To be honest, it’s kind of a celebration because I’m happy but I don’t want Jiren, who will be a manager starting today, to be too stingy.
We at least have enough money to pay our employees in our organization.

The Schenker group is relieved to have the musicians and Pickles’ group back from their business trips, but I still have a lot of things to settle.
My wife, Laura-san, is in her last month of pregnancy but we still don’t have godparents, who should have been decided by now.
For nobles, godparents mean a parent other than your parents.
As we could not rely on Laura-san’s parents, the only person we could rely on was my father.
Of course, we had asked him many times, but he had been dodging here and there, giving us some nonsense reasons.
However, there are only a few weeks left before the baby’s birth.
I finally hit my father this night at his house.
「Dad! Name my child!」
He was alone in his office, sitting at his desk, writing, when he glanced at me and took off his glasses with a sigh.
This room, which had felt so spacious when I was a child, now felt so small for a head of a big commercial company.
In front of the desk at the far end of the room, against the window, there was a business meeting space between a filing cabinet and a shelf with a few drinks and glasses which was illuminated by a lighting device.
「You’re too noisy, sit down.」
Father slowly stood up from his desk and took out a bottle of liquor and glass from the shelf.
「No, I won’t sit down, just say yes! Why are you so reluctant? What’s wrong with you!」
「………maa, sit down.」
Father, who looked unusually gloomy and downcast, urged me again, and I grudgingly sat down on the sofa, facing him across the low table.
「My youngest will finally become a parent. You’ll be facing problems as a father soon.」
My father said that sincerely as he slowly poured wine into the two lined up glasses. He then looked me in the eye and apologized as he offered it to me by sliding it across the table.
「I know you were angry with me for being reluctant to name your child. It’s was all for a reason, forgive me.」
「What reason?」
「Let me tell you something first.」
「I did not avoid giving your child a name because I’m scared of your wife, Laura-dono, or her unborn child.」
「……」
「I, Brett, president of the Schenker Company, though thin and withered, is the second in command of the Merchants Guild. My wife is a mage too and there’s no way I’ll be scared of my grandchildren until the day I die. 」
「Yeah?」
「IListen to what I’m about to tell you. I’ve originally planned to take this with me to the grave. Listen to me with that in mind. I’m telling you this because I think you might be in trouble if you don’t know what I’m about to tell you since you’re already a noble.」
「……what is it?」
He moistened his mouth with a sip of wine and began to speak softly.
「Our Schenker family ancestor, my great-grandfather, was a great brave and a rebel.」
「Rebel?」
My father nodded deeply and profoundly and traced a triangle on the desk with his finger.
「He took control of the granaries, including Torquiva, threatened the army with wheat, stole mountains of gold coins, and kidnapped the princess of a great noble who had come to defeat him and had her give birth to his children.」
「That’s so mess up.」
「Yes, he is a mess. His power was extraordinary and I heard that he had enough psychic power to twist the flow of the great river.」
「I see.」
「And that man was called……”Blackbeard” Schenker」
「Blackbeard」
I don’t really get this story.
Even if you say that our ancestor is reckless, I can’t imagine the present army leaving him like that if that were to happen today.
Also, unlike mages, who have to study, a psychic’s power is limited to one generation.
I was able to become a mage with my talent alone and even became a noble in recognition of my achievements.
My ancestor’s matter is none of my business.
