Chapter 276: Kicking Up A Storm (3)
[Tell Stella I'll be there before sundown. I still have some things to do and don't want to be disturbed.]
Kyran told Nolan without commenting on his previous question. There was no need to explain his side. He had trained with his father's essence for five days and had become familiar with the difference between the real one and the essence.
Besides, when Kyran grabbed Nolan earlier, it had been too easy. As if Nolan's defenses were too weak and that his 'cloak' was not real.
[Too late, that last bit will be hard to do.]
Nolan replied while looking at the people downstairs.
His words made Kyran stop in his work and turned at him. Using his magic sense, he found that more people who were not part of the order had arrived.
'To think that people around here as such a gossip,' Kyran could not help but sigh in his heart.
'Hm?' His brow furrowed after sensing a familiar aura in the crowd below.
If it was any other day, Kyran would not have paid attention to any of the auras downstairs. This time was no different, after all, what he was doing was preparation in putting his plan to save his clan into motion.
However, Kyran did not realize that even after so many years, the owner of the aura downstairs could still affect him. He had experienced so much during his training in the Tower of Tribulation that his character had undergone a drastic change, especially when it comes to handling grievances. To have this 'person' still rouse his emotions made him pause for a moment.
Of course, the reason why he was affected by the 'person's' presence was not due to a lingering attachment. The emotion evoked deep in him, had something to do with an unresolved enmity in the past.
It seemed circumstances had presented him a chance to resolve past grievances.
Kyran's eyes glinted with malice, but because of the mask he was wearing, his eyes only appeared colder. If anyone was looking at him right now, they would not be able to read what was on his mind.
Downstairs, a number of blacksmiths had already taken action to control the crowd forming outside their department. The Blacksmiths and Array Specialists department was not a place that anyone was allowed to enter, after all.
A member of the order from a different department entering the Blacksmiths and Array Specialists department was one thing, however, there were even customers who were among the crowd wanting to look inside.
As for the other specialists, they were keeping an eye on the cloaked man who was now leaning on an undamaged mezzanine's railing, looking at the crowd gathered outside the department's inner door.
Earlier, they were ready to make a move and surround the cloaked man. However, when the crowd appeared and Disciple Tyr stopped attacking, they were unsure of what to do. Now, Disciple Tyr had gone back inside his workstation without telling them how to deal with the cloaked man. Even the puppet had only focused on repairing the damaged railing and walls, completely ignoring the man.
The cloaked man also did not make any move.
The few veteran specialists were able to see some clues that the cloaked man and Disciple Tyr probably knew each other. Especially from what the cloaked man said about taking Disciple Tyr to some tower. Although, the latter had accused the former of being an intruder they somehow sensed that Disciple Tyr only said that because the cloaked man disturbed him while he was working.
Thinking of this, most of them made a mental note not to disturb Disciple Tyr when he was working.
They sensed the cloaked man's magic level was far greater than them, and Disciple Tyr managed to blast him off too easily. This proved that Disciple Tyr was not a pushover.
Come to think of it, Disciple Tyr was also a mercenary and probably the cloaked man as well. They probably knew each other as mercenaries.
Thinking of this possibility, most of them felt somewhat relieved, although they did not lower their guard.
Nolan, who was watching the crowd below in amusement, suddenly caught sight of something, and in an instant, he cursed out loud, "F*ck! I said I'd be back in a minute!"
What he saw was actually the time showing on a huge clock on the wall.
He looked at Kyran from across the room and roared, "Oi, kid! Let's go."
Kyran suddenly stood up, and with a wave of his hand, all his items inside the room slowly turned translucent and soon returned to his pouch.
"Let's go," he replied.
Nolan stopped short, sensing something was amiss with Kyran's sudden change of mind.
Meanwhile, the customers among the crowd downstairs finally heard that the explosion was caused by none other than Chairman Noir's Disciple Tyr. This had caused heated discussions among them.
