"Tracking you here was an easy thing, however, trying to find out where you live was quite troublesome. Fortunately, you have listed your parents' number as the contact person to the HR Department," Song Yi said and smiled. "You should really remind your parents to be careful of scammers."
Han Yue Xiu gritted her teeth at the thought that Song Yi had scammed her mother into telling him her home address.
She had momentarily forgotten how sly this man could be. She had spent most of her time with him from day one she was employed in his company. And Han Yue Xiu was there from the very first month that Song Yi had started up his company. Han Yue Xiu thought that she should have known better.
Song Yi was someone who was not afraid to pull a few tricks to win business deals or to get whatever he wanted. She had stayed by his side for years. Of course, she had seen him do this and that.
But perhaps, after spending time with him for years, she had gotten used to him and was no longer cautious of him.
Han Yue Xiu took a few deep breaths to calm down. "Now that you have seen me, you can go back."
Song Yi pretended that he had not heard her words. He stepped further into the apartment and began to look around. After a while, Song Yi began to realize that Han Yue Xiu would take a step back each time he stepped forward. Song Yi stared at the girl in front of him and asked, "Han Yue Xiu, are you afraid of me?"
Instinctively, Han Yue Xiu lifted the two paper bags in her hand to cover her chest.
Song Yi let out a chuckle and continued to watch her with an amused expression. "Relax. I am not going to do anything to you."
"I don't trust you. Mister Song, this would not be the first time you lie."
Song Yi let out a heavy sigh. "Can we talk? Properly?"
Han Yue Xiu continued to watch him warily as her former boss walked over to the sofa and sat down as if he was the host.
Song Yi glanced at Han Yue Xiu's laptop which was turned on and turned to Han Yue Xiu with a frown. "You're looking for a job? Why don't you come back and work for me?"
"No. I don't want to," Han Yue Xiu was quick to reject. "I'm planning to stay here and I have no plan to return."
"Then should I move over here and start over?"
"What? Why? Why do you want to do that?" Han Yue Xiu put the paper bags on the table and walk over to him. "Song Yi, are you crazy?"
"You said you were planning to stay here."
"What does that got to do with you?"
Song Yi suddenly stood up, causing Han Yue Xiu to take a step backward. Seeing her apprehensive attitude towards him, Song Yi stopped at her tracks. "Han Yue Xiu, I like you."
Han Yue Xiu's eyes widened as she heard his words. "You shut up. Don't say something like that again!"
"Why can't I say that? I like you." Song Yi walked over to her and Han Yue Xiu continued to take another step back until she hit the wall behind her.
When she ran out of space to run to, Han Yue Xiu put both hands to cover her ears. It was as if she was afraid that Song Yi was going to repeat the same thing over and over again.
Once she sensed that Song Yi did not say another word, Han Yue Xiu finally looked up to meet the man's gaze.
Seeing the way he continued to stare at her, Han Yue Xiu was suddenly enraged. "You should get out of here before I call the police and report you trespassing."
Song Yi opened his mouth to speak again but was stopped by Han Yue Xiu.
"Don't say things like you like me and stuff," Han Yue Xiu said. "Song Yi, have you forgotten about Miss Fang? Weren't you going to marry her next year? And you still have the guts to say that you like me? I'm sorry, but I never want to be the third party."
"Who said anything about a third party?" Song Yi's face darkened. "Miss Fang was only someone who my parents like, but I never like her. I only treat her well because of my parents. If you don't like it, then, I will not talk to her anymore."
"Whether you like her or not, it has nothing to do with me," Han Yue Xiu lurched forward and put both hands on his chest in her attempt to push Song Yi towards the door and out of the apartment.
Song Yi pulled at Han Yue Xiu's hands on his chest to stop her from pushing him. He had come over to look for her so that the two of them can talk properly, but how did she treat him?
"Han Yue Xiu, don't you think that you're being cruel?"
Han Yue Xiu suddenly froze when she heard his tone. It was something that she had never heard coming from Song Yi. His tone sounded cold and chilling. Song Yi narrowed his eyes and stared at her angrily.
In fact, Han Yue Xiu did not understand why would Song Yi be furious at her.
She was the victim. She was the one who supposed to be angry at him!
"How am I cruel?"
"You are the one who knows everything about the company, from how to fix the system to where I last put my stapler."
Han Yue Xiu blinked. "Your stapler? What does that-"
Song Yi gave her a warning glance, causing Han Yue Xiu to shut up.
"From the first day you entered the company, you made it so that I would rely on everything on you," Song Yi continued. "And now, the company could keep on going without me around but I would struggle without you. You made me depending on you so much and now you wanted to leave me? You're still saying you're not cruel?"
