'The old man and I already discussed what to do,' Kyran told Gael. 'Take care of the rest of the perpetrators. I want to leave as soon as possible.'
'Yes, Master.'
Gael left as soon as Kyran gave the order.
Initially, Kyran planned to go with Gael but decided to stay in position after hearing a commotion from the security group. Apparently, they had already noticed the disappearance of the three perpetrators and were trying to figure out what had happened.
'Looks like they did not notice Gael's use of magic,' Kyran mused thoughtfully.
It was one thing for others to detect Kyran's use of magic because of the Shaiha, but it was still a little tricky when it came to his Sigils or Servants. Another thing Kyran took the time to learn this past year was how to control the Shaiha's concealment ability.
Kyran discovered that as long as he let his Void magic energy circulate into another, he could use the Shaiha's concealment ability to hide their presence whenever they used their magic.
But letting another circulate the Void was not easy.
What happened to Cyneah when his magic energy entered her body was proof of how dangerous it would be for others to circulate the Void. At the moment, the only ones who could withstand the Void were his servants. It was understandable because they had been absorbed by the Void, thus, they had been 'cleansed' as Gael termed it.
Kyran studied controlling the Shaiha to the point he no longer had to trigger it to conceal his servants. Nevertheless, he had not tried it where many people were present and did not know if it would be effective.
Today was the first time, and it looked like it worked just fine.
A few security group members used their magic to check the surroundings. Kyran even felt a similar ability, like a magic sense probe around him. However, it only passed him and failed to 'touch' him.
This was not the result of his magic's Void nature or because he was an outsider and used a different magic law, making it hard for anything pertaining to this plane's magic law to detect him. This was the result of the Shaiha hiding his presence at all times.
'A detection ability that only a few of them could use. This is pretty different in the Human plane,' Kyran thought.
In the Human plane, any mage could learn magic sense. As a matter of fact, it was imperative that they learned it, or they would not be able to manipulate their magic well. In the end, the only difference each human mage had with their magic sense was their level of mastery.
'In any case, Gael did not leave any trace when he took those three, but I have to make these people think another party is helping them. If not, even if the old man disappeared, they might only think he went into hiding.'
With that in mind, Kyran teleported into the building opposite where the three perpetrators hid and summoned three regular puppets. He changed their appearance, making them don the same features as the beast-like.
'Now the only problem is imitating the feel of this plane's magic.'
It should be noted that the inhabitants of the Somuli plane were not drawing the magic energy in the surroundings when using their magic. Kyran had not fully understood it yet and decided to ask the old man later. Besides, he was curious about how the latter knew he was an outsider.
Since Kyran's puppets could not imitate this plane's use of magic, he only input two commands to them: escape and self-destruct.
Obviously, if they were caught, he could not let the beast-like know they were puppets. If that happened, the fake Somuli Sovereign might think it was Loar's doing, and it would not bode well if he retaliated. Thus, the self-destruct command.
Of course, Kyran still hoped they could escape without any problem because it pained him to lose two fine puppets.
Once the puppets escaped, they would be able to automatically find their way back to Kyran.
By the time Kyran finished what he was doing, the security group members using detection magic, finally arrived outside the building where the three perpetrators had been hiding earlier.
Although the security group did not detect anything at first, they still wanted to check if they missed anything. They were not careless enough to think the perpetrators did not have a way to hide themselves when they used detection skills. This was precisely why many of the scouts they sent out to find them earlier had died because the perpetrators possessed good hiding abilities.
But, of course, Kyran did not know that. He only wanted the security group to believe his puppets were the perpetrators.
'Go,' he finally gave out a command, and the three puppets activated at once.
With swift movements, all three jumped out of the window at the back of the building.
"Deceted movements at the other building!"
One of the security group members shouted while turning toward the opposite building.
"Chase!"
"Don't let them get away!"
One after another, the leaders of the security group gave out a command.
At once, their members regrouped, went inside the building, and chased after Kyran's puppets.
Kyran watched most of the security group members leave. Nevertheless, he noticed a few remained and looked at the building he was in with dubious expressions.
With a slight smile, Kyran thought, 'Seems like there are pretty high-ranking mages among them that had good insight.'
Though he thought this, he was not about to let these people find out if their insight was correct. In a blink of an eye, Kyran disappeared.
Kyran appeared where he sensed Gael was.
The scene he came out to was something he remembered when he first fought him in Tracomill.
The floor was covered with shadows, and several bodies sank into them. These bodies were the rest of the perpetrators who managed to escape.
At least, they thought they had escaped at a safe distance. They were not expecting that a mage who could travel using shadows would be chasing after them.
'You ate them all?' Kyran could not help but frown.
The bodies were unmoving, but Kyran knew they were still alive. It was possible that Gael knocked them out before taking them into his shadows.
Gael's move was correct because if he had taken them in when they were conscious, there would be a huge commotion. Their numbers were far too many compared to the three earlier, so it would have caused a scene, and the security group wandering outside trying to find their traces would hear it.
To avoid that, Gael knocked them out first. Besides, it was easier to take all of them in one go if none were struggling to leave the shadows.
'Yes, Master. Was it not to your liking? Give the word, I will spit them out.'
Gael's choice of words made Kyran imagine a very gory scene.
'No. It's fine, tell me when you do it again. When you take them in, they enter my magic core, and the feeling is not exactly a breeze.'
He remembered how he struggled when he first absorbed Bas and Iss. And then there was also Gael, who almost broke his magic core trying to break free.
Although Gael could only 'eat' living beings with a certain mage level, if it happened that one of them had a pretty strong will, Kyran would be affected as well.
'Apologies, Master!' Gael immediately dropped to the ground as if to kowtow. 'Please, meet a sound punishment for my lack of consideration.'
Kyran shook his head, 'It's fine.'
Soon after, he sensed more presence entering his magic core. After searching for the presence, he could not help but frown slightly.
'They are not all beast-likes.'
'Yes, Master.' Gael nodded as he straightened. He looked at the still-sinking bodies and said, 'Some of them are complete beings. If I am correct, these people can be considered mercenaries rather than having an affiliation.'
'So a Sovereign faction managed to get the services of these people? Where did they find them?'
'From the memories I've taken thus far, they all belonged in a place called Howling Pass. That place is where all outcasts lived.'
'Howling Pass?' Kyran repeated, his frown deepened after recalling something he heard from the first town.
The Howling Pass was where beast-like outcasts and complete beings with Anathema lived. Apart from that, that place was also known for being lawless. Even the law that protected a beast-like from complete beings could not be used in that place. Apparently, something strange on the land itself did not allow the use of magic. For this reason, the law could not be implemented.
'But something is strange about these complete beings,' Gael said with a slight frown. 'Their bodies are similar to humans. I am not talking about how they looked like humans, but their body composition. They also possessed magic cores.
'I think that place is worth investigating, Master.'
