Chapter 150 - Her Parents were Acting Strange

Han Yue Xiu returned to her parents' apartment and wonder if she was being too harsh on Song Yi.

When she thought of Song Yi's sad eyes just now, Han Yue Xiu felt a bit sorry for that man. However, at this time, she did not have any romantic feelings towards him. It would not be fair to give him hope when she did not feel the same.

Moreover, right now, she did not have the thought of going into a relationship.

Once she entered the apartment, Han Yue Xiu found that her parents were not at home. She tossed her bag on the couch and went into the kitchen to fetch a glass of water. Then, she stood at the counter and browsed through her circle of friends.

Her fingers stopped when she saw Li Qin Yao's last post. Recently, this friend of hers had this habit of uploading photos of food to her circle of friends. Although Li Qin Yao did not post the picture of the person she was with, Han Yue Xiu could guess that her friend was on a date with Mister Zhang.

Judging at the frequency of the post, Han Yue Xiu could guess that the two of them went cafe hopping on their date almost every day.

Han Yue Xiu wrote a comment on the pictures and sent a personal message to tease her.

When she suddenly heard a voice coming from the front door, Han Yue Xiu placed her phone on the table and peeked from the kitchen wall. Her parents entered the house as they were whispering something.

Han Yue Xiu was about to call them out, but her voice stuck in her throat when she noticed the unhappy expression on her mother's face. And her father seemed as if he was comforting her.

She continued to watch the two of them and frowned. Han Yue Xiu thought that her parents were acting strangely. Her attempt to eavesdrop to their conversation, however, failed as the two were whispering.

Her father was the first to notice her presence. Han Yue Xiu did not miss the shocked expression on her father's face when he saw her. Immediately, Father Han nudged at his wife's arms and whispered something.

Mother Han snapped out of her trance. She hid her face at her husband's chest to wipe something on her face. Only then did the two of them turned to face their daughter.

"Yue Xiu, when did you return?" Father Han asked as he put a smile on his face.

"Probably five minutes ago," Han Yue Xiu walked into the living room. Her gaze moved to her mother and she did not miss the tears stain on her mother's face. "Mom, what's wrong with you?" she then turned to her father. "Where did you two go to?"

Her parents exchanged a glance before mother Han answered, "We went to the hospital to visit my colleague. She had an accident last night and her condition was quite bad."

Thinking that her mother was probably sad for her friend, Han Yue Xiu put her heart at ease.

Father Han led his wife into to sit down on the couch, and walked over to the kitchen and pour some water into two glasses. "That's right. Yue Xiu, didn't you go on a date just now? How did it go?"

"It was alright."

Mother Han took the glass of water from her husband and looked at her daughter with a sparkle in her eyes. "What do you think of him?"

"He's alright." Han Yue Xiu replied with a shrug.

The smile on her mother's face widened. "Do you think there will be a second date this time?"

Han Yue Xiu let out a loud exhale. "I don't know. Mister Si looked like a nice person, but it seemed that he still could not forget his ex-girlfriend. According to what he said, the two of them almost got engaged. I don't think a person who had invested in a relationship that long would be ready to meet another woman. Mom, I don't want to be that person who distracts him from his break up."

Mother Han glanced at her husband and then heaved a sigh. "Well if it doesn't work, then it's alright. You can try again and meet someone else."

Seeing that their family of three were gathered in the living room, Han Yue Xiu gathered her courage to sit beside her mother. "Mom, can you not arrange me to another blind date again. I'm tired of going to these blind dates and truthfully, I don't think that I want to get into a relationship with someone right now."

"What do you mean?" Mother Han frowned. "You don't want to get married and have a family?"

"It's not like that," Han Yue Xiu hesitated. "It's just that at this time, I am not ready for such a thing. This thing about relationships and marriage is not something that we could force. What if I marry someone and end up unhappy? Mom, Dad, you wouldn't want your daughter to live in an unhappy, marriage, right?"

The parents exchanged another glance again. When Mother Han looked at her daughter again, her gaze had softened,

"Mom," Han Yue Xiu spoke before her mother could say a word. "You know that I have recently quit my job, right. I just thought that before I settle down, there are things that I wanted to achieve as well."

Han Yue Xiu continued to give a long speech to her parents on why she did not want to attend another blind date.

After a few failed relationships, Han Yue Xiu found it hard for her to date a new man. Although she had tried to go out with others, in the end, she did not dare to take the next step as she was afraid of getting hurt.

This is why Han Yue Xiu always admired her friend, Li Qin Yao. As compared to her, Yao Yao was someone who was not afraid to get herself into a new relationship and try to fall in love again. Han Yue Xiu, on the contrary, thought that she was a coward.

Getting her heartbroken was not something that she would like to experience again. And before she found herself brave enough to try again, she did not think that she should jump into the next step.
