Chapter 368 Tracing The Footstep Of The Armored Knight To Find A Treasure (Last Part)

A long time ago, Arthur, the Firstborn of the Fierce Sword Count, foiled the plans of the insidious undead, saving the lives of countless soldiers and the Northern Commander, the governor of the northern frontier also known as the tallest and the oldest wall of human civilization that guarded against the evils of the uncharted land.

The fact that a youngster saved so many lives and even rescued the Northern Commander, a man considered to be the national treasure of the empire, raised a commotion in the court.

Some requested the Emperor to make him a general so as not to waste his talent any longer and let him learn under the Northern Commander.

In contrast, half of the court stood totally against it as they were unwilling to see someone not of their camp to rise to such glorious height and gain unprecedented backing.

Arthur's performance was worthy of a reward, but he was too young to be rewarded excessively.

Using this reason, the henchmen of the Left Minister were stopping the Emperor from rewarding Arthur fairly.

The Court was split into two.

The Emperor had the final say, and he was known for cherishing talent.

Against all opposition, he rewarded Arthur with the position of a general in the northern army, causing him to become the youngest general in the empire.

This put a dent in his relationship with the Left Minister, but he didn't regret it.

He was the Emperor, not someone's puppet. The subject should be influenced by his master's words and thoughts, not the other way around!

When he heard his words, the Left Minister's expression distorted as if he was suffering from diarrhea.

There were only four generals under the Northern Commander, and the eldest young master of Baldwin County became the fifth!

Overlooking his minister's shock, the emperor had continued speaking. Each time he had opened his mouth, the heart of the poor minister was shaken.

The second time the Emperor opened his mouth to speak, Arthur was decreed to become the first direct disciple of the Northern Commander.

As it was an imperial decree, it couldn't be avoided, or else it would be considered treason, and the punishment for such a crime was execution.

The Northern Commander couldn't go against this decree even if he wanted to, and it's not like he had a legit reason to not accept Arthur as his direct disciple.

Arthur had saved his life!

He had to take him in as his disciple to not only not displease the emperor but also repay the heavy debt he had incurred due to carelessness.

The last thing bestowed to him by the Emperor was the Seven Star & the Three Blessings Fruit!

Although at the peak of his life, Arthur was suppressed by Damien, and his deeds weren't as impressive as his, he didn't fail to impress the Emperor. As a result, he gained such a windfall.

The emperor's emissary personally came to deliver it to him, causing quite a commotion. After all, seeing someone from the Forbidden Capital in the Nothern Frontier was a rare sight. The death rate was ridiculously high in the Northern Frontier, so anyone even slightly well-off avoided it like the plague. Nobles and the like didn't even bother looking in its direction. The idea of touring or investing in it was considered distasteful.

But it wasn't as bad as they thought, as civilians there were rarely harmed. Towering ancient walls, arch trees, hot-blooded youths, and calm, unnerving veterans protected them. It was the soldiers that died every day fighting the undead, stopping them from breaching the wall.

Arthur was an aura master, so the Seven Star & the Three Blessings Fruit didn't mean much to him. It could greatly enhance the capabilities of a class weapon of a Weapon Master or a Level-1 mage but only slightly strengthen the class weapon of an aura master.

Rather than wasting it on himself, he exchanged it for a beneficial deal.

It was given to Noah, the second son of the Fierce Sword Count.

In return, Arthur got to abuse Noah's ability to the limit.

By the empire's standards, Noah's spellbook was already considered unique. Crystal was considered more precious than gold and silver, and his spellbook allowed him to create that material out of thin air.

After he took the Seven Star & the Three Blessings Fruit, his spellbook became more fearsome, allowing him to create crystals in massive amounts and bend their shape as per his desire.

It wasn't the best offensive-type spellbook, but its defensive capabilities were pretty much unrivaled in the same category, and so was its ability to make its user filthy rich.

A bar of crystal was worth a thousand gold coins.

Noah could create 50 bars per day without risking his health.

That equated to 50 thousand gold coins a day, and 1.5 million gold coins a month, which was more than enough to buy a rank-5 artifact.

However, all the money Noah had made since he awakened through this method was transferred to Arthur.

The agreement with the help of which Noah acquired the unique fruit stated that he must use the special effect of his class weapon to raise 1.5 m gold coins for his eldest brother every month for nine years!

Furthermore, the crystals Noah created were durable and tough, and thus, they were in high demand. It was a type of metal that would be used in casting low-level or high-level runic weapons.

They never faced any trouble selling them.

The price of crystals never deflated.

Rather it had inflated over the years as the demand had increased.

So Arthur was guaranteed 1.5 m gold coins a month.

When this news circulated, everyone was envious of Arthur, including the Armored Knight.

Arthur invested it all in the Northern Frontier, modernizing it and building new houses for the civilians and barracks for the soldiers, both of which were equipped with magical arrays that could make life easier and more comfortable.

After repeatedly performing meritorious deeds, he came to be known as the Winter General and was held in high regard by the soldiers of the Northern Frontier.

Seeing his fame increase day by day, the Armored Knight went green with envy. Obviously, they joined the army at the same age, but why was he still a foot soldier while the other had risen up to become a general?

The Armored Knight attributed Arthur's rise to his background and the fruit he got from the Emperor.

Seeing that very fruit before him, he was so excited that his eyes went red. And no, he didn't intend to use it on himself. He planned to trade it for riches to live a carefree life.

Without looking around, he plucked it out of the ground, only to earn a murderous glare and a howl from a towering beast.

Only then did he remember that such treasures found in nature are usually protected by beasts, and the one he offended was giving off the vibe of an aura monster.

He was obviously not a match for such a beast and thus ran away without looking back. The aura beast chased him to the edge of a cliff.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, the Armored Knight chose to die a less painful death. In his mind, plunging to his death would be far less painful than getting eaten alive.

As the beast closed in on him, he gave it a resentful look and opened his mouth wide to swallow the fruit in one gulp.

This irked the beast, and it clawed at him.

But its claw didn't reach him as he had fallen off the cliff.

It's just that he didn't die like he and the aura beast expected.

Rather, he ended up in the Ashen Land.

He was the first man to discover a secret opening to the Ashen Land, and he abused it multiple times to save his life.

He wouldn't have survived venturing through the Ashen Land for the first time if he hadn't eaten the Seven Stars and the Three Blessings fruit to announce the aura beast. It had strengthened his magical abilities before he woke up in the Ashen Land. If that hadn't happened, he would have been killed by the nightmares dwelling there.

"I have wasted an hour searching for it but haven't even caught sight of it." complained a handsome man with a youthful face.

He was standing on top of a tree, scrutinizing the surroundings with a sharp gaze. He wasn't relying only on his eyes to search for the Seven Stars and the Three Blessing fruit but also his skills. His sixth eye allowed him to see through the many obstacles, and with the help of his sixth Sense, he located the monster and magic herbs and shrubs in the vicinity. While these herbs could indeed be used to make potions, he wasn't interested in them. He determined that they weren't what he was looking for as their energy fluctuation was weak. The Seven Stars and the Three Blessings fruit was rare, so its energy function was bound to be strong and intense.

A while later, Roy's frown deepened. There was no sign of it here either.

"Is this the difference between a minor character and a character that wasn't mentioned in the novel? The Armored Knight can stumble on it while hunting for lowly magical beasts, but I can't get close to it even after giving my all," he said disappointedly.
