Chapter 250 Puzzle

“Hiro, wake up!” Spyro tried to slap Hiro’s face hard until the man woke up. She managed to pull the man’s body out to the lakeside with great difficulty.

Hiro finally woke up. His body was still wet with water, which continued to reduce his health points until it turned red, showing that he was dying now.

“Damn, that was close. Is that holy water?” Hiro immediately consumed his health potion before any monsters attacked him. When he looked up, he could see nothing but darkness. It was impossible to get out of that place by flying back up. There must be another way.

Hiro checked the map through his HUD system and noticed the name of the place had changed.

[Dreamcatcher Dungeon (Underworld)]

Hiro got up to finish his task right away. The test turned out to be quite long, and he couldn’t remember how long he had been in that place because the clock didn’t move, as if the time had stopped.

“Let’s go, Alice.”

Hiro drew the Blood-eater vampire’s sword and walked away from the lake. He looked for another way until he saw a cave at the end of the lake. He immediately ran towards the cave and entered it without hesitation. As usual, the cave ended in a long passage with very minimal lighting. Hiro could count how many pairs of torches that lightened up the place. Well, it was better than nothing at all.

Hiro continued to walk deeper until he saw another turn on his left. This time, there were two paths: stay straight or enter into the dark passage. He didn’t know what awaited him in it. In the end, Hiro chose to continue to walk straight. He walked until there was a dead end in front of him. However, it didn’t just stop there because a large iron gate that was locked tightly was before him.

On both sides of the iron gate were a pair of torches that functioned as light. Then, the moment Hiro touched the surface of the door, a notification appeared.

[Move the lever to open the gate]

This time, Hiro was sure that the previous turn had the lever he needed to open the gate. He immediately turned around to run towards the turn and entered it without hesitation.

However, it wasn’t just the lever that he found in that place. From quite a distance, Hiro could see a figure of a dwarf whose height only reached his thigh was waiting for him there. The dwarf wore a red shirt from top to bottom.

“What do you want, Traveler?” said the dwarf in a squeaky voice like a mouse.

“I have to move the lever in the other direction to open the gate,” Hiro replied briefly.

“I won’t let you do it!”

Crash!

Suddenly, the little dwarf’s body expanded into a large size until its clothes were torn apart. Within seconds, the dwarf had turned into an angry red wolf.

Howl!

The fight was unavoidable. Hiro had to defeat the monster to activate the lever.

Splat!

In that very narrow room, Hiro actually benefited greatly. He managed to slash the wolf’s body and then stabbed its heart with the tip of the Blood-eater vampire. The wolf monster was instantly killed because its HP was drained quickly. Then, it shattered into shards of pixel crystal and vanished without a trace.

Hiro immediately ran to the lever and pushed it forward. He moved it to the corner so that the gate would open.

Ding!

[The gate has been opened]

Hiro could see the scene instantly change. The ground beneath him moved like there was an earthquake happening in that place. However, it happened because the iron gate he had seen earlier was pulled up and opened the previously locked gate.

However, when the gate was opened, five wolves of the same red color as the wolf he had just defeated earlier jumped out and started to howl loudly.

Hiro immediately ran to where the monsters were. He attacked them with the help of Spyro who attacked using her fire breath and physical attacks from the air. The two of them managed to defeat the monster quickly without getting any significant damage.

“We have to hurry!”

Hiro ran in through the already opened gate.

Dap! Dap! Dap!

Another long passage awaited him ahead. However, from a distance, he could see a portal. Its shape resembled a tube without glass, where there was a red light that continued to move like an electric current. It was a teleportation portal.

Hiro was sure he had seen its form in a game. And without hesitation, he jumped through the red electric current and stood in the middle of the tube-like object.

He wasn’t hurt.

Ding!

[You will be teleported to the puzzle room]

Hiro’s guess was correct. His memory didn’t lie to him. It was a portal to a special room resembling a square-shaped room that wasn’t big but filled with mirrors of various positions. A puzzle room. He had to solve a puzzle to get out of that place.

Ding!

[You have obtained the ring of light]

Hiro looked at his middle finger on the right hand. A ring just appeared there with a crystal at the top. As Hiro clenched his right fist, a red light like a toy laser, suddenly emerged from the crystal and disappeared in midair.

Looking at the room filled with mirrors and given an object that could produce light, Hiro could already guess what he should do this time.

There was a one meter high crystal rock that was located at a place higher than the ground beneath him. It looked dim, as if it had lost its original light.

Ding!

[Light the crystal to activate the exit portal]

“Gotcha. My guess was right.”

Even if he knew what to do, igniting the crystal was not as easy as he had imagined. Hiro had to adjust his position properly and take advantage of the mirrors in the room. If he shot directly at the crystal with his ring, the red light would disappear before it hit the crystal because the distance was only one meter while the crystal was five meters away from his position.

Hiro had to climb up the uneven walls and try his luck to aim at one of the mirrors until the laser reflected in the mirror could reach the crystal.

One mirror was not enough. He had to use a reflection of at least three mirrors. And to reach the mirror, he had to calculate the angle of his shot, because even a slightly different angle would make his shot miss.

There was no time limit in that room, but staying there too long was really unpleasant.

“Hiro, do you need my help?” asked Alice, starting to get annoyed that Hiro’s shot was missed even though the man was so close to reaching the crystal.

“No, a little more. I can do this by myself.”

Clink!

“Yes!”

Hiro had to climb up on one of the mirrors to position himself on the same level as the other four mirrors. The light he shot managed to bounce in a zigzag way through the four mirrors until it finally made it into the crystal.

Ding!

[You have successfully ignited the crystal]

[The exit portal will open]

Hiro saw the wall below him suddenly glitch before it disappeared. He immediately ran there to get out of the puzzle room.

“Easy.”
