Chapter 45 - I Quit My Job

Li Qin Yao made a plan with her mother to tour around B City at the weekend.

As it has been a while since the mother and daughter hang around, Li Qin Yao's mother, Xu Yilan, immediately agreed. Li Qin Yao was going to visit the site that her grandfather had pointed out with Liang Sheng's guide. Then, she was going to take her mother to shop around and try a few restaurants that Xiao Lian Yi had recommended.

On Sunday morning, Li Qin Yao woke up early and prepared a simple breakfast with toast and omelet for both of them before heading out. Li Qin Yao was cutting her knife on the soft and fluffy egg dish when the doorbell rang. She exchanged a look with her mother before walking over to the door.

"Who is it?" Li Qin Yao asked. He peeked through the peephole and was surprised to see her best friend, Han Yue Xiu, stood at the door. Li Qin Yao swiftly unlocked the door and looked at her friend with surprise. "Yue Xiu?"

"Good morning!" Han Yue Xiu greeted cheerily. She gave Li Qin Yao a look over and smiled. "You look nice. Going somewhere?"

Li Qin Yao invited her friend in before she told her plan to go out with her mother.

"Can I come along?" Han Yue Xiu said. She walked into the dining area and greeted Xu Yilan.

"Have you had your breakfast yet?" Xu Yilan asked. She watched Han Yue Xiu shook her head and invited her to have breakfast with them. Li Qin Yao then went back into the kitchen to make another serving of omelet and coffee.

Han Yue Xiu drank a mouthful of coffee and looked up at her friend's worried gaze. "I quit my job," she announced.

The fork in Li Qin Yao's hand paused mid-air.

"I thought about it for a long time," Han Yue Xiu said. "Although the salary is good, I was unhappy working for a boss like that. I thought that if I continue to work for a demonic boss like that, I might someday go mental. So I quit."

"If you're unhappy, you should quit," Xu Yilan commented. "So what if the salary was high. With your qualifications, you can find a new job. I bet another company will appreciate you."

Li Qin Yao turned to her mother and wondered if her mother was talking about her unhappy marriage with her father.

"Thank you, auntie," Han Yue Xiu smiled. Then, she looked at her breakfast and ate happily.

Once the three of them had their breakfast, they headed downstairs and found that Liang Sheng was waiting for them.

"Miss Li, hello," Liang Sheng greeted. He looked at the two people behind Li Qin Yao and nodded.

"Liang Sheng, this is my mother, Xu Yilan, and my friend, Han Yue Xiu," Li Qin Yao introduced.

Liang Sheng greeted them both before he chatted with Li Qin Yao about their plan. Soon, Liang Sheng took the car keys from Li Qin Yao and drove the three women to the site.

"Who is this, Liang Sheng?" Han Yue Xiu whispered after a few minutes staring at the bespectacled man.

"My grandfather sent him to assist me with this new project I was working on," Li Qin Yao said. "Since you're jobless now, why don't you stay here with my mother and me and worked for me?"

"If the salary's good and you promised that you wouldn't make me work unnecessary overtime, I'll consider it," Han Yue Xiu laughed. She felt her phone vibrating in her purse and frowned when she saw the name on the screen. Swiftly, she swiped her fingers on the red button to reject the call.

"Your boss?" Li Qin Yao asked. She saw the name on Han Yue Xiu's phone earlier and guessed.

Han Yue Xiu rolled her eyes. "My ex-boss."

Li Qin Yao nodded when she noticed that Han Yue Xiu did not want to comment on her boss.

Soon, the car arrived at the site, and Liang Sheng took them around the land that her grandfather wanted to purchase. Although Li Qin Yao had stayed in B City for a few years, it was her first time coming to the area. It was a 70 acre land with a small lake in the middle of it.

If her grandfather did not mention that he was considering to develop a project in B City, there was no way that Li Qin Yao would come and see the land.

Li Qin Yao stayed with Liang Sheng as she listened to him speak about the land. As Li Qin Yao observed the land and the surrounding area, she finally had some inspiration to continue working on the proposal.

When they finished looking around the land, it was around lunch hour. Li Qin Yao invited Liang Sheng to have a meal with them so that they continued to talk about their work.

After ten minutes of driving, they arrived at a restaurant that Xiao Lian Yi had recommended to her. They picked a seat and placed their order. Because the restaurant is famous for its seafood dishes, Li Qin Yao decided to order some of their best selling dishes.

"I almost forgot," Liang Sheng spoke to Li Qin Yao as they walked out of the restaurant. "I have found an office for us. In a few days, we can start to move in."

Hearing the good news, Li Qin Yao heaved a sigh of relief. Since Liang Sheng had found a new place, then the others won't have to work uncomfortably at her cafe. "I'll leave it to you with the moving in process."

Liang Sheng nodded. "Of course."

"Once we settle into the new office, you can start hiring a few more people," Li Qin Yao said. "We need to speed up if we wanted the proposal to be ready before the deadline."

Liang Sheng nodded again. "Miss Li, are you sure that you don't need me as your chauffeur?"

"No need. I'll just take my mom and friend to walk around and shop," Li Qin Yao smiled. "It's Sunday. You've spent enough time accompanying me to look around the site. It's not good if I continue to use your time when you should be having your private time."

"Well, thank you, Miss Li," Liang Sheng chuckled. "I'll see you tomorrow."

Li Qin Yao bid her goodbye to Liang Sheng. She turned around to find her mother and Han Yue Xiu and paused when she saw someone she knew from the distance. It was her cousin, Li Mu Chen. Li Qin Yao frowned as she watched her cousin walked into a shop.

What is Li Mu Chen doing here in B City?
