But before making a move, Kyran decided to ask another question about the next thing he was curious about the War of the Sovereigns. After turning Light into a Sigil, he would eventually know the answer to that, but in case he failed, at least, he already had an idea.
"What would happen to the losing factions?" He asked.
Light's face darkened at Kyran's question. Obviously, Light knew the answer to that but felt a sense of foreboding if Kyran did not like the answer.
Based on what Light observed about Kyran's character and all the other information they collected starting from when he made a name for himself, he disliked dishonest and plotting people. Thus, lying was not an option. Light also could not opt to remain silent, because doing might affirm Kyran's thoughts— if he had one.
After hesitating for a few seconds, Light finally answered, "There is nothing much to say. Only one outcome befalls the Sovereigns from the losing side— death. As for their planes, it will depend on the Sovereigns who won if they want to keep them or destroy them."
Kyran turned livid at Light's answer. He had expected the first one, but not the second.
For argument's sake, if the winning side decided to destroy every plane under the losing side, did that mean 80% of the planes within the Lower Realm would be destroyed? And that 80% was if there were only five factions participating in the war.
Even if the winning side decided to keep some of the planes, would the beings from the Higher Realm allow that many planes to ascend? What about the Lower Realm? Would it end up with only a few planes in its system?
That did not make sense to Kyran.
As if sensing Kyran's doubts and fearing any follow-up questions, Light hurriedly said, "I can guess most of your doubts. But even if you ask them, I can't give you a satisfactory answer. In terms of tenurial, I've only have a few hundreds under my belt, so I don't know much about what happened in the previous war."
Light paused for a few seconds before continuing, "What I do know is that more than half of the planes in the Lower Realm was destroyed after the war and only one plane ascended. The planes that got left behind are ungoverned ones that did not participate in the war. Anyway, the reason only one plane ascended was because the faction that won the war only had one Sovereign left. And that Sovereign also had one plane left under him."
After Light finished explaining, Kyran was silent for a long time, and the foreboding feeling the former felt intensified as time went by.
On the other hand, Kyran already turned numb by the time Light finished talking.
To be honest, he was not surprised at the outcome of the last war. Mutual destruction was not uncommon during wars especially when the strength of two or more sides were equally matched.
Nevertheless, Kyran felt something amiss from the latter half of Light's explanation. He was not saying that Light lied to him but something seemed off.
As if having only one Sovereign and plane left at the end of the war was premeditated.
If this was true, then what was the use of joining a faction?
Apart from this, Kyran felt that the War of the Sovereigns happening was not to give those from the Lower Realm a chance in ascending to the Higher Realm but was a roundabout way to reduce the ever-growing number of Sovereigns and population of the Lower Realm— like a self-preservation move.
Then did that mean the one 'organizing' the war was the Lower Realm itself?
Kyran immediately stopped his train of thought. He had little information about the war and did not want to end up overthinking things.
Nothing good would happen if he overstress himself on things he had little knowledge of. In any case, the more he heard about the war, the more he wanted to distance himself from it. But he knew he could not completely stay out of it now that two Sovereign factions had reached out to him.
"Thank you for answering my questions," Kyran finally said after a short pause.
Light's expression darkened after hearing Kyran's words because they did not sound comforting but threatening.
Just as Light was thinking this, Kyran suddenly disappeared. Simultaneously, the foreboding feeling Light had been feeling erupted.
In an instant, Light's body turned into a blinding light that expanded at an alarming pace. Everything the light touched crackled.
"I see, Light magic can actually detect my magic's warp ability. This is good to know."
Light froze as soon as Kyran had spoken. Just as he said, the light Light emitted was to determine Kyran's trajectory and prevent him from successfully launching a sneak attack. Even if the latter used the Void magic's warp ability to move from one spot to another, Light would still be able to detect it.
However, that did not happen.
For some unknown reason, Light failed to determine Kyran's position— not to mention the magic fluctuation that the light magic detected from the latter was different from the Void fluctuation Light sensed earlier.
It was not even the same fluctuation as Light's light magic that Kyran learned not too long ago. It was a completely different fluctuation but was similarly powerful and suppressive like the Void magic.
How was this possible?
But Light was not given the chance to dwell on the subject as two similar energy fluctuations moved within the light. These fluctuations circled Light's body. After which, the light coming out of Light's body was dispelled in an instant.
Light's eyes widened in shock as soon as the blinding light disappeared because the two fluctuating energies earlier became visible.
Initially, Light was expecting to see Kyran as one of the fluctuations, while the other was a summoned item or even weapon. Instead, there were two miniature dragons circling Light's body.
"I-Impossible! These two are—!"
What was even more shocking from seeing two miniature dragons was the fact that the latter two did not feel fake, as a matter of fact, they appeared to be real dragons. Though Light had not fought a true dragon before, there were artefacts stored in their faction's hideout that emitted true dragon magic.
Just as Light thought this, Kyran appeared in view.
Kyran looked at Light with a slight smile. The reddish-purple glow in his eyes earlier disappeared and was now replaced by a silver glow.
The moment Light saw Kyran, was the moment it finally made sense to her.
That was right. Now that Kyran had the Sigil activated and had them wrapped around Light's body, he finally discovered that the latter was a woman.
Light stared at Kyran in disbelief as she shouted, "Y-You— don't tell me you're actually a dragon spawn!"
Kyran raised his brows at Light's words. The term was not really foreign to him.
He read once that some dragons who had taken a human form would find a mate from other races. When that happened and the two mated, their offspring would then be called dragon spawn.
These dragon spawns would then have the ability to use dragon magic.
Unfortunately, Light's guess was a little off because Kyran was not using dragon magic, but Draconic magic. Apart from this, his parents were 100% humans— regardless of how many people would say his father was a 'monster' or his mother was the 'Spirit Child.'
"Sorry," Kyran started. "I don't want to join your faction or any other faction at that. But I don't want you going hostile right now."
Light gritted her teeth as she looked at Kyran. She tried to break free from the two miniature dragons but to no avail. It was as if all her magic and physical energies had been drained out of her body.
What she was feeling was to be expected because the Sigil was also embued with Void magic albeit its effect was to nullify their target's magic.
Nevertheless, Light did not want things to end like this. She also did not want to become Kyran's enemy not only because his strength far surpasses their faction's expectations but also because she realized that compared to the Soul Emperor, he was more 'humane.'
Yes, he made full use of the people around him, but he looked after them when the going gets tough. Not to mention, all his questions made Light see what kind of person he was.
"If that is true, you should have just told me and not do this!" She said.
At that moment, Light was convinced Kyran wanted to 'harm' her.
Kyran could not help but look at Light skeptically. He was expecting a fierce fight between them but it seemed he expected too much. She was not even fighting the Sigil as they completely took hold of her body.
Alas, it was not that Light did not want to fight. It was just that she no longer had the ability to do so, because the last move she did, had drained her remaining reserved magic energy.
