On the day of the shareholder meeting, Li Qin Yao woke up earlier than usual before she headed to Li's Residence. Once she showed up at the door, her grandmother quickly dragged her to the dining area to let her have her breakfast and nagged because she chose to stay in the hotel instead of accompanying her in Li's residence.
It was only when Li Qin Yao coaxed her grandmother that she will stay with her the next time she came to visit, that her grandmother reluctantly let her go.
Li Qin Yao was munching on some egg tarts when her grandfather showed up. She put down the egg tart on the plate, wiped her hands with a wet towel and greeted her grandfather politely.
"You're here," Li Ren Xin nodded.
"I thought I should head over to the headquarter with you and we can attend the meeting together," Li Qin Yao said.
Li Ren Xin nodded. He opened his mouth to say something but Li Qin Yao beat him to it.
"Grandfather, let's talk about business later, you should have breakfast first, or else, we'll be late to the meeting," Li Qin Yao reminded with a smile.
Li Ren Xin glanced at his wife. "I'm the Chairman, who would dare to scold me if I showed up late for a few minutes," he said and chuckled. Despite saying that, Li Ren Xin obediently sat down at the table and let the auntie serve him his breakfast.
The grandfather and granddaughter ate their breakfast and did not mention anything about their meeting. Once they finished, Old Mrs. Li sent them both to the door.
"I heard from your grandfather that there's a shareholder meeting today," Old Mrs. Li said to Li Qin Yao. "You haven't joined the meeting for years and this time, you decided to participate. Is everything alright?"
Li Qin Yao glanced at her grandfather and knew that he had not said anything regarding the project in B City to her grandmother. "It will be fine. Don't I have my grandfather with me?"
Old Mrs. Li sighed. She knew that her granddaughter had not shown up at the shareholder meeting after that incident two years ago. When Li Qin Yao choose to resigned from QL Group, the shareholders had treated her coldly, believing that she was solely responsible for the accident.
As Old Mrs. Li thought recalled how her granddaughter was treated, she started to worry.
She turned to her husband and reminded him to look after their granddaughter. It was only after Li Qin Yao reminded her that they were going to be late that her grandmother let her husband leave.
Li Ren Xin waved his hand to gesture the driver to drive. Once they left the Li Residence premises, Li Ren Xin looked at his granddaughter. "What's the matter? Why did you come to find me early in the morning?" He leaned forward and raised a brow. "It couldn't be that you're nervous, right?"
"It has been two years since the last time I joined a shareholder meeting. It's not strange for me to get nervous about it, grandfather," Li Qin Yao said and smiled. "Since I haven't shown up at the headquarter for years, of course, I will need you to make a good impression on myself."
Chairman Li was stunned momentarily at her granddaughter's smile. "Good impression? Or is it that you're trying to make a grand entrance, huh?" he laughed and continued, "I bet that that was not the only reason why you came over to find me so early in the morning."
"Grandfather is still the one who knows me best."
Li Ren Xin chuckled at his granddaughter's honeyed words. "Speak. What is the problem?"
Li Qin Yao then summarized her discussion from two days ago. When she finished, her grandfather had a frown on his face.
"If what you suspected is true, then, there will be problems during the voting session later," Chairman Li said his thought aloud. His right hand was caressing his chin. "If your Second Aunt had everything prepared, it would be difficult for us to gain the shareholder's vote. Most of them are on Zhao Wei's side."
"I can accept if the proposal failed due to my incompetence, but it's another story if they refused to pass the motion because I happen to be the one in charge of this project," Li Qin Yao said.
The crease between Li Ren Xin's eyebrow deepened. He was the one who wanted his granddaughter to be in charge of the project in B City. Back then, he had failed his granddaughter by choosing not to stand with her when she needed him the most. Letting Li Qin Yao to be in charge of the development project in B City was his way to apologize to her.
Li Ren Xin knew that his granddaughter, Li Qin Yao was capable and wanted to use this chance to bring her back as the top management in QL Group.
"I will look after this thing," Li Ren Xin said after a long silence. "Yao Yao, you should only focus on the presentation this afternoon."
After half an hour of driving, the car arrived in front of the QL Group headquarters. A few of the shareholders were standing in front of the entrance, chatting among themselves when the car stopped.
Recognized the car and plate number, the group immediately stopped in whatever they were doing and turned their attention towards the black car. The driver was the first to step out. He then went to the passenger side and opened the door.
The shareholders' faces turned pale with surprise as they watched Li Qin Yao stepped down from the vehicle. She then turned around to help Chairman Li to get out. The two of them then walked towards the entrance with Li Qin Yao supporting her grandfather inside.
It was only when Assistant Liang rushed through to greet the Chairman that the shareholders snapped out of their trance. They stepped forward to greet the Chairman and Li Ren Xin replied to them courteously before he led everyone inside the building.
Because he still needed to settle a few before the meeting begun, Li Ren Xin left Li Qin Yao at the lounge along with everyone else.
Li Qin Yao chose to sit on an ottoman chair at the corner of the room, took out her phone and browsed through a few websites so that she won't appear awkward among the others.
Just as she was texting Liang Sheng to ensure that everything was going well on his part when she sensed someone sitting beside her. Li Qin Yao tilted up her head and frowned when she saw that it was her cousin, Li Ming Han.
"Cousin sister," Li Ming Han greeted with a sunny smile on his face. "It's been a while since I see you at the shareholder's meeting!"
