s no more time to waste,’ William decided, then he asked, “It’s a message from Lady Elena. Where is Sir Gareth?”
At the mention of Elena, Giggs’ expression became strangely distorted. “Is it really a message from Madam?”
William realized that Giggs’ harsh tone had softened a little. However, he paid no heed and continued to urge Giggs. “This is urgent. I need to see Sir Gareth now.”
Giggs had no choice but to turn around and take the lead to the barracks. “No matter what Boss says or does—even if he hits you—just take it,” he explained quickly. Gareth and his men had received a message from Madel not too long ago, and the messenger had reported that Elena had disappeared from the estate with William after miscarrying her child. Such words had made Gareth sink into despair.
“I have failed to keep my honor as a knight, but that is not Sir Gareth’s matter to reprimand.”
Giggs snorted in response and spoke with a cold voice, “Where did you put Madam after stealing her? Where is she?”
“Steal her? What in the world are you saying?” William asked back.
The two men walked fast, exchanging sharp words with each other. Before long, Giggs stopped in front of Gareth’s barracks and spoke softly. “Just a moment ago, he met a messenger from the estate. It was a messenger who brought news of you and Madam—”
“Let’s get in there. Lady Elena told me to deliver this message as soon as possible,” William interrupted.
“You could die,” Giggs warned.
Oblivious to the current situation, William felt his insides charring black from Giggs stalling him. He raised his voice and announced, “I, William, head of the Townsend knights, would like to see Sir Gareth.”
The curtains fluttered open right away before Giggs even had time to stop William. A hand reached out in a flash, grabbing William by the neck and causing a horrible sound. William lost consciousness for a moment, and when he opened his eyes, he was on the cold ground. Giggs was in front of him, blocking his view.
“Get out of the way, Giggs,” William could hear Gareth say.
“Listen to the message from Lady Elena first,” Giggs explained.
“The man stole Elena from me, and he probably gave her to Logan so that he could live. Get out of the way if you don’t want to die as well.”
Gareth’s icy voice repeatedly stabbed William’s exhausted mind. There was a punching sound at that moment, and Giggs staggered back and fell on top of William.
“Boss, please give him a chance and listen to what he has to say,” Giggs begged.
However, Gareth did not listen. William could now feel cold metal at his neck, prompting him to realize that Gareth had drawn his sword and was threatening to behead him. Giggs quickly jumped up and held onto Gareth from behind. He knew that his superior’s emotions were jumbled up and that he wouldn’t spare anyone who irritated him. Still, William had said there was a message from Elena, and Giggs decided that he needed to persuade Gareth to listen to it.
“Boss, please!” Giggs yelled at Gareth, his bloodstained lips trembling.
“I’ll kill you, too,” Gareth muttered.
