What poison did you put inside my body?
As a celebration for Tu Yan’s smooth-sailing comeback, the group of wealthy young masters went to the bar below Guan Nan’s place for an extravagant surprise, saying that they wanted to help Tu Yan dispel bad luck and give him a welcome dinner.
It’s nothing more than finding an excuse to drink together. Tu Yan didn’t want to go at first, but Shen Fei was consistently persuading him to come, wanting to let him loosen up. Tu Yan couldn’t find an explanation and could only say that there were some matters to attend to at home. He’d arrive late, so they should start first.
Tu Yan was communicating with a director for a new drama. Because he had been in similar genres before, he actually didn’t want to accept the role, but the crew offered a high pay, so he was a little hesitant. After a few rounds of discussion, he still couldn’t make up his mind. The director said it was alright and they could wait for Tu Yan to think it through again. After all, this bomb of a news about Tu Yan’s comeback didn’t stop the flow of traffic to bringing in new dramas at all; the film crew would not give up so easily.
Just as Tu Yan reached the company, he was picked up to attend a live broadcast program. He sat in the car and studied the program’s schedule, which would start at the site. Fortunately, he had run programs before, and half a year later, he was still quite skilled at his work and quickly entered the state of mind for the situation.
After finishing the day’s schedule, he got to the bar by car. As soon as he opened the door, he heard Guan Nan talking loudly in a drunken high.
“Do you guys know what Tu Yan’s like? Relying on his dad’s wealth, never made eye contact with people at school, talking to you was doing charity work, and thinking it’s too dirty to bump into you. Only he’s the white swan, while everyone else are the chickens in the chicken coop!”
Shen Fei frowned as he listened, “What’re you talking about? Tu Yan is only a little arrogant.”
Head swirling from too much alcohol, Guan Nan became talkative and straightforwardly exposed, “Shen Fei, don’t speak for him. Good and evil will be accounted for. His dad is even more of an idiot; for the sake of a few hundred million, he thickened his skin and sold his son to a cripple from someone’s family to be his wife?
It’s hilarious whenever I think about it. You all haven’t seen what Tu Yan looked like when his dad forced him to get married half a year ago. His dad faced the Gu family with snot and tears and said, ‘Yan Yan, dad is doing this for your own good’…”
Everyone burst into laughter. Only Shen Fei looked unhappy, he whispered, “Guan Nan, stop talking.”
The meddlers asked further, “Were you there then?”
Actually, Guan Nan wasn’t there, he only heard it from the Gu family’s driver and other people bragging about it, but he still straightened his neck and said, “Yeah I was.”
“So did you see what Gu er1 looked like?”
“Gu er…wasn’t there then. In other words, I’ve never seen Gu er before.”
Someone else asked, “Right, how are you so close to Tu Yan now?”
Guan Nan waved his hand, “It’s my dad’s orders. He said that the Tu family’s business had gone back on track; the two families should continue to cooperate in the future, so he told me not to have a fallout with Tu Yan, if not why would laozi be willing to organize this lousy party for him?”
Before his voice died down, the door behind them was kicked open. When everyone turned around and saw Tu Yan standing by the door, they were all so frightened that they stood up and stared speechlessly at one another. Guan Nan instantly sobered up, walking over and said awkwardly, “I drank too much and was joking around, young master Tu, don’t take it seriously.”
“Sorry, I’m taking it seriously.”
Tu Yan lifted his eyelids and glanced at him coldly, then punched Guan Nan right in the face.
The surrounding crowd immediately came up to break up the fight, Shen Fei also hurriedly held Tu Yan in his grasp, but Tu Yan threw him off and punched again. Although Guan Nan was a little afraid of Tu Yan, he was still raised with a golden spoon, how could he suffer this sort of anger? He then rushed forward and exchanged blows with him. Everyone intervened to help and the scene rapidly became chaotic. For a brief moment, the sound of broken glass and chairs falling filled the whole room.
Then, someone kicked Tu Yan in the crotch, making him inhale a deep breath and barely standing firm with a hand on the doorknob.
When Shen Fei caught sight of it, he shouted to stop, “Young master Tu is hurt!”
Although the Tu family wasn’t as good as before, they remained influential, and in addition to Tu Yan being a current popular celebrity, getting hurt wasn’t a small deal. Everyone was startled when they heard it, and they slowly stopped.
Shen Fei immediately asked, “Young master Tu, are you okay?”
Tu Yan shook his head and got up slowly, his eyes dark and insidious. He walked forward and grabbed Guan Nan’s collar, “Wait for me.”
