Chapter 484 Rampage (8)

Name:Legacy of the Dark Sage Author:
Several black tentacle-like substances sprang in every direction, wrapping around Kyran's limbs and and torso, binding him in place.

Before Deception could grab this chance to escape, her shadow suddenly increased and shifted, swallowing her in an instant.

Kyran's reddish-purple eyes glowed and a translucent purple light seeped out of his body, disintegrating the black tentacle-like substances in an instant.

Five black-hooded figures rushed at Kyran in different directions, all of them wielding different weapons. Two figures holding black scythes swung horizontally and vertically respectively on each side of Kyran. Three were coming from behind, holding a two-handed sword, a dagger, and a short sword respectively.

Most mage would have already panicked in front of a sudden attack. However, Kyran remained expressionless as he stood his ground. The pupil of his eyes turned into silver slits, and they flickered as a dark purple armor materialized and covered his whole body. The attacks of the five black-hooded figures connected, striking his body, which was now wearing the Void Armor.

SIZZLE!

Sizzling sounds filled the air as their weapons started to disintegrate upon contact.

Kyran did not stay idle. His arms and legs struck, destroying the figures in a less than two seconds.

However, before the last figure got destroyed, more black-hooded figures materialized from the shadows.

Not waiting for these figures to completely materialized, Kyran dashed forward and punched out. A dark purple force shoot off from his fist, destroying three black-hooded figures that had yet to materialize in front. After which, he disappeared and reappeared six meters to the back where four hooded-figures holding a sword or a dagger was still coming out of the shadows. Kyran did a roundhouse kick, shooting off a dark purple force. The force sliced through the hooded figures' heads and their bodies instantly sank back to the shadow.

Kyran's eyes flashed while following the movements of these figures. He arched his back and pulled back his left arm. Under his Void Armor, his muscles contracted, gathering momentum on his arms, before punching the shadow on the ground.

CRACK! BOOM!

Web-like crack appeared on the ground when Kyran's fist connected on the ground, before it exploded out. Bits and pieces of earth flew in every direction and a cloud of dirt and smoke formed.

Upon closer look on the pieces of earth, the shadow shifted erratically and tried to fly out.

Unfortunately, in Kyran's current state, such movements were easy for him to spot. His hand shot out, grabbing the shadow.

SIZZLE!

The shadow disintegrated as soon as Kyran's hand touched it. After all, his Void Armor was made of Void and Draconic magic.

By these time, the other black-hooded figures completed their materialization, each holding different types of weapons, and flew toward him. Some aimed at Kyran's neck, others aimed at his torso, while the rest aimed at his limbs.

BOOM!

Kyran's eyes flashed, and his magic pressure erupted, destroying all the figures in a blink of an eye.

From a distance, Gael fell on one knee as blood trickled down the side of his mouth. His glowing red eyes were wide in shock as he watch Kyran destroy his summons one after another.

Was that really the boy Dior and the others had said to not even know how to use magic?

Gael could understand Kyran's monstrous strength, not to mention his inhuman reflex because he was a Regis. He also graduated at the best military school in the empire with such an unprecedented record. But for him to integrate his magic well in his combat, it was simply impossible! Did he not learn about his magic more than a month ago?

No, wait. Dior mentioned about Kyran being able to comprehend theories really well. Could he really have improved his magic to this level just by understanding the theory behind how to use magic?

Impossible.

Maybe if his magic was common, where several manuscript and theories were available for anyone to study, it might be possible. But he possessed Void magic. A magic that did not have any record in the whole empire. How was he able to learn it?

Gael shook his head to clear his thoughts. He was missing the point here. It did not really matter if there were no records about Void magic. For argument's sake, let us say that the Regis actually had some ancient record about Void magic, even if Kyran managed to read those and comprehended them, it would be impossible for him to learn it to this extent.

Gael's disbelief was reasonable. For Kyran to mold his magic into an armor, not to mention when he changed its nature from solid to particles when countering Deception's mist-form, only a mage who had attained a very high level could do that.

Speaking of level, Gael actually could not sense Kyran's mage level. He was already a Magus! It was impossible for others to hide their magic level in front of him.

Unless that mage was the same level or had higher mage level than him. Like Deception and the other outsiders.

This realization made Gael's scalp go numb. But then, his disbelief and uneasiness turned to apprehension then to displeasure.

Today, Kyran has to die.

Gritting his teeth, Gael summoned more of the hooded figures to keep the latter busy. He had to buy more time for Deception to heal.

Speaking of her, Deception was currently hiding in Gael's domain and was healing her wounds. Killing the boy would require more people. He could not attack Kyran head on. Just witnessing his summons getting destroyed like they were nothing after making contact with the latter's magic sent shivers down his spine. Apart from this, they had little knowledge of Void magic.

For now, Gael only had tofocus on gathering information. Getting his summons destroyed also affected him, but it did not matter. A small sacrifice was better than attacking blindly and ending up dying without knowing what had happened. Besides, he only needed to buy more time until the emperor arrived.

From the information he received before coming here, Mannick, Imman and a number of their army officers were with the emperor and were already on the way.

'Still…' Gael looked toward his left where he had sent his army.

There were actually two beasts rampaging there. According to the earlier report, these beasts were summoned by Kyran as well. This report made Gael recall that the Regis Clan knew taming techniques.

'But where did he tame such powerful beasts?' Gael wondered.

From the last report the Special Ops had sent him, there was a chance that Kyran went to the Valley of Morte. Could he have found the beasts there?

If that was the case, then what about those eyes peering at the rift above the tall building?

Gael turned his attention to his left and looked at the said tall building. The huge rift was still there, and two more beasts were growling and hissing as if pleading to be let out.

Gael's brow furrowed. What exactly was that rift? How many more beasts were inside? Was Kyran the only one who could let those beasts out? Or was there a duration of some sort before they could leave it on their own?

All of these questions annoyed Gael. Not knowing anything about the enemy was equivalent to suicide.

Shaking his head in frustration, Gael pushed all unnecessary things to the back of his head and turned his attention back to Kyran.

And that was his mistake.

Turning his attention even for a few seconds away from Kyran.

BAM!

Kyran appeared in front of Gael and sent out a kick.

Gael barely willed his robe to protect his side. But being a full-pledge mage, he was unable to defend himself from the force of kick and was sent flying several meters to the right.

"Guah!" He spat out a mouthful of blood as he hit several buildings.

But Kyran did not seem to have any plans of letting Gael off easy. Without waiting for the latter to stop. Kyran disappeared and reappeared on the bulding where Gael was about to hit next and received the latter with a punch.

BAM!

"Gah!" Gael's momentum was broken but was sent back again. However, he had no plans on becoming Kyran's punching bag. Earlier, he was caught off guard and he admitted the latter's kick muddled his senses for a minute. But the second attack had awakened him.

Gael's red eyes glowed and he summoned his magic weapon. To break his momentum, he pierced the end of the scythe on the ground. The ground cracked as the scythe's shaft sank a few inches before finally breaking Gael's momentum.

Without bothering to check Kyran's location, since he would definitely be coming, Gael summoned his magic and shadow spread from the tip of his scythe that was pierced on ground, forming a ten-meter radius of black murky substance.

Kyran disappeared and reappeared a few feet above Gael and was poised to kick.

But it was at this time that a huge black hand emerged from the black murky substance and reached for Kyran.
