Swift Death was facing Xavier, and her back was to Trent, and she was close to him. Trent took this as the best opportunity to lessen the enemy forces by one. He immediately pounced toward her, but she didn’t even spare a glance at him or flinched because she knew someone had her back.
“Clang!”
Trent’s blade that was dropping towards her was not only stopped by Roy with the roar of the sword but also forced out of his hand.
Roy said, “Your opponent is me.”
Roy started the game where he was the hunter and Trent was his prey.
As they exchanged moves, Swift Death stepped towards Xavier.
Xavier looked at her and asked, “Why are you helping him?”
“He’s my master, and I am on his payroll. Who else would I help if not him?!” She answered.
“You’re playing with fire.” Xavier threatened, “If the organization knows you’re serving a target you were once given a task to kill and even interfering with the hunts of its silver-ranked members, they won’t stop at anything to send you off to hell.”
“Oh.” Swift Death looked nervous for a moment, and then she threatened back innocently, “And who would tell them that?”
Only dead man tells no tale.
How could Xavier not understand that she was threatening to kill him?
“You crazy bastard! Don’t forget who I am! You’re not my match!” Xavier shouted, saliva flowing out his mouth.
“That would’ve been the case if you were in perfect condition. But now, haha! How long can you survive against me when the only thing going for you is the cheap runic weapon in your off-hand!” After speaking, Swift Death rushed at him with daggers in her hands.
They clashed several times in a minute, and then she teleported behind him to deal a fatal blow, but he was expecting that and whipped his body around in time, deflecting her weapons and causing her to go out of balance and stumble backwards. Seeing this, he jumped forward and tried to slice her apart. His sword was approaching her when she suddenly teleported again and appeared behind him.
Puchi! Puchi!
Before he could react, he was stabbed six times; his spine was crushed, and so were his lungs and windpipe.
He died a suffocating and painful death.
His body fell and laid down on the ground. He died with eyes opened wide in disbelief as if saying, “Didn’t you have a cooldown on your ability? How were you able to teleport twice in three seconds?”
She looked down at him in disgust and disappointment. “A month has passed since you tried to **** me. How could you expect me to remain the same?”
The system’s notification rang in Roy’s ears.
『Ding! Congratulation. Your subordinate has killed a Medium-Leveled Weapon Master. You get +30 EXP』
“Your partner is dead. As Swift Death’s master, it won’t look good if I don’t end this fight soon. It’s time you get sent off to hell!” Roy said.
Trent felt offended, and he was also angry as Xavier was his close friend, so he stopped holding back and summoned two huge waves of blades that were 10 meters long each. But this also resulted in him getting exhausted to the point that his cheeks sunk in, and his facial bones became visible.
“You will be the one to die!” He crossed his arms, and both the sharp waves attacked Roy simultaneously. Expectations were for him to get sandwiched and skewered by the blades. Reality was a thousand times different, however.
Roy’s body changed form, becoming wisps of mist that couldn’t be hurt by physical attacks, and those mists circled their way through the two waves made of blades to reach and wrap around Trent.
Surrounded by mist on all four sides, Trent was trapped in darkness, and hence he felt troubled and panicked.
He summoned two more blades and started swinging them around, hoping to cut open a way out of it.
As he was doing it, a hand shot out of the mist and grabbed the back of his in a vicious grip. He tried to resist, but he was mercilessly raised above his feet like a doll and strangled so ferociously that the sound of bones cracking echoed.
“Crack!” His neck cracked, and his body turned limp in Roy’s hand.
『Ding! Congratulation. You have killed an advanced-level Weapon Master. You get +300 EXP!』
Hearing this notification helped him confirm that he was dead. He let him go, and his body dropped to the ground like a broken doll.
『Ding! Congratulations on completing the “Kill the Assassin” quest!』
『+4 Skill points obtained 』
『+4 Stat Points Obtained』
『Like a Ghost Movement Technique Obtained』
The wisps landed close to the corpse and compiled into Roy.
“You ran at me, thinking you were predators, but I haunted you to death, and now I will laugh looking at your corpses. This is what you get for misjudging the situation and aiming for my life!” Roy laughed at the losers. This was his first time killing a human, but instead of feeling off, he was full of joy.
After seeing them dead, the craziness in Roy lessened a little.
But he still looked like a maniac who was ready to kill.
Seeing him like that, Swift Death feared approaching him and stopped at a distance from him.
“You weren’t this cold. Are you still yourself?” She asked.
Roy turned to look at her and said, “Well, Delilah… this body and its amazing power comes with a price. The night’s mist soul shard has changed me for sure. It made me less prudent and helped me realize that there exist pure evils that need not be understood, spared, or compromised with, and only killed. You see, at the sight of them, I just start losing control!”
Roy wasn’t an idiot. He has changed so much after merging with the soul shard. Thus, what caused that change was apparent to him.
Delilah went up to him fearlessly, “But you spared me.”
“That was then, and this is now.” Roy suddenly grabbed her by the chin and brought her face close to him, only to whisper in her ears, “And… you’re better to me alive than dead.”
Being so close to him helped her see the physical changes in his body.
Delilah found them weird and uttered, “Your eyes….”
Roy freed her and questioned, “What about them?”
Delilah raised her hand and touched his face as she answered, “They’ve changed.”