When Tu Yan turned around and exited the bar’s entrance, Shen Fei saw that his thin shirt on his back was completely drenched, his forehead continuously dripping with cold sweat, and his entire body turned weak and frail. Shen Fei said worriedly, “Young master Tu, you don’t look so good, let me take you to the hospital.”
Tu Yan shook his head, “Not going.”
Shen Fei was about to move closer, but Tu Yan stopped him, “Don’t come close.”
“What’s wrong?”
Tu Yan touched the back of his neck and said in a cold tone, “My inhibitor plaster came off, don’t come close.”
Shen Fei was stunned. He was a beta and couldn’t smell Tu Yan’s pheromones. However, he heard that Tu Yan was a top-grade omega. Once someone smelled his heat-induced pheromones, the consequences would be unimaginable. He asked, “So what should we do?”
“Please help me go to the drug store and get a strong inhibitor, one used for approaching heat periods.” After Tu Yan said this, he fished out his car keys and quickly sat in the car, shutting the door tightly, as if locking his pheromones in the car.
Seeing this, Shen Fei immediately turned to buy it.
Tu Yan felt like his body was being split in half, one half roasted by fire, while the other was covered with ice and snow, alternating between heat and cold. His glands were swollen and itchy, even more agnozing than being in heat. An intense yet indescribably unknown feeling coarsed through him rapidly,
Suffering in endurance, Shen Fei then called him and ask, “That, young master Tu, the pharmacist asked…have you had sexual intercourse in the past month?”
Stunned, Tu Yan said after a long silence, “Yes.”
Shen Fei was evidently taken aback, then he reported it to the pharmacist truthfully. When he delivered the inhibitors to Tu Yan, Tu Yan lay down on the backseat of the car, curling up and drenched in sweat like he was drowning.
Having not seen such an intense reaction to heat before, Shen Fei watched with worry, but he couldn’t do anything to help. As he was about to shut the car door, he heard Tu Yan shout, “Please make a call for me, the one named Gu Chenbai in the log records. Please help me dial it, my hands are all sweaty and I don’t have the strength for it. The password lock is 1234.”
Shen Fei quickly picked up the phone by Tu Yan’s leg and did so.
After he dialed the number, Tu Yan said, “Thank you, Shen ge. Hand me the phone, please shut the car door.”
“Alright.” Shen Fei thought that this name sounded familiar, but he didn’t think much about it. He immediately put the phone by Tu Yan’s ear and withdrew back out. He then shut the door firmly. The moment the car door was closed, he heard Tu Yan’s cry.
It was the sound of very fragile sobs that carried a tone similar to coquetry, completely different to the normal Tu Yan.
He then heard Tu Yan shout in exasperated anger, “Gu Chenbai, what poison did you put inside my body?”
–
When Gu Chenbai arrived, Tu Yan was still tremblingly struggling with the plastic packaging of the inhibitor.
His hands were too sweaty, a few drops of sweat moistening his eyelashes and blurring his vision. The packaging was small and slippery; he felt so anxious that he wanted to cry. If it were before the divorce, he wouldn’t have to suffer this torment alone and wouldn’t need inhibitors, because he had that person.
Tu Yan suddenly shook his head, trying to toss that person’s name out of his mind. He held his breath and continued trying to tear open the packaging.
As soon as he successfully tore open a little opening, the car suddenly opened, carrying in the cold wind. Tu Yan’s hand trembled and he subconsciously moved to the other side of the car to hide. But his entire body was weak and paralyzed, so he could only stay frozen in place. As he was about to yell, he smelled a familiar perfume scent.
Mixed with a faint and soft woody fragrance; it was that person’s most-worn cedar perfume.
Tu Yan opened his mouth, blinking his swollen eyes, and he heard his own voice amplified in the narrow car interior.
“Gu Chenbai…”
As the words escaped his mouth, unexpectedly carrying a cry, Tu Yan bit his lips dazedly and wanted to take it back. He never thought he would rely on someone to the point of being pathetic and helpless.
“I’m late, sorry.”
Before Gu Chenbai sat down, he circled his arms around Tu Yan’s wasit and embraced the sweaty Tu Yan. Tu Yan felt like he was a mollusk tossed around recklessly by Gu Chenbai. Gu Chebai removed the inhibitor from his hand, then supported his back and bent his legs to put Tu Yan on his lap, his arms wrapped tightly around Tu Yan’s waist. The entire car was filled with the ambiguous sound of rustling clothes.
Tu Yan’s eyes were lidded, but he could feel Gu Chenbai’s shine in his line of sight.
