Chapter 24 - Give That Person Another Chance

The next day, Li Qin Yao went out to meet her former assistant, Bei Ruo Xi. The two made an appointment to meet at The Orchid, a five stars hotel located in the city center. When Li Qin Yao arrived, a staff immediately ushered her into the coffee house where her former assistant was waiting for her.

Li Qin Yao stood next to the table and smiled. "Bei Ruo Xi, it has been a long time."

The girl with short hair immediately stood up with her eyes wide as she saw Li Qin Yao. "Young Miss, you're here."

"Stop calling me Young Miss. You no longer work for me," Li Qin Yao said as she sat down.

"Don't say that. I'm glad to work for you, Young Miss," Bei Ruo Xi bit on her lips when Li Qin Yao gave her a look. "M-Miss Li?"

Li Qin Yao chuckled and decided not to pay attention to this matter. A waiter came to their table to pour them a glass of water and handed them their menu. Li Qin Yao ordered some cakes and coffee before they watched the waiter left.

"Are you well?" Li Qin Yao asked.

Bei Ruo Xi nodded. She smiled, and her canine teeth shown. "I'm good. But working under Manager Zhou Wei is really tough. I don't think she liked me very much."

"You used to work for me. It would be strange if she likes you," Li Qin Yao pointed out. "Everyone knew that my Aunt, Zhao Wei, does not like me. After all, she wanted to push his son, Li Mu Bai to the position as the next heir of LQ Group."

The two paused their conversation as the waiter came back with their order of cakes and coffee.

Li Qin Yao picked up a cake fork and sliced through the cheesecake. It was soft and fluffy. The cake entered her mouth and immediately melted. Li Qin Yao sighed as the sweet, and rich flavor spread into her mouth.

The slight tangy taste of citrus gave the cheesecake a bit of a punch. The hazelnut crumble on the side gave a bit of texture, and the raspberry coulis complimented everything.

It was not a wrong decision to visit The Orchid to taste their cheesecake. A lot of food reviewers on the internet had praised the dessert from the hotel. Although it was a bit pricey, it was worth it.

Li Qin Yao raised her head when she thought that she had heard a familiar voice. However, when she looked around, Li Qin Yao did not see anyone else besides the hotel staff. Because the lunch hour ended not long ago, the coffee house was empty.

When Li Qin Yao turned to Bei Ruo Xi, she saw her former assistant snapped a few pictures of the cake. For a second, Li Qin Yao regretted that she did not take a picture of the cake and brag about it to her circle of friends.

The two savor their cake silently before Li Qin Yao spoke, "Bei Ruo Xi, be honest with me. Did you send anything to my grandfather? Why did he suddenly want me to return to LQ Group?"

The girl lowered her gaze. "Yes. I did. I sent some anonymous letter to him a month after you resigned."

Li Qin Yao let out a long sigh.

"Miss Li, I did it for you," Bei Ruo Xi said. "It isn't fair. You have nothing to do with that scandal two years ago, but why do you have resigned from the company? If only you stayed around, you could probe further into this matter and find more evidence to prove your innocence."

"Do you think I quit because I don't have enough evidence?" Li Qin Yao said.

"Miss! So you do know who wanted to frame you?"

"Yes." Li Qin Yao admitted. Although she never saw the manager from their supplier's company again, an investigator hired by her had found another evidence that can prove her innocence.

"I don't understand. If you know who wanted to harm you and you have the evidence, why don't you gave the evidence to the police or Chairman Li?"

"I have my reason," Li Qin Yao stirred her coffee. "Besides, I wanted to give that person another chance."

Bei Ruo Xi stared at her former boss. From her words, she could guess that the person who framed her Miss was no other than someone she knew and close to. But who? It couldn't be, President Li Mu Bai?

"You don't have to do anything," Li Qin Yao said. "It's enough that you keep your eyes on the company and report back to me once in a while."

The two chatted briefly, and Bei Ruo Xi gave Li Qin Yao the latest update on the company. After almost two hours of talking, Li Qin Yao called the waiter to pay her bills.

"Miss, your meals have been paid," the waiter said.

"Ah?" Li Qin Yao blinked. Then she turned to Bei Ruo Xi. "Did you paid for these cakes and coffee?"

"I didn't" Bei Ruo Xi shook her head.

Li Qin Yao looked at the waiter. "Who paid for my bills?"

The waiter smiled. "A handsome man. He said he's a friend of yours. But he did not give his name. He paid an hour ago before he left."

Li Qin Yao pondered over the matter. In the end, she decided to forget about it. They thanked the waiter before they head out.

The waiter let out a sigh of relief when the customer did not press on the matter. Once the guests walked out of the hotel, the waiter walked towards another table where a young man sat down while browsing through a few documents.

"Master Zhang, I did as you told."

Zhang Yu Han nodded without looking up. "Good job. Thank you."

Once the waiter disappeared, Zhang Yu Han lifted his head and smiled.

Zhang Yu Han noticed her presence the first time Li Qin Yao entered the coffee house. Earlier, Zhang Yu Han wanted to go over and greeted her, but decided against it when he saw that Li Qin Yao came to meet a friend.

In the end, he told the waiter to put her bills on his tab.

He did not expect that he would meet her again in this big city. Out of other hotels in this city, the girl he liked chose to dine in his hotel. If this was not fate, then what is it?
