Chapter 973 The Cause of the Fall (6)

Nolan appeared inside the Regis's main house's Throne Room. There, he found Aron seated on a high back chair with a look that said he had been waiting for Nolan's arrival.

Nolan was not surprised, though. As the Human plane's Sovereign, he was aware of what got Aron on edge, which could also be considered a non-internal issue of the plane alone. For this reason, Aron expected Nolan to drop by any moment since the issue happened.

"I could only vaguely sense it, even with my current position. But I suppose it has something to do with that place not originally part of this plane. Can you tell me more about what happened?" Nolan asked, not bothering with formalities but remaining respectful nonetheless.

Then again, formalities were no longer necessary between them. Nolan might have estranged himself from the Regis Clan because he felt responsible for what happened to Cade, but at the end of the day, he was part of the clan since he was Rin's twin brother. In any case, Aron and the rest of the family did not even blame Nolan. To them, Cade only upheld the Regis Clan's moral code of protecting one of them. The result was not ideal, but at least it bought Nolan time to escape and live on.

Aron sighed after hearing Nolan. He expected that to be the case because if the latter were aware of what happened in its entirety, he would not have asked that question and went straight to discussing what they should do. What Nolan referred to as that place was none other than the Regis Terram. He knew Aron, as the Regis Patriarch, had a special connection with the Regis Terram and could sense the strange fluctuation and probably what was happening inside better than he could.

In any case, Nolan felt something big was happening in the Dragon plane where the Regis Terram was originally part of. That was the only reason he could think of that could cause such powerful magic fluctuations to leak out from it, even when the Regis Terram was a realm away from the Dragon plane.

If this happened before the internal conflict in the Ylfaen Empire concluded, Aron would have already sent someone to check what might be causing it. He might have gone there himself. Unfortunately, none of the Regis members could enter the terram after the internal conflict was somewhat resolved.

Aron and the Regis Elders tried to figure out what caused the Regis Terram to 'close.' In the end, the only explanation they could think of was that Ames's appearance, where she interfered and threatened the Soul Emperor from entering the Estate, had caused a huge strain in the terram, affecting its connection to the Dragon plane.

For some time, Aron and the Regis Elders believed this explanation. But now that there was a powerful fluctuation leaking out from it, it overturned their initial explanation.

If the connection of the Regis Terram had truly weakened from Ames's appearance, how could they sense those fluctuations? Though they tried to brush the incident as the terram recovering its connection to the Dragon plane after some time had passed, the fact that none of the Regis members could enter disproved it at once.

While the Regis Terram had been inaccessible for some time, Aron could still vaguely sense what was happening inside. Apart from that, he was the only one who could sense the veil-like object that prevented them from stepping inside. In any case, because Aron possessed a special connection to the Regis Terram as the Regis Patriarch, he was still able to sense inside. However, the veil-like object still obscured what was happening inside from his probing.

This worried Aron further. He worried that something big had happened in the Dragon plane that might have endangered its inhabitants. Although the Dragons were powerful, their existence seemed synonymous with invincibility. This could be considered true in the Lower Realm. In the Higher Realm, there were other clans that could threaten the Dragons.

This news immediately caused Aron's complexion to pale. He rarely showed any change in expression, but it was quite hard to control one's complexion, no matter how good one was in terms of concealing their emotions. The only one who could actually do this was Kyran. But that was because he was wearing a mask most of the time— a mask that physically prevented one's complexion from changing.

"Is it possible for you to share the details?" Aron asked carefully. After all, Nolan was a Sovereign, and he did not want the latter to say something that might affect the internal events of the plane.

"I don't think there is any problem since what happened has something to do with the Lower Realm's future as a whole. But... I honestly am unsure if it would also affect the Human plane moving forward," Nolan admitted. "In any case, I'll tell you the gist of things for now. Because we have visitors coming."

He then smiled wryly and added, "One of whom you may want to prepare the whole clan as well."

Aron's complexion seemed to have gone paler still, if it was even possible. He did not need Nolan to say who it was because he more or less guessed who it was.

"I'm all ears," was all he could respond after a short pause.

An hour later...

The Sovereign's Cradle appeared in the sky of the Ylfaen Empire.

The people who were already aware of the existence of the outsiders saw a golden net that covered the vast sky. These people felt conflicted because they also knew what the Sovereign Cradle was about and why it would appear.

But the cradle only appeared for a few seconds before it disappeared, as if nothing had been there. This caused these people to wonder if someone from the outside's attempt to enter the plane failed. Thus, the cradle also disappeared. Whatever the cause was, seeing how the vast sky remained peaceful after the cradle disappeared, these people were relieved.

However, the truth of the matter would cause distress to those who knew who entered the plane.

This was especially true in the expressions of Aron and the Regis Elders, along with the ministers of the Royal Court, the leaders of the Alliance, and finally, the new coalition of the noble families.

Ames frowned as she saw several figures coming to greet her and Alastor. She looked at Nolan, standing at the front of the crowd, with a deep scowl as she growled, "I only asked for my people. What are the Royal Family's dogs doing here?"

Nolan only shrugged, unperturbed by Ames's threatening growl. Then he asked, "What trouble has he caught himself with this time?"