Gu Chenbai let Tu Yan lean against his chest as he wiped Tu Yan’s sweat with the paper towel he took from the front seat, wiping from his forehead all the way down to his chest. His action was soft and gentle yet swift. Tu Yan remained still as he let Gu Chenbai toss him about.
“How painful is it? Do you need to go to the hospital?” Gu Chenbai asked.
Tu Yan shook his head and pointed to the inhibitor beside him, “Help me inject it.”
“Are you sure?”
Tu Yan frowned and glanced at Gu Chenbai, “Why are you so long-winded?”
Gu Chenbai checked Tu Yan’s condition again, testing the temperature on his forehead. When he saw that Tu Yan really had no serious issues and had no better options, he could only take the tube of inhibitor that had been gripped into a bad shape and tear open the packaging. He then removed the alcohol swab and syringe.
This type of portable and powerful inhibitor that injects directly into the glands has been widely used in the present day due to its rapid effect and convenience. Of course, it wasn’t Tu Yan’s first time using it. At the beginning of his marriage with Gu Chenbai, this medicine was always readily prepared at home. It was because at that time, Tu Yan didn’t trust Gu Chenbai at all and thought he didn’t have good intentions, so he deliberately bought two large boxes of inhibitors and a bottle of pepper spray, glimmering brightly on the bedside table as a warning.
Of course, he didn’t use it much afterwards.
Gu Chenbai carefully examined the manual again. Only after confirming that there were no side effects, he held Tu Yan’s back and gently called him “Tu Bao” while injecting him with the inhibitor. That tone simply regarded Tu Yan as a little child who was afraid of injections. Feeling a little ashamed and indignited, Tu Yan pinched Gu Chenbai’s thigh. Unfortunately, he didn’t have much strength and Gu Chenbai didn’t notice it, even thinking that Tu Yan was moving around because he disliked the pain. His voice became lower.
Tu Yan suddenly felt that the past replayed; Gu Chenbai was coaxing him like before, and he was also nestled in Gu Chenbai’s arms like he did back then.
It was only unfortunate that they were already divorced.
After it ended, Tu Yan reclined back on Gu Chenbai’s chest, his forehead pressed against Gu Chenbai’s cheek, making him feel discomfort, yet he couldn’t find a more comfortable position.
Gu Chenbai’s right leg had been permanently disabled for many years, so his left leg was strong and sturdy. Sitting on top of it, Tu Yan felt a sense of ease as though he had survived a disaster.
“Do you feel a little better?” Gu Chenbai asked.
Tu Yan remained silent.
“Do you want to rest in the car or go home to sleep?”
Tu Yan opened his eyes and looked at Gu Chenbai, saying grimly, “What are you planning for? We’re already divorced, don’t take advantage of my difficulty.”
Gu Chenbai smiled softly, hugging him into his arms and lowering his head to whisper in his ear, “Tu bao, if I had taken advantage of you, you’d still…”
“You shut up!”
Gu Chenbai had always teased the rabbit until the last point. The corner of his mouth hooked. After a while, he reached forward and touched Tu Yan’s forehead, feeling relieved when he felt his temperature had gone back to normal.
“What happened today?”
“Nothing.” Tu Yan lowered his head as he fiddled with the corner of Gu Chenbai’s shirt.
“Did you get into a fight?”
Tu Yan’s body turned stiff. Before he could say anything, he felt Gu Chenbai’s hand travel along his waist and touch his sore crotch. As soon as he touched this area, Tu Yan trembled, “You got hurt here, and the inhibitor plaster at the back of your neck was ripped off by someone, am I right?”
Tu Yan sealed his mouth, shutting his eyes and tilting his head as he pretended to sleep.
“Did those people use our marriage to mock you?” Gu Chenbai was quiet for a short moment, then he took off his coat and covered Tu Yan’s body with it. He hugged Tu Yan over the material and said softly, “I let you feel wronged, I’m sorry. I thought you’d be relaxed a little after getting a divorce, but I never thought there would still be that kind of slanderous gossip.”
“It has nothing to do with you, don’t flatter yourself.”
“Then, can you cherish yourself a little more in the future? Tu bao, you’re going to fly all over the world after your comeback, I’m afraid I can’t always be there in time.”
Tu Yan pretended to shrink into the coat, but it was actually to arch into Gu Chenbai’s arms. He felt like crying just from hearing Gu Chenbai’s words. If it were before their divorce, he would definitely say fiercely, “No, you must hurry to get here every time.”
But now he couldn’t do that; he wasn’t qualified to say those kinds of things. He could only stick to Gu Chenbai tightly and say “oh”, pretending not to care.
