NEXT CHAPTER COMING SOON...

「His excellency the marshal has no ill will.」

I was greeted by Professor Marino and Dean Estoma at the table when we were making our rounds.

That’s true. If he was malicious, there’s no way he’ll do that.

After awarding the medals to me, the general left immediately. Even so, the audience is still talking about what had just happened.

「The marshal’s family, that is something a commoner mage will never meet.」

Dean Estoma laughed as he said that.

“I don’t know, there is this pet there so why don’t you go there a little bit for me?” Is probably what happened.

「Rest assured. You have already been approved to be an assistant professor. And like what I’ve always been telling you, I won’t let you go to the royal capital.」

「Well, in the royal capital, a medal or two won’t be enough to keep bugs away.」

I was relieved to hear that I would be staying in Torquiva.

I guess the military doesn’t see any reason to pull me to the royal capital.

There is no room for a country bumpkin in the city where monsters are fighting for their careers.

It is obvious that a chicken that lays golden eggs will be ripped apart by wolves.

Commoners are lucky to be so carefree.

If I could, I would prefer staying as one but I can’t.

The medals on my chest were heavy.

「To the doctor!」

「”Charitable” Sawadi.」

「Doctor, please」

At the table where the veterans whose magic organs I cured were sitting, cups were raised with smiling faces.

Everyone seemed to be having a good time while getting drunk.

「Doctor, why didn’t you get a medal for regenerating magic organs?」

「Ah~, that’s still a top secret.」

「Such a shame. You would have been awarded with Gold Wing Cross for humanitarian aid.」

「I had enough desu yo」

While we were talking like this, Laura-san, who had been quietly following behind me for some time, opened her mouth.

「Please keep your mouth shut about it from now on or my husband will have to treat those waterfowls as well.」

「Come to think of it, you’re right.」

「Ah, what a shame.」

「As a former officer in the army, I’m against curing the navy.」

And where does this deep-rooted conflict between sea and land originate?

Perhaps it’s something normal in any part of the world but if an air force is established in the future, will there be another one?

「Doctor, this sake is quite delicious. My wife, who hates alcohol, is unusually praising it.」

The soldier with blond hair brushed back and a somewhat stylish look said so. His wife beside him bowed her head.

I don’t remember either of their names but I do remember the two of them holding hands and crying together when I treated him.

They made me vaguely think “I want to be like them”.

「Ah, thank you very much. That’s a sake I personally brewed desu yo.」

「Ah, so doctor’s personal work….I see. So that’s why it was called “Laura Rola”.」

The cool military man raises his glass to Laura-san.

Laura-san replied with a wry smile and turned away shyly to light up a cigarette.

Then, she pulled the back of my suit and took me to another table.

She’s surprisingly shy, isn’t she?

「Ara, if it isn’t Laura Rola. How are you feeling?」

The person who spoke to us with sake on her hand was a dark-haired woman with as many medals hanging from her modest chest as Laura-san.

Her eyes were sharp like those birds of prey and her pin-heeled boots glittered in the sunlight.

Laura happily raised one of her hands to the woman, smoked her cigarette, and handed the leftover butt to a passing waiter.

「It’s inconvenient, isn’t it? You can no longer use magic to light a cigarette. Don’t worry, I can at least light your cigarette for you today.」

「Eiha, how are you?」

「As usual. As for you, you look as smug as ever.」

She seemed to be looking down on Laura-san while feeling sorry for her.

However, when she saw Laura-san light her cigarette with magic, she was shocked.

「Your….magic organ….」

「Well」

Laura-san glanced at me while having an unusually good-mood expression.
