Wedding Bouquet (1)

Jiang Xing’s brain went blank. Because he was too shocked, his brain got stuck and he forgot what to say.

He froze for a long time, feeling like he shouldn’t be here. He should step back and close the door for them... but that also didn’t seem right!

This, this... what should he do?

And how was this possible?

Wasn’t this ignoring her uncle? This must not be!

Jiang Xing coughed lightly and glanced back and forth between Jiang Xiaoman and Yu Qingshi with sharp eyes, and said solemnly, “Qingshi, come outside with me.”

Yu Qingshi glanced at him nervously, then looked at Jiang Xiaoman and said earnestly, “Then I... I’ll step out with Uncle first.”

Uncle, he was still calling him uncle? Who was his uncle?!

Don’t call him that!

Jiang Xing said with a stern face, “Just call me uncle1.”

This sentence filled with gunpowder caused the atmosphere to instantly become tense.

Jiang Xiaoman felt a little guilty and didn’t dare to speak, but when she heard that her uncle wanted to find fault with her childhood friend, she became worried and said, “Uncle, don’t talk to him, just talk to me.”

“Talk to you? What would I talk to you for?” Jiang Xing stared at her, so angry that smoke was coming out from his forehead.

Jiang Xiaoman hesitated, not daring to speak, instead looking at him timidly and playing with her fingers.

Jiang Xing was pacing around anxiously, feeling that something was going wrong. Originally, he just wanted to educate the children, but now, the sense of crisis in his heart was growing a little bit bigger.

It was the sense of crisis from his little cabbage being stolen away and the corner of his walls being dug down until it crumbled – the feeling was growing stronger and stronger.

Even before anything happened, she was already standing on an outsider’s side. How bad would it be once something actually happened!?

The more Jiang Xing thought about it, the angrier he became and the more he wanted to roll up his sleeves. He thought angrily for a while, and decided that he couldn’t let it go, so he pointed at Yu Qingshi and said, “You, come with me.”

Yu Qingshi nodded silently.

But Jiang Xiaoman stopped him.

She cried and grabbed Jiang Xing’s arm. “Uncle, Uncle, don’t scold him, if you want to look for someone to scold, then just scold me. He’s timid, don’t scare him. I’m the one who took the initiative to seduce him.”

“...” Jiang Xing was so angry he was dumbfounded.

Yu Qingshi was a responsible man. How could he let Jiang Xiaoman take the blame?

“...” Jiang Xing was stunned. He didn’t expect her to agree with him so clearly and straightforwardly.

Was he going to be the big stick that separated the lovebirds2? It didn’t seem so. Would he give them his blessing? That was even less likely.

So what was he supposed to do here?

Jiang Xing was confused.

He decided to go to Jiang Xiumei to discuss this, and he got up and left.

Right now, Jiang Xiumei was talking to Tao Tao, telling her what she should pay attention to tomorrow.

When Jiang Xing came in, the conversation between the two stopped abruptly and they looked at him.

“Mom, I... I have something to discuss with you.”

Jiang Xiumei looked at him, “What’s the matter? Just now I asked you to give Xiaoman the dress to wear tomorrow, did you deliver it?”

Jiang Xing only remembered this matter now. He was so shocked earlier that he forgot about it.

He also didn’t care about it anymore and said, “It’s okay, that is not important, what I’m about to tell you is a bit serious.”

“What’s so serious?”

“She, she...” Jiang Xing struggled for a while, then said mysteriously, “We... we can’t hold on to your granddaughter anymore...”

“??”

Jiang Xiumei was stunned for a moment, thinking she heard it wrong. She thought for a while and then said, “We can’t hold on to my granddaughter anymore? Is Tao Tao’s belly already filled? Is it a girl? And we can’t even hold on to her anymore? Jiang Xing, you have sinned!”

Tao Tao: “...” She wasn’t pregnant!

She also didn’t know what happened.

Jiang Xing said anxiously, “It’s your granddaughter3! She’s in love!”

Jiang Xiumei was taken aback, and so was Tao Tao.

This really was a big deal.

Footnote:

1. This is a different term for uncle, and also one that is more usually used to address a friend’s father, for example. Yu Qingshi was calling him using the same ‘uncle’ that Xiaoman uses.

2. The original term used is mandarin ducks, who are known to always be in a pair.

3. The term here refers to an ‘outer’ granddaughter (daughter from her daughter) which narrows it down to Xiaoman. Daughter from her son would be an ‘inner’ granddaughter.
