As Roy approached the ruins of Celestia, he marveled at the intricate petal-shaped monument that loomed before him.
The crumbling stone structure was the last remaining vestige of a once-great civilization that had been destroyed centuries ago.
Despite the age and wear of the monument, it still retained an eerie beauty, with its ornate carvings and faded glyphs etched into its surface.
However, any sense of awe was quickly extinguished when he reached its center and his gaze fell upon the Lich defensively standing before the monument.
His chilling gaze landed on him threateningly, and Roy met his gaze with equal ferocity.
"You should not have come here," the Lich warned, his eyes never leaving Roy. "This is sacred ground, and I will not allow you to defile it."
Roy stood his ground, his eyes fixed on the Lich's.
"I have come to seek the stone of history that can foil Chaos's and Death's insidous plan" he replied resolutely. "I will not be deterred by your threats."
The Lich chuckled, a sound that reverberated through the clearing like a mocking bird.
"You are a fool," the lich sneered. "What you seek is not what you think it is. It will bring nothing but sorrow and pain to the already suppressed and tortured souls. I cannot let you take it."
"You can't stop me." Roy said.
Without warning, the Lich raised its staff, pointing it at Roy.
"May you be doomed!" The lich cursed.
Whoosh!
In an instant, a red spear crackling with lightning flew through the air, hurtling towards Roy with deadly speed.
Just as it wss about to pierce him, Roy tilted his body to the side, dodging the spear with a hairbreadth's precision, narrowly avoiding certain death.
Bomb!
The spear whizzed past him and struck a nearby decaying building, causing a massive explosion that sent clouds of dust billowing into the air and blew open a hole in it.
"You dodged that?" the Lich exclaimed in surprise. "You are faster than you look."
"Pray that you are fast too, or you won't know what hit you!" Roy retorted, his fists crackling with black aura lightning.
He punched the air and a cluster of black aura lightning burst forth from his knuckles, hurtling towards the Lich with a deafening roar.
"If you think I will be so easily defeated, you're so wrong."
The lich raised his staff, and a black hole expanded from its tip, swallowing the lightning whole before closing again.
"What did you just do?" Roy asked, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"This is no ordinary staff. It's the Void Staff, my class weapon," the Lich replied, his voice filled with pride as he twirled the staff in his hands.
Roy was surprised.
After all, it was not considered for an awakened to maintain their class weapons after turning into an undead!
Class weapons needed the sea of magic or the inner world to survive. The inner world and the sea of magic of undead were barren and empty of life. It couldn't sustain class weapons!
Seeing the look on his face, the lich laughed, "Yes, just like you, I was once alive. Those were good times, but I don't regret giving up my humanity to defend the beliefs of my race. And now, I'll use the Void Staff to stop you from shattering their beliefs."
The Void Staff's first specialty was to swallow attacks, and its second ability was to release what it has stored.
The lich had only shown half of what it could do, but now he was ready to show its full potential.
"Have a taste of your own medicine." the lich said.
Roy's eyes thinned to the size of needles in shock as a black hole opened up before him.
The air around it shimmered and rippled like a disturbed pond, causing it to look like a gaping maw of a galactic beast that seemed to defy the very laws of the world.
Roy's sixth sense alerted him to the danger that was imminent, causing him to immediately attempts to dodge to the side.
But his movements were a bit too slow!
Bam!
A cluster of crackling black lightning exploded from the void, slamming into him with the force of a freight train. The impact was so great that it sent Roy hurtling through the air, shattering through buildings and sending clouds of debris cascading around him.
pαпdα Йᴏνê|,сòМ "That surely caught him off guard."
The lich, observing the chaos he had wrought with a cold detachment, allowed a moment of satisfaction to wash over him.
"It it over?" he wondered if his opponent had been vanquished.
Just then, Roy erupted from the dust clouds like a raging storm.
"It's far from over!" Roy exclaimed thunderously, lightning crackling around him.
At this moment, he looked like a furious god of lightning.
Roy flew towards the lich on his sword with such speed that the distance between them seemed to evaporate, and in what seemed like a fraction of a second, he reached mere inches from the lich, his sword poised to strike.
However, before Roy could deliver the fatal blow, a sudden distortion in space and time ripped through the air, and the lich was enveloped by a swirling black hole, which whisked him away to the center of the monument.
The lich looked up at Roy, a flicker of shock rippling through the wisps of fire that burned in his eye sockets.
"How are you unharmed?!" the lich demanded, his voice laced with disbelief.
"I have tempered my body with the power of Black Aura Lightning. I am immune to it! Any lightning, as strong or weaker than that, can't hurt me!" Roy proclaimed with confidence.
Roy darted towards the lich once more on his sword, looking like a sword god.
"Rise, oh barrier of protection, forged in the flames of the righteous! Shield me from all harm, and break the darkness that seeks to consume me."
The lich chanted in a language Roy couldn't understand as he slammed the bottom of his staff into the ground with a resounding boom.
In an instant, a wall of pure, white light erupted from the ground, stretching as far as the eye could see, enveloping the monument and the lich inside it in a protective embrace, its power rippling through the air like a storm.
Its edges were jagged and rough, like the teeth of a beast, and was crackling with raw power and holy energy.
Roy felt his black aura retracting at the sight of it.
