Chapter 196: A born Genius Jade Saint 2

''Alex, you haven't met Jade before right? This troublesome girl here is my daughter. She studied Marketing Dynamics and interior décor at the University. She just came back after finishing her last semester'' August Maijune did the introduction.

''Mom, Alex and I know each other already. Right, Alex?'' Jade said meaningfully, teasing him.

''Huh?'' Alex smiled awkwardly.

''You two knew each other already? Where did you meet?'' August Maijune asked curiously.

''We met at the…''

''Elevator, Professor. I met Miss at the elevator'' Alex interrupted Jade fast and the latter smirked.

''I see. well, I was just asking for Jade's opinion on the perfumes you made''

'Miss, can you explain further about your thoughts on my perfumes?'' Alex asked and sat on the chair across them. He was intrigued by Jade's explanation. At first, he thought she was an empty head giving how she dressed. Her statement just now made him change his mind.

''About the first one, I think it is good because it has the fresh and unique smell accustomed to babies which a lot of mothers would opt for, for their babies, but given that it is too strong for babies and might cause allergic infections, I would suggest that instead of making it into perfumes, you should turn it into air refreshers and tone down the level of its activeness, that way it will not have any great effect on babies when placed in the rooms.

As for the second one, I realised that the fragrance of the artificial pineapple extracts was a little too much which might attract insects to the person wearing it. perfume is supposed to me you feel good and not to make you attract insects, right? So, how about replacing the extracts with freshly obtained pineapples and then work on it a little to make its smell subtle and yet captivating. It will do well especially among lovers who want to spend their first time together''

Alex looked at her with new found admiration the more he listened to her. She sounded so professional and eloquent. He was beginning to get curious about her. she was different from her outer appearance.

''I hope I wasn't too blunt? I tend to get a little over the top when it comes to business. That being said, mom, how much are you two paying me for the consultation? You know me, I don't do things for free'' 

''Alex, what do you say?'' August Maijune asked bringing Alex back to his senses.

''Miss, would you like to work with me to develop both the perfume and air refreshers? I will need your opinion every step of the way'' Alex said to Jade and she looked at him surprised. She thought he wouldn't want to have anything doing with her after what she did to him at the elevator. It seems he was gentleman who knew how to separate business and personal affairs well.

''Sure, but, I must let you know I am not a worker here. So, you will have to pay my handsomely. My fees are very expensive too.

''Why don't you join the marketing team here?'' Alex asked.

''No. This place belongs to my mother. Do you know what I hate the most in the world? Been called someone that was parachuted into a position. My mom already knows I don't intend to work for her or anybody. I am my own person, a freelancer. I can work for you based on a contract basis. When is done, you pay me and I go my way''

''If you agree to work with Alex, I will make sure you get the best remuneration based on your competence'' August Maijune told Jade.

''Mom, I love you because you separate business from family. Fine, since I am still resting before I open my own consulting firm, I will take this one. I can make good use of the money I will make since I love dressing up and shopping. Draw the contract and give me a call when it's ready. I will come and meet up for the signing, but let me say this. I don't intend to work all day throughout the week. I will only come on Mondays and Fridays. The rest of the days is for myself'' Jade stated her conditions.

''Don't worry, I will make sure your conditions are met, Miss'' Alex said to her.

''Call me Jade. I hate to be called Miss'' Jade said to him.

''Okay, Jade''

''Good. Mom, I still have somewhere to go so I will leave now'' Jade said, standing up.

''Where are you going?'' August Maijune asked her daughter.

''The base, to visit Amber''

''More like to ogle at those new recruits. Just be careful on the road''

''Yes, sweet mom. Bye, Alex'' Jade said and walked out. She closed the door behind her.

''She really is my daughter. Alex, I didn't think you would accept for Jade to join you?'' August Maijune said.

''She is smart and intelligent'' Alex said as he took the two bottles of perfume.

''I specially invited her today so that you would meet her. Jade has a talent for identifying smells since childhood. She got it from me. Growing up, I didn't have a lot of choices so when I gave birth, my husband and I decided that we wouldn't force our kids to do what we were doing. They were allowed to make their own decisions and pick their own University courses with us getting involved. I knew she would be indispensable to you especially now that you are about to come out with you own brand of perfumery but I didn't want to force the decision on you. I knew you would want to work with her once you met her. That's why I asked her to come today and I can say that I have made success. Jade can be a little impulsive, so I hope that you don't get annoyed by her''

''Professor Mai, don't worry. I am a patient person, and since I have decided to work with the little Miss, I will make sure we have a good working relationship''

''Right, how is your girlfriend?''

''She is doing well. She is going on a business trip with her boss today. They will be back by next week''

''That's fine. Go ahead and do your own thing. I still have a few calls to make''

''Sure, see you later, Professor Mai'' Alex said and went out.

Saint Hotel.

Ever finished icing the cupcakes and pushed them further the table far from her. She removed the disposable gloves from her hands and leaned against the table hitting her hurting shoulders. Her assistant walked into the pantry with a silver tray.

''Miss Ever, can I take the pancakes away now?'' she asked Ever.

''Sure, I am done with them'' Ever told her.

''You must be tired. You have been making pastries all day without resting because of the engagement party. They will finish very soon and leave. Miss Ever have you eaten yet?'' her assistant asked worriedly.

''Not yet. I will just make something light from the kitchen and eat later. Hurry, Emma, send the cupcakes to them'' Ever said to the girl whose name was Emma.

''Sure, wait for me, I will come back and give you a massage later on'' Emma said and started putting the 200 pieces of cupcakes on to the silver tray. Ever went forward to help her.

Outside, Jayden arrived with his assistant, a lady in front of the hotel. They got down and went inside. The assistant manager ran forward towards them.

''Young Master, you are welcome'' the assistant manager said to Jayden.

''Is there a party in the hotel?'' Jayden asked as he saw people going in and out of the conference hall at the left side of the hotel's reception.

''Yes, Young Master. The daughter of the Minister of Culture is having her engagement at our hotel'' the manager explained.

''If it's the Minister, shouldn't you go and say hello?'' the beautiful woman beside Jayden asked in a soft and unhurried tone.

''En, let's go'' Jayden nodded his head. They went towards the direction of the party and he saw a figure tapping her shoulders as she walked out of the F and B section of the hotel. He paused and looked at her as she walked towards the elevator.

''Jayden, what are you looking at?'' Ann asked.

''Nothing, let's go. Wait, call all the workers. I want to meet them today before they leave. Everyone, including the kitchen staff'' Jayden said putting emphasis on the last part.

''Yes, Young Master'' the assistant manager said and removed his phone to make the call.

Ever walked out of her office in the third floor after changing out of her uniform and Emma rushed out of the elevator meeting her as she closed her office door.

''Miss Ever, the new Manager of the hotel just arrived and has requested for the presence of every worker in the hotel''

''What? Shouldn't he be meeting the heads of departments first?'' Ever said and frowned.

''I know, right. everyone is crazy, prepping up to meet him. He even brought a woman along. She is so beautiful. I heard she is his assistant but I doubt. I think they might be having a secret relationship''

''Emma, that's enough. You can go ahead, I will join you soon'' Ever said to her and turned back into her office. She closed the door and leaned against it, feeling her own disarrayed heartbeat.
