''He is a serious person at work and is quite good at what he does. He is narcissistic but not to the extent of been unlikable. I admit, his views on work related issues are remarkable but, I hate the fact that he thinks he is the only one who is always right. He tends to downplay the efforts of others and wants to be obeyed at all cost. When it comes to work, his professionalism is remarkable. As for been his friend, I don't know much about how is he when he isn't at work but he seems to be someone who values friendship a lot and I think he and I share that quality together. We both cherish our friends a lot''
''Are you sincere about your words?'' Robyn asked after Brenda finished speaking.
''Yes, I am sincere'' Brenda barely finished her sentenced when Robyn pulled her into a tight hug making everyone gasp.
''How can I not like you when you are so accurate about me. Thank you for pointing out my weakness in such a cute way''
''You… are not angry?'' Brenda blushed under his embrace and asked.
''No, I am not'' he said and finally let go.
''Whoa, that was so unexpected'' Jenny said.
''Right'' Kristine seconded.
''I am next, right?'' Brenda cleared her throat. She took the bottle and swung it and it fell towards Kody.
''I'm next on the hot seat'' Kody chuckled.
''Kody, this time that you came back, what are your plans? Do you have a girlfriend or someone that you like?''
''I don't have a girlfriend but I do have someone that I like'' he looked at Jenny and everyone squirmed at them.
''Why are you looking at me?'' Jenny's face reddened as she asked him.
''It's my turn, right?'' Kody took the bottle and swung it and it feel towards Kristine.
''It's your turn, Kris'' Ronald said and smiled.
''So, tell us, Kris. When did you think was the moment that you fell for Ronald?'' Kody asked and everyone looked at her curiously.
She looked at Ronald and said, ''well, I don't really know but I guess it was after he kissed me and told me he didn't care whether I had a scar on my body or not? My scar has always been something I felt ashamed off but he told me he didn't care about it. I think that was the moment I fell for him'' Kristine leaned against Ronald who wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
''This cheesiness is making me swoon'' Jenny said and they laughed.
''Okay, let's see who is going to be at my mercy'' Kristine sat up straight and swung the bottle and watched it with anticipation. She gave a victory fist in the air when the bottle settled in front of Robyn. Everyone looked at Robyn who seemed flustered as he stared at the bottle. ''So, Robyn, do you like our Brenda or not?''
''Wow, so straightforward'' Collins admired Kristine's guts.
''Hey, Kris, stop messing around''
''What, I'm sure I am not the only one who is curious, right?''
''You are absolutely right'' Chloe gave Kris a thumps up.
''So, tell us Robyn. Do you like Brenda or not, I mean romantically''
Robyn stared at the anticipatory gazes of everyone and suddenly picked the glass of beer saying, ''no comment''
''Ayeee, that's so lame'' Ronald commented.
''It's my turn again'' Robyn said and took the bottle. He looked beside him and noticed Brenda was looking at him. He turned and smiled at her before swinging the bottle and it fell towards Jenny.
''Oh, it's finally Jenny's turn. I was wondering when she was going to be asked a question'' Chloe sounded excited.
''So, Jenny, I heard you and Kody have been friends for almost your whole life. Was there ever a time that you felt something which was more than a friendly feeling towards him?''
''No, I've always seen Kody as a friend and also he is younger than me. I don't like younger men'' Jenny said as a matter of fact.
When she said that, the hall turned silent because everyone could see the dampened look on Kody's face. His face stiffened as he stared at Jenny.
Brenda turned to look at Robyn and shook her head. She took the bottle away saying, ''that's enough. Let's stop the game''
''Are you serious about what you said?'' Kody suddenly asked and everyone looked at him. Jenny turned to face him with a straight face.
''Yes, I am serious''
''Then, let's see if you still feel that same way about me after this'' Kody pulled her body on to his laps and kissed her.
Everyone gasped as they stared at them. Ronald was the first to hold Kristine's hand and they stood up and everyone followed suit. Things just got out of hand and the shocking part was, Kody and Jenny began kissing without a care in the world.
After a while, Kody let go and they both panted for breath. They looked at each other and Jenny flushed and stood up, ''you…''
''Do you still feel nothing for me?'' Kody asked and stood up.
''What do you want to prove? This was nothing more than a kiss. This isn't the first time we've kissed. We also kissed on the day you left D-City''
''Just another kiss? This was just another kiss to you?'' Kody looked at her face.
''Yes, it is just another kiss'' Jenny took her bag and left the villa and Kody ran after her.
Holding her hand to stop her from walking away, Kody looked at Jenny's face and noticed she was crying.
''Jenny''
''Why do you have to shake me up this way?''
''Does it make you uncomfortable that I have feelings for you?'' he asked her.
''Yes, it is hard, so leave me alone. I want to be alone, Kody. Please, let me go'' Jenny said and ran out of the estates.
Back inside, the others came out from their hideout.
''Did I make a mistake? I thought she had feelings for him'' Robyn said feeling bad.
''Even if she did, you don't expect them to suddenly accept each other? They've been friends since childhood and he is younger than her. Do you think Jenny will accept her own feelings that easily?'' Brenda explained.
''That's right. Actually, all these years as knew she had a special feeling for Kody but she was always firm about remaining friends forever'' Chloe added.
''Shouldn't we go after them?'' Kristine suggested.
''No, if you go after them right now, they will never be able to come to terms with their circumstances. Leave them to settle it themselves'' Collins told them.
''This is like a party gone wrong'' Chloe sighed.
''It's getting late; we should go home'' Brenda looked at her wrist watch.
''I will send you back since it's on the way'' Ronald said and held Kristine's hand.
…..
When the three ladies arrived they saw Jenny seated in the hall. She hadn't turned on the light and it was dark.
''Jenny… what are you doing in the dark?'' Kristine went closer and Jenny hugged her sobbing.
''What do I do, Kris? I can't let him know I have feelings for him. The warning his mother gave me that year is still clear as day. I thought that I could still remain as friends but I don't think I can do that anymore. If his family finds out that I never broke contact with him, they would harass my mother and call her all sort of names''
''Silly girl'' Kristine hugged Jenny back as the others sat beside them.
''I knew this was bound to happen as soon as I saw Kody had returned'' Brenda sighed. That family only knew how to hurt people. The only person who was still a good person was probably Kody. She had gone through hell in the hands of the first son of that family and almost died. She was lucky she had her three friends to depend on when that happened.
''That family should just disappear for good'' Chloe cussed. They all knew the likes of the people from that family.
''It's alright, you will be fine'' Chloe patted her shoulder.
Jenny was the only child of her mother who was also single. She never grew up with a father so a lot of people looked down on her. In their neighbourhood, back then, only Kody dared to play with her but everything changed when Kody's mother found out that she was friends with her son. She did everything she could to stop them from seeing each other and even started harassing her mother. Even though they had relocated that time, she and Kody were still in the same school but he was her junior. He still kept being her friend until he left the country. That year that he left, Kody's mother went to find Jenny to tell her to cut off all ties with her son and she did. But, Kody still found her address and started sending her letters until she agreed to give him her contact number.
It has been a long time since then, but the embarrassment her mother went through because of Kody's mother scarred her and she didn't want to have anything besides friendship with him, but it seemed even that was not possible anymore.
