“Ghost. That’s what my underling communicated to me just before I lost my spiritual connection with him.”
A spiritual connection between two spirits can only be cut if one dies. Everyone considered him dead in their hearts but didn’t mention it. They didn’t want to tell their father that his son had died as it was something he didn’t want to hear and would only work to sadden him further. Being his underling meant being its son. The world of the spirits was different than humans.
“Father, do you mean a powerful ghost is haunting this corridor?” The rank-2 spirits looked at their father in shock.
The rank-3 gave them a nod and spoke.
“Yes. It must have snuck here from the Ashen lands. It has disobeyed the command of our God. So, it is but a heathen. Fear it not. Harden your heart, grab your weapons and seek it out. We must eradicate it.”
“Avenge our fallen comrades!”
Following its command, they all set out in search of the ghost haunting the corridor, rushing in the same direction.
They were completely unaware that the ghost they were looking for was in their blind spot.
A shadow arose from the spot thirteen feet behind them.
It quickly shaped into a human.
This human was Roy.
His eyes were covered in a layer of frostiness.
With the help of his skill, He had seen the dirty things they had done in the past.
The number of pure-blooded they killed was around 25.
They were just puppets. His ancestor breathed life into them. Yet, they have forsaken him and joined hands with a sinister force. Not only that, they sacrificed descendants of their creators to it. They were biting the hands that fed them yet still considered themselves to be in the right. How utterly shameless!
He wanted to do nothing but take them out.
Two thousand wisps of mana flooded out of him. None of them sensed it. Mana had no weight and didn’t give off any feeling until it gained an attribute. He wasn’t the horned serpent whose mana was of a blue color. His mana was pure. It looked blue to the wise eyes and could be seen, but their back was to him, so they didn’t see it.
Furthermore, Great energy fluctuations were taking place in the corridor. However, they didn’t have a sixth sense like Roy, and thus they couldn’t sense it.
Every fifty wisps of mana gathered in one spot in mid-air, fusing with each other and transforming into the shape of a spear. He applied the principle of Force to them, and they actually hardened into spears, becoming life-like.
‘Not enough.’
Only weapons enhanced with Aura Force can cut through divine steel. With this thought in his mind, Roy released thousands of units of aura from his body. Waves of aura gushed out of his pores in large amounts.
Force was a power unique to Aura masters. It allowed them to create solid weapons with nothing but their aura and increase the penetrating power of their weapons multiple times over. Roy’s Arrow Force coated the 40 or so spears. Their color changed. From blue, they turned black.
“Still not enough.” Streaks of lightning silently surged out of him and infused with the spears, quadrupling their offensive power. They now crackled with black sparks. This sound caught the attention of the spirits who were moving away from Roy. They turned to the source of the sound, and flashes of darkness blinded them.
Then… they were no more!
“Everyone, jump into the void!”
The rank-3 spirit was a little too late in warning them.
…
Some seconds ago.
“The only one avenging others today will be me! Fucking die!” Roy raised his hand and stretched his middle finger towards them.
Whoosh!
He hadn’t even started speaking when all the spears pieced through the air like bolts of lightning and directly struck the rank-2 and rank-3 Armored Spirit Archers.
Boom! Bam! Zap! Boom!
The spears pierced their husk, went all the way in their chest, and still advanced forward, branching out of their back; following that were black aura electric currents spreading out of the spears that had accurately buried themselves in their chest. They were violent enough to destroy skyscrapers. They instantly disintegrated their magic circle, turning a part of their metallic body into powder and exploding the rest.
All the rank-2 armored spirit archers were blasted to smithereens!
Only their father survived the assault as he escaped into the void before the spear could annihilate him!
『Ding! Congratulation. You styled on 16 rank-2 Armored Spirit Archers. You have collected 230 True Dragon’s fire essences from them. For slaying them with style, you will be additionally rewarded. Thanks to this timely notification forwarded to him by the system, he realized that the rank-3 spirit had survived the deadly assault.
He narrowed his eyes, focusing on sensing the changes in his surroundings.
Seconds later, he sensed three energy fluctuations six steps ahead of him. At the same time, a foreboding feeling filled him. He could feel a tingling sensation on his head and Chest.
‘Whatever is coming will strike me in these two places.’ He had just determined where he was being aimed at when three arrows escaped the void, charging towards his head and chest.
He had already determined their trajectory. Thus, Roy easily avoided them with his agile movements. At the same time, he remained on alert, vigilantly scanning his surroundings with his sixth sense, and he sensed it! He sensed an energy fluctuation just ahead of him.
Plop!
Out of thin air, the rank-3 spirit popped out, towering over him. It was as wide as Roy but two times taller than him. Anyone else in Roy’s shoes would feel oppressed standing so close to such a giant, but he… he literally didn’t have the heart to feel anything ah! His heart had turned to mist.
“Heathen, Die!” In its hand was an arrow made of Force. It was instantly brought down towards Roy.
