The approaching Boyd family members sneered at the size of Neo's wooden staff. At most, it was only about two meters long and would not reach them as they were still around fifteen meters away. Apart from this, the staff was made from wood. Even if it reached them it would not pose any threat. It might even snap after hitting any one of them.
Their confidence stemmed from the fact that they were part of the Boyd Family's combat mages. They had been nurtured at an early age and their bodies were made to endure most physical and magic attacks from High Master mages and below.
As far as they were concerned, 'Disciple Tyr' was only a Master mage. His attack would not be able to inflict much damage.
Too bad these members did not witness Neo's staff changing and turning into a huge hammer and blasting away a number of Boyd family members after slamming it on the ground.
And Neo did just that. As he swung the staff toward the approaching Boyd family members, the staff's length suddenly increased. At the same time, the tip facing them expanded, revealing a huge head of a hammer.
Most of the Boyd family members did not even have the time to gape in shock at the abrupt change in Neo's staff before being blasted away.
"Aaaahhh!"
A couple of Boyd family members successfully evaded.
But before they could rejoice as the staff-now-turn-hammer missed them, Neo suddenly appeared in front of them and performed a double roundhouse kick, sending the two flying to the side.
"Ack!"
They slammed on a nearby wall and were buried in its rubble as it collapsed from the impact.
Neo did not check their status and immediately turned to leave.
Meanwhile, Styx, Dante and the rest of the mercenaries were busy wrecking the north area of the villa. They split up into a team of two and spread out.
Using his great sword, Dante cleaved it down at the approaching fire magic attacks from the Boyd family members. As the great sword slammed on the ground, earth spikes emerged, forming a snake-like trail that met the fire magic attacks.
BOOM!
As the magic attacks collided, an explosion occurred, sending ripples of aftershocks. The aftershocks forced the few Boyd family members nearby to fall back.
BAM!
"Argh!"
However, as soon as they were forced back. A huge wall made of earth sprang a few feet behind them and they slammed right into it.
Another wall made of earth sprang in front and slammed at them, sandwiching them in the process.
This sudden attack was made by Styx.
As an Abjurer, his offensive attack was weak. As a matter of fact, he did not know any offensive attacks apart from molding his magic into a weapon or boulders and willing them to attack his enemies. But such moves were too simple and easy to predict. It would not be an effective attack.
However, if Styx took advantage of the flow of the battle and his enemies' positioning he could still knock them unconscious.
"That's got to hurt," Dante could not help but wince, seeing how the Boyd family members got sandwiched by Styx's move.
"Just enough to knock them out," Styx snorted in disdain. He then looked up slightly and added, "Let's go. We have to find Tyr as soon as possible and leave at once."
It was not that they were worried about their identities being discovered. Their magic attacks and the weapons they were using were practically an obvious giveaway of who they were. What made Styx said this was the two sea serpents fighting in the middle area of the Boyd Family's Villa.
Dante also looked in the direction where Styx was looking and nodded in agreement. He said, "Yeah. I don't want to get caught up in that fight."
Apart from the fact the clash between the two sea serpents was on a different level from what Dante could take part in, they both possessed Water magic which was also not a good match to his Earth magic. He could also use Fire magic and combined it with his Earth magic, but the former was even at a disadvantage to Water magic.
The two continued forward while avoiding the area where the two sea serpents were fighting.
Meanwhile, around fifty kilometers away from the Boyd Family's Villa, Osric gaped at the scene he was seeing from where he was.
Now that he was closer to where the two sea serpents were fighting, Osric had a better idea of their standings.
To his utter disbelief, it was his magic weapon's sentient who was at a disadvantage, while Tritus's magic weapon had almost successfully consumed the former.
RAWRGH!
As if sensing Osric nearby, the bluish-white sea serpent let out a roar and flew toward his direction.
RAWRGH!
However, the bluish-green sea serpent had no plans of letting it go. It opened its mouth and released a concentrated magic energy attack that shot toward the escaping sea serpent. Simultaneously, it flung its tail toward the latter, wanting to coil it around it.
RAWRGH!
The bluish-white sea serpent let out a pitiful roar as the bluish-green sea serpent's attack pierced its back. The latter then took the chance when the former was in pain to successfully coil its tail around it.
RAWRGH!
The bluish-white sea serpent roared in retaliation as it tried to break free from the bluish-green sea serpent's hold.
RAWRGH!
But the bluish-green sea serpent already accumulated far more power after fighting the bluish-white sea serpent for some time and could not be outpowered easily. It opened its mouth and roared and bit the latter's neck.
RAWRGH!
The bluish-white sea serpent let out another pitiful wail as it slammed its tail on the ground, destroying several buildings in the process and causing a tremor that momentarily halted the movements of every person within a hundred meters around them.
Osric's eyes widened the moment he sensed the waning aura and will of the bluish-white sea serpent. He finally understood why his magic weapon's sentient was suddenly on the losing end. Tritus's magic weapon had been feeding on the latter's magic energy!
His eyes glowed fiercely and he shot forward at an alarming speed.
"I'LL DESTROY YOU!" Osric shouted in rage as his magic aura exploded.
Immediately, the Boyd family members nearby sensed Osric's approach and rejoiced. After suffering from one unexpected attack to another, they were starting to lose hope.
To be honest, it was not that they did not have other powerful mages to help contain the situation. But they had their own things to do and were not in the villa.
In any case, there was not enough time for them to return.
Osric whirled his staff and forcefully unsummoned it's sentient.
The bluish-green sea serpent immediately sensed its prey slipping away.
RAWRGH!
Its eyes flashed green as it roared toward the direction of the approaching Osric. It seemed to have issued a challenge against him.
Without awaiting for Osric to accept the challenge, the bluish-green sea serpent sprang to meet him.
Osric waved his hand and his magic staff disappeared. It was then replaced by a different staff, which likely was a spare magic weapon. However, the magic energy it emitted did not lose out to the previous staff.
The staff in Osric's hand was made of pure diamond, with a huge sapphire-blue stone at the top end. The staff's design was a little crude as if an amateur had carved a huge block of diamond and taken out a chunk to use as a staff.
Obviously, such a thing was impossible. After all, no amateur had the ability to cut a diamond, which was considered one of the hardest materials in the world.
As for the sapphire-blue stone, surprisingly, it was also made of diamond and the reason its color was blue was that a thin layer of deep blue water enveloped it like a second coating.
Osric's eyes flashed the same moment he waved his staff.
As soon as he did, a powerful surge of pure Water magic erupted from the ground below and toward the approaching sea serpent.
RAWRGH!
The bluish-green sea serpent let out a powerful roar that seemed to contain a sonar effect, sending ripples of soundwaves toward the tidal wave.
The sonar attack from the sea serpent had little effect on the tidal wave. However, it managed to stop its advance.
Osric was surprised to see the sea serpent use Sound magic when it was clearly a Water-type magic weapon. But he did not dwell much on it and waved his staff again.
The tidal wave immediately regained its momentum, its height rose to almost a hundred meters and rushed toward the sea serpent.
The bluish-green sea serpent swiped its tail horizontally at the incoming tidal wave, splitting it in half.
As soon as the tidal wave was split, it seemed to turn into ordinary water that fell down like two overlapping waterfalls.
WHOOOSH!
When the water fell to the ground, it converged right beneath the sea serpent's body and several water spikes sprang up, piercing the sea serpent's body.
