Chapter 9: Divine Gift.
Chapter 9. Divine Gift.
The rain had stopped.
Hundreds of people from the Fox Race came to the edge of the wilderness and began to cultivate the land.
“The land here is so fertile!” a Fox man said in glee.
After being burned to ashes by Lin Yan, the vast wilderness revealed a terrifyingly fertile land. Under the wilderness, there was a thick layer of black soil. The vegetation above was completely burnt into ash. After the heavy rain, the ash merged with the soil, making the wasteland more fertile.
The Chief of the Fox Race stood at the edge of the wilderness, looking at the boundless wilderness. This wasteland, which was once filled with poisonous insects, was indeed a place bestowed by the gods. This was on the edge of the Orcish Kingdom. No Orc tribe was willing to come to this barren land. However, it was unexpected that the fire of the Lord of the Flames would turn the barren land into a thousand-mile fertile land! It was indeed something that only Gods could do!
“There is too much extra land here. We can’t use this much. Guard, come here,” the chief of the Fox race said.
Two Fox men came closer. The chief of the Fox race said to one of the Foxes, “Go and inform our people that are scattered in the other tribes and let them all come here.”
“Yes, Matriarch.” That Fox man hurriedly left.
The chief took out a letter and handed it to another clan member. “Quietly sneak back to the main clan and hand this letter to the Clan Head of the Grey Fox Clan. Remember, don’t be discovered.”
“Yes!” That Fox man took the letter and left.
“Mother, are you planning to persuade the Grey Fox Clan to move over as well?” the veiled Fox girl, Qing Ling, walked up and said softly. She was holding a basket in her hand.
“That’s right. The Fox Clan’s living conditions are too bad. The territory is very small. Most of the land is still occupied by the Black Fox Clan, leaving the other clans with remote and barren lands. The Black Fox Clan forces all the Fox clan to believe in a dark evil God. The Grey Fox Clan is not much better than us.” When she said this, she paused for a moment and said, “All Gods wish for more believers. If we can find more believers for the Great Lord of Flames, we can also receive more patronage!”
The Fox girl Qing Ling nodded. Then, she took a step and walked towards a piece of land that had been enclosed.
“Holy Maiden, have you found the Divine Gift?” The Chief asked.
Qing Ling said softly, “Yes, mother, this is a God-given seed bestowed upon us by Our God. All of our clansmen no longer need to starve in the future.”
As she spoke, she had already arrived on the ground that had been torn apart. She took out an oval-shaped fruit from the basket, cut it in half with a knife, and then buried the two halves of the fruit into the ground.
The chief looked curiously at Qing Ling. They did not know what she was doing. Even though the Continent of the Gods was vast and had many people and gods, its technology was undeveloped. This was bound to happen. Once magic was developed, technology would not be able to keep up with it. Moreover, no matter whether it was humans or Gods, they had no intention of developing technology.
For those with great power, becoming a God was the most important thing. To the gods, expanding their followers, strengthening their divine power, and making their Divine Kingdom’s even more stable were the most important things. As a result, there were not many types of food on the Continent of the Gods. They were still mainly rice and wheat.
Thanks to the care of the Gods, many of the countries were in fine weather, and they were suitable for growing food all year round. In addition, the church would occasionally send special mages to use magic to water large areas of the crops that grew, and even use magic to speed up the growth of crops.
As a result, the food output of the Continent of the Gods was extremely high. The Gods in the sky knew that the number of believers was the key to their strength, and believers came from more people. Then, they needed to ensure the supply of food. Without enough food, there was no way to increase the population. However, as the population of each country increased, food was still in short supply. The Humans’ condition was still better.
But Like the Orcs who are living on the edge of the continent, many Orc tribes often sleep hungry. As for Qing Ling, she had received a revelation from the “The Lord of Flames.” She personally went to the forest and searched for a long time before finally finding the “God-given item”, which were actually a few potatoes!
