Oceanus, with a sense of urgency, directed his people to swiftly and meticulously transfer all the information they had on the Blade Dancer Clan to his tablet. He also expedited the preparation of the transportation that would safely and efficiently take Kyran and Leif to the Blade Dancer Clan's plane.
Information about Kyran and Leif's itinerary had to be kept confidential, so Oceanus could not assign just any of his people to the task of preparing their transportation. In fact, he made it appear that he was the one leaving and that Leif would only be accompanying him. As for Kyran, his inclusion was not mentioned. He would not even show up when Oceanus and Leif boarded the transportation.
However, Kyran confirmed that he had a means of boarding. Thus, they did not have to concern themselves with how to stow him in secretly.
Once Oceanus received the Blade Dancer Clan's information, he transferred it to the tablet he gave Kyran during their first in-person meeting.
Kyran was impressed at how efficiently Oceanus's people worked. In just a few minutes, they transferred probably a lifetime's worth of information on the Blade Dancer Clan.
As the transportation was being prepared, Kyran eagerly delved into reviewing the Blade Dancer Clan's information.
Since there was still time before they left for the Blade Dancer Clan's plane, and Kyran was glued to the tablet, reading the information he got, Oceanus decided to take that moment to catch up with his daughter, Leif.
Leif seemed to have the same thoughts because she was looking at her father while biting her lower lip. She seemed to be contemplating how to start a conversation between them.
'I don't think it is necessary to be secretive since he seemed to have his full attention on reading the Blade Dancer Clan's information,' Oceanus decided to speak to his daughter telepathically.
'Hm... I suppose you're right, Father,' Leif replied while looking at Kyran.
"It will seem rude to use telepathy, so let's talk freely," Oceanus continued with a slight smile and glanced at Kyran's profile. He felt that it was better to be as transparent as possible with the younger man since he already agreed to an alliance.
Besides, Oceanus could not ignore the feeling that Kyran would know if he and Leif talked behind his back.
Oceanus's feelings were not unfounded. In fact, even if Kyran were not paying attention to them, with his naturally enhanced senses, beings like Oceanus and Leif would not be able to hide their emotions. Since both Oceanus and Leif were pure mages, they relied on magic items or spells to conceal their emotions and tricks.
However, they would not be able to conceal the minute changes in their physical— whether internal or outer— conditions.
For example, Oceanus and Leif could conceal the fluctuations in their surroundings while conversing through telepathy. But once they reacted to each other's words, Kyran could easily detect the minute change in their breathing, heart rate, and even the slight change in their facial expressions or body movements.
Kyran would not know what they were talking about, but the fact that they were conversing in secret was enough to confirm that their topic was related to him in one way or another. That was enough for him to change his mind about trusting Oceanus and Leif.
"I agree," Leif smiled and nodded in agreement to her father's suggestion.
"If you are uncomfortable about sharing what happened in the tower, then just say what you are comfortable sharing."
Leif shook her head at once, "It is fine. Null did not exactly prohibit us from talking. Of course, we have to be careful about who will hear us."
She then turned to look toward Kyran's direction as if wanting to affirm if she was correct in thinking that way.
"Very well."
The aide lowered his head before leaving.
Kyran put down the tablet in his hand and looked at Oceanus. He then said, without waiting for the latter to announce anything, "Overlord Oceanus, you and Lady Leif can board the ship as agreed. I'll follow after you depart."
Oceanus more or less guessed that Kyran intended to use his magic to follow. But as far as he understood, Kyran could only use his magic on places he had been to.
So how...?
"Please go. You'll know it soon enough," Kyran replied as if reading through Oceanus's thoughts again.
Oceanus sighed, "Ha... How are you doing that? I now understand that concealment is not your innate ability, so does that mean it's reading minds?"
Leif was the one who clarified that Kyran's concealment was not an ability. However, she attributed it to one of the Void's nature rather than the Heart of the Cosmos's ability.
Oceanus and Leif left soon after that, leaving Kyran alone in the room.
Kyran took a deep breath after the two left and rubbed the bridge of his nose. For the first time after his body underwent enhancement, he experienced a very bad headache. The cause was not because of the conversation between Leif and Oceanus but the information he had read about the Blade Dancer Clan.
Although he had yet to read everything, he already had a good understanding of the internal relationship of the five Blade Houses that constitute the Blade Dancer Clan.
The Blade Dancer Blade Houses represent the five prominent innate magic that their members possess: Chakram, Labrys, Halberd, Katar, and Sound.
The first four houses were all weapons that could be considered rare in the Lower Realm. However, the fifth house seemed to deviate from the norm and was called Sound. This was not to say that the Sound House members could not use weapons. As a matter of fact, it was better to consider their members as rare talents who possessed two innate magic.
Their members could also use Weapon magic and summon swords, spears, or daggers. However, their most prominent innate magic just happened to be Sound magic.
Alta, the scary woman Kyran encountered in the unnamed plane, was part of the Sound House. Shiloh, as well.
In any case, based on Ogen's information, the Sound House, with their rare affinity with both weapons and sound, were well-received outside the Blade Dancer Clan. When other clans requested assistance from the Blade Dancer Clan, most of them requested mages or combat mages from the Sound House. Because of this, their reputation and network were far greater than the other houses. Find your next adventure on мѵʟ
Contrary to the fame they received from the outside, however, the Sound House was pretty much like a pariah within the Blade Dancer Clan. That did not mean they were severely ostracized, though. Their Head of Clan made sure that they were still treated fairly.
Speaking of the Blade Dancer's Head, Geir, Kyran found it strange that he was known as a pushover yet managed to preserve the peace within his clan's houses. This alone meant he could not be underestimated just because he always followed The Emperor's orders without questions.
Considering all these, Kyran realized how hard it was to make a move on the Blade Dancer Clan since his informants were part of the Sound House. Since they were not well-received within their own clan, if he made a wrong move, it might trigger the other houses to make a move on them instead.
'I have to think through my next move properly. If not, I will end up losing a good opportunity...'
No one knew what Kyran was thinking at those moments. But if they did, they might faint in shock at its audacity.