Most of them assumed that the explosion was due to a failed creation done by Disciple Tyr. Others believed, due to Disciple Tyr's diligence in his work, the machinery he was using exploded from overuse.
A young woman with wavy long blonde hair and olive green eyes wearing a light blue dress, waiting inside the order's reception area, curiously looked at the gathering crowd at the entrance to the Blacksmiths and Array Specialists department.
Another woman who had the same olive green eyes as the young woman, except with short blonde hair sat beside the latter. She appeared a little older than the young woman and was also looking at the crowd, not out of curiosity but with an expression of disdain.
They had heard most of what had been said among the crowd and knew the commotion was related to Chairman Noir's disciple.
"Humph, they are making a mountain out of a molehill from all this fuss," the woman with short blonde hair commented.
The younger woman's eyes glowed in excitement as she turned to the other woman, "But, it is the elusive disciple of Master Noir, Mimi. Any news of him is sure to attract people's attention. Not only because Master Noir has chosen him as a disciple from among all the noble candidates who had done everything to gain his favor, but because no one has actually seen him in person!"
Mimi, looked at the younger woman sternly and said, "Do I have to remind you that you are one of those noble candidates that wanted to become Chairman Noir's disciple but failed?"
Then her expression softened while adding, "And stop calling Chairman Noir, master. He is not your master, Millie. If Master Evan hears you right now, you will break his heart."
The young woman, whose name was Millie stuck out her tongue at Mimi but then sheepishly said, "I can't help it. Master— I mean — Chairman Noir is a real Array Master."
Mimi's expression turned stern once again as she said, "Fine. I'll accept you calling Chairman Noir, master. But stop sounding like a starstruck fool when talking about Chairman Noir's disciple. Remember, it is because of him that you did not become Chairman Noir's disciple!"
Millie giggled at Mimi's ranting and remembered her reaction last year when Chairman Noir announced he had finally chosen a disciple.
That year, Millie was very disappointed and wanted to vent her frustration. However, when Mimi flew into a rage for her sake, she was too flabbergasted that in the end, all her pent-up frustrations disappeared.
After that, Millie had wanted to know more about Chairman Noir's new disciple. She found the post where Disciple Tyr's photo was there and became interested in him. Mimi, seeing this, went to the Mercenary Hall to request a thorough background check of Tyr. Her reason was simple, she did not want her little sister to become infatuated with a man who had a shady background.
However, the Mercenary Hall actually rejected their request. Mimi flew into a rage yet again, but before the matter escalated, the Mercenary Hall Master Celine explained that Tyr was one of their mercenaries. If she had any complaints about him, the Mercenary Hall would be the one to enact punishment.
After finding out that Tyr was also a mercenary, Millie's fascination with him grew, much to Mimi's chagrin. The latter regretted going to the Mercenary Hall.
In the end, Mimi could only sigh and vowed to keep watch of her sister's little infatuation.
Soon after this incident, because there had been no news of Tyr's sightings, even within the Blacksmith Order, rumors circulated that Tyr was probably not real. Because of this, any small news of his movements or even rumored appearance had become a hot topic, especially within Starhorn.
While the two sisters waited at the reception area, with one pretending not to care about the commotion while the younger one looking at the crowd with eyes full of anticipation, a powerful deep voice suddenly sounded, reverberating in the whole surrounding.
"This area is off-limits. Please step back and return to the reception area."
In an instant, the noise in the crowd died down.
However, it was impossible to say if they stopped talking because of what the voice had said, or because they were suddenly struck dumb at the very person who had spoken.
Millie and Mimi stood up as soon as they heard the voice. The two of them were looking at the inner door.
Even when the crowd blocked the view, as soon as a young man, with auburn hair and very beautiful aquamarine-colored eyes, wearing a white coat had appeared, the two sisters managed to discern him among the crowd.
"Disciple Tyr…." Millie muttered under her breath.
Even Mimi looked at the young man, her mouth gaping slightly.
They had never seen a man as handsome as the one they were looking at now.
