Chapter 8 – Adventurers Put Their Lives on Fire to Make Money
「Uoraaa!!」
My right arm, which hasn’t even grown scales yet, is holding the end of my spear. I pierced the neck of the raging bird dragon with it.
This big bird didn’t care about its neck being severely wounded by repeated attacks. It still attacks using its big body that I could only look up at nimbly.
「Leave it to me!!」
That Mince girl behind me took my place at the front line and using her shield, slammed into the raging bird dragon.
Clang!! And the sound of hitting metal echoed but Mince didn’t care.
Her left arm, which the shield was attached to, has been crushed to the bone after a repeated collision but this scalekin didn’t even flinch.
They are seriously dangerous if they are enemies but they are dependable allies.
The screech of the raging bird dragon that had echoed across the battlefield since earlier is gone. It is replaced by the eerie sound of blood spurting out from the base of its neck while it is clattering on the ground.
According to the young master and Oberon, these things are like this.
They will continue to rampage until the last drop of their blood.
「Let’s go!」
I heard the voice of Pickles, a horsekin. She threw a spear and it flew with a sound that sucked the air. It pierced through the spine of the big bird and penetrated to the ground.
「Pyuuuuuuuuuuuu!!」
A high-pitched voice echoed from the sky as the raging bird dragon came to a complete stop.
As if a pitch-black wind had blown down from the sky, a white javelin pierced the chest of the raging bird dragon.
A large amount of blood poured noisily from the hollowed end of the spear and the raging bird dragon, which we had been chasing since morning, returned its life to the star while being illuminated by sunset.
In the sky, the mute birdkin Vongo sang an out-of-tune song of victory.
「I guess it’s still a little early for you to take on raging bird dragon.」
「It was a nomination request which is great but it is obvious that you’ll be more stable in subjugating floating boars.」
While we were being treated with our minor wounds, aside from Mince’s crushed arm, young master Sawadi and Oberon were reviewing what happened today.
Mages are bad news.
I experienced fighting against a mage who was fired from the Magic Academy and my former mercenary group was destroyed. Half of us turned to ice in an instant.
I bit off his throat while half-frozen but thanks to that, my former friends sold me off instead of giving me retirement benefits.
After all, mages are d.i.f.f.e.r.e.n.t.
They are not afraid of doing things someone would normally hesitate to do, things that you won’t do because you’ll be condemned by others or even by god. However, they’ll do it with glee.
Young master Sawadi is not normal either. He should have sold us slaves after treating us but he trained us and had us to fight….
He’s definitely going to do something. Even though he is young, he’s already building his own army.
And we can’t do anything about it aside from making sure he’ll always be in a good mood.
「…….pra………ise………?」
「Hnn? Praise? Ah, I heard you’re the one who did the killing blow. You want me to praise you for it?」
「…..do…..not…..?」
「Of course, I would. Well done. Here’s some candy.」
Ahh, ahh, she was petted with such innocence and even got a candy cane.
I’m a full pledge hunter but mentally, I’m a bit childish too.
That’s candy so I want some too.
Hey, young master!
I did my best too!
