Chapter 169 Icy Cold Land

Just like its name, this tract of land found in the Far West Major World was cold and covered in a layer of snow. It was dozens of miles long and hundreds of miles wide.

While following Roy, Aydin and Maya, moving in a circular motion like playful kids, took in their surroundings and felt mesmerized.

Reflected in the eyes of the half-elves was the scene of snow draping the ground in the same way a body would be draped in a blanket.

But that was not all.

About 10 feet behind them, it was raining and thundering, with lightning flashing across the sky occasionally.

Here, it was just snowing.

“Amazing!”

Maya smiled faintly at the sight of the two different worlds presented to her.

“I never thought I would get to personally experience what I had once read.”

She was still hung up on her past.

‘I am worried that we will be abandoned by our current master, then go back to being captives mistreated by the authorities.’

Criminals like them were property of the empire.

If Roy didn’t want them anymore or if he freed them, they would go back to being slaves that would be captured and sold to others.

‘Brother said we couldn’t trust him.’Maya thought thoughtfully, ‘But what if he finds us annoying and discards us because we are overly suspicious of everything and even guarded again him? It’s not like he is short on capable retainers and maids. He is looked favourably upon by even a grandmaster like Lord Arlo. If he thinks we can’t be helped, he might just abandon us and move. No, before that day comes, I must prove to him that we are worthwhile to keep around.’

She will feel less stressed only when Roy finds value in her or her brother. She didn’t want to live like an animal locked up in a cage again.

She might not come off as smart at first glance, but when she puts her head to use, she is surprisingly smart.

“The cold, icy land has a completely different environment compared to the road we took to reach here.” This sight helped Aydin confirm that the tales of the wilderness outside baronies and counties being huge and full of wonders weren’t false. They weren’t made-up stories, but actually real. “It’s just like I read in a book. I guess… everything is possible in the Far West World.”

Aydin and Maya were no different than curious kids as they admired this place in earnest. It was quite a sight to see.

Roy glanced at them occasionally.

‘They are finally acting like kids, being true to themselves. It looks like they are becoming less conscious of our presence. That’s a good change.’

They were half elves, not exactly humans.

They were different from humans in some ways.

For example, they aged slower than humans, although their bodies developed at the same pace as them.

It wasn’t wrong to say that they were mentally young kids, about 12 or 13 years old.

Thus, Roy wasn’t surprised when he saw them acting like kids.

Ten minutes later.

Assaulted by a cold, brittle breeze, Maya closed her eyes and sat down, wrapping her hands under her knees.

“Too cold. It’s difficult to breathe.” She complained while shivering like a chicken picked up by the butcher.

Exhaling a breath would produce a small, misty cloud, a visible one. It was just that cold.

Aydin and Maya weren’t in the best of shape. As Aydin was a man with elven bloodline, he could endure this much, but the same couldn’t be said for his twin sister.

Maya… she was young and malnourished.

It was impossible for her to continue like this without risking her health and maybe even her life.

“Do something.” Aydin turned to Roy. He had no one else to turn to. “You are our master.”

“Relax, I have us covered.”

An instant after saying those words, he smiled like a prankster and snapped his fingers. Immediately, eight balls of fire, out of thin air, manifested around him, floating up and down, waiting to be commanded.

Roy had started preparing them right after he noticed that it had become hard for the twins to continue walking in this environment.

. Instead of making them fly ahead, he commanded the fireballs to circle them.

The fireballs circled them in the same way planets revolve around the sun.

The temperature in their surroundings increased.

The cold was offset.

Their bodies were warmed by the heat generated by them.

Now, if it was any other fake mage, it would be impossible for them to cast elemental magic.

That’s something only rank-1 mages could do, after all.

Except for those who already knew that Roy, a fake mage, could somehow use elemental magic, everyone present was shocked.

“How can he use…?!” Aydin eyes widened in shock.

‘He is an unawakened. I’m certain of that.’

The fact that Roy wanted to participate in the adulthood ceremony proved that he was yet to awaken.

‘But he can cast elemental magic just like rank-1 mages. And his control over his spells exceeds that of rank-1 mages. So absurd! If he hides nothing at the adulthood ceremony and shows the world how amazing he is, it would only take him one announcement to make knights and mages flock to him and swear loyalty.’

Aydin was certain that Roy would attract followers left and right after becoming a adult and he felt threatened. If he didn’t step up his game, he might lose his job as his slave.

“Wow!” Maya’s eyes widened in amazement as she watched the fireballs pass by her again and again.

“This…” Arlo’s mind went blank, and he came to a standstill.

After a brief moment, he awoke from his trance and thinned his lips into a heartfelt smile.

‘His magic spell module must be inexplicably great.’

He continued walking. This time around, he was whistling in joy.

‘He excels in both magic and aura techniques. That’s good news, considering he is a part of the clan and doesn’t have irreconcilable enmity with us, well… uh, some of us.’

Arlo corrected himself.

What Noah had done to this nephew of his wasn’t something that could be forgiven.

Badulf, too, didn’t deserve Roy’s mercy.

The person behind the parasite incident must also be from Badulf’s family.

That person deserved to be killed.

It was impossible for Roy to exist under the same sky as the people who tried to kill him.
