"Who said you were going there?'' Leo Martins asked with a smirk. ''You didn't think this was going to be so easy. Did you?''
''Tsk. Where will I go to apart from that place?'' Mandy Myers asked.
''The military prisons. That's where you are going to. Looks like you didn't know about that? You see, Aaron's grandfather asked for a little favour from my grandfather and it was decided that a scheming and calculating person like you shouldn't be allowed to be in the midst of other people. Isolation from society completely is what you deserve''. Leo Martins added.
''Do you even have any idea what you are doing? For Liyah, you are willing to risk it all? Does she even deserve it? After killing her own parents and causing August Maijune to be permitted sick in the head. Does she deserve what you are giving her?'' Mandy Myers asked.
Meanwhile Mai was doing her best to free herself. She saw a kitchen knife lying among some papers at the corner and forcefully pulled herself with the chair up. She was still bent because of the robes that bonded her to the chair. Mai looked around cautiously before braving herself. She closed her eyes and pulled all the energy and force within her and threw herself at the wall. The chair broke into pieces and blood oozed out of her head and other parts of her body from the hit. She breathed not giving in to the pain and crawled to a bunch of papers lying at the corner. There was a knife hidden there that she had seen earlier on.
With the knife Mai was able to cut into the robes freeing herself while sustaining some cuts. The cuts on her body gave her a comforting release as she felt the effects of the drug wearing out. She stood up and walked to the door and noticed it was locked from the outside. The design of the door was such that if one didn't watch carefully, you would not know it was even there. Mai exhaled and looked around the room for something, anything she could find useful. She was unaware of the things that were going on outside
Mai looked at the construction of the room and a thought clicked her mind. She gave a sly smile and started knocking on the walls around the room. She kept knocking till she hit a wooden like door covered by the room's wallpaper and murmured ''found you at last''. Mai smiled and went for the knife. She torn the wallpaper apart and saw a plywood door that was locked from the other side. Mai weakly started making holes into the door.
''What load of nonsense are you talking about?'' Leo Martins asked with a clutched fist and a cold gaze.
''Whether what I'm saying is nonsense or not. Only your wife could testify to that. Why don't you bring her here and ask her yourself? Well, she might not even remember anything anymore since is much easier to forget than to remember''. Mandy Myers said slyly.
''Leo, is better you leave here right now. Don't listen to anything she says. She is just spilling a bunch of nonsense to get on your nerves''. Aaron Saint said and pulled Leo Martins towards the door.
''Actually, I can tell you everything you want to hear but that will have to come with a condition. You see, keeping the truth and knowing that I am the only one who knows it is quite excruciating. Is not like I wanted to know the truth. I just somehow stumbled upon it. That which should be said but cannot be said at the same time.
Liyah's father was my beloved son after all. Liyah was their only child and the only one who survived in that accident. Ooh, how I wished she was the one who died instead. But, I couldn't kill her. Not because I couldn't, but because I wanted the one who really deserved to be avenged to do the killing''.
Aaron Saint and Leo Martins stopped at the door and looked at her as she spoke. Mandy Myers smiled to herself all the while as she spoke. She talked in third person singular and acted calmly while watching them as if watching a show.
''Should I tell you a story? About the women you two married? Tsk. Talk about fateful meetings and ill-fated relationships. Those two are a perfect embodiment of the saying ''enemies dining at the table and laughing like family'. I never thought fate could be so thrilling.
15 years ago, Liyah's parents and August Maijune's parents were the best of friends. Doing everything together.
August Maijune's father was researching a new drug back then. It was to cure children with early symptoms of mental instability. People call them autists these days. Yes, Liyah was diagnosed with autism at the age of 5. Her mother pleaded with Anthony Elizondo to research and come out with a treatment for her daughter and Anthony agreed.
He did the research and it was almost at the last stage of its completion when August Maijune was born and Lorca started to plot against his sister in taking over the wolf clan of the underworld''.
Aaron and Leo went back to their seats listening to her.
''Then the war broke between the wolf clan and the tiger clan of the underworld. Everything was so chaotic at that time. The two kids were brought to me to look after while their parents went on to fight. I only agreed to take care of those two pests because of my son. He was precious to me. After the fight, they won and returned. Anthony promised to go back to the laboratory and concentrate on developing the medicine for Liyah but somewhere along the line, the government placed an embargo on the development of new medicines across the city.
Whoa. It was such a sight to behold. Do you know the reason why a lot of people hate the word 'almost' Ahaha? Almost, something that is closer to you yet far away. While they were all in pitiful demeanour I decided to rid them off their pain by getting rid of Liyah''
''What?'' said Aaron Saint.
''You tried to kill a 5-year-old girl?'' said Leo Martins.
Just then a part of the room cracked open and Mai crawled out. She looked up and saw the people in the room and they also saw her. Mai's gaze lingered on the scene in front of her with her body dripping of blood from the numerous cuts.
''Mai'' Aaron Saint stood up first and rushed to her. He helped Mai to stand up and they saw her body covered in blood and the cuts.
''How did you get here?'' Mandy Myers said shockingly. She couldn't believe her eyes even after seeing Mai coming out through the wall.
Mai shook Aaron Saint off and rushed towards Mandy Myers. Mai held her neck and glared at her coldly while saying ''I told you, didn't I? You should have killed me when you had the chance, you, old weasel''. Mai said and pushed the chair away making Mandy Myers' body to hit against the wall while still tied up.
Aaron Saint and Leo Martins held Mai against her will.
''That's enough Mai, you are hurt. Let me take you to the hospital first''. Aaron Saint said.
''Leo, don't you dare believe anything this old hag is saying. Big sis never had autism and the government never put up any embargo on scientific research. They are all lies. Nothing but lies''. Mai said and looked at Mandy Myers who was lying uncomfortably on the floor. The chair fell in a wrong position making her lay on the floor in an awkward posture.
''You were just a baby back then. What do you know?'' Mandy Myers said.
''Leo, don't stay and chat with her. Let them take her away at once. I'm taking Mai away for treatment''. Aaron Saint said and lifted Mai bridal style and walked out of the room. Leo looked down at Mandy Myers with a smirk and said.
''Have a nice time in isolation''.
''Let me go. I tell you, you won't get away from doing this to me. don't think I can't do anything to you inside prison. Even when I'm locked up, I will still make sure Liyah, you and the whole Saint family suffer a painful death''. Mandy Myers shouted as the soldiers took her away.

Dr. Kash finished administering some injection on Mai and stood up from the chair and turned to Aaron Saint and Liyah Myers.
''You really need to tighten the security around here, Aaron. How many times has it been in this month alone? I as her doctor am not happy about her condition. Just how are you looking after her? Is bad for her health if she keeps getting hurt and taking in a lot of medicine into her body''.
Dr. Kash said angrily. He was worried for the health and mental state of August Maijune.
''I understand. I have been irresponsible towards her. I promise something like this will not happen again. Thank you for coming this late''. Aaron Saint said.
''Kash, I understand that you are speaking as her doctor but, you shouldn't blame Aaron. Nobody wanted this to happen to Mai. If there is anyone to blame, then that should be me. Because of me, Mai was kidnapped. Aaron is doing his best here''. Liyah said.
''I know. But I couldn't help it because I am her doctor. I know Aaron cares for Mai so much. Anyways, she is asleep, she needs a lot of rest. Thankfully her injuries aren't so deep so they will heal in no time. Keep your eyes on her, please''. Kash said as they walked out of the room.
''I will''. Aaron Saint said.
