They silently continued their journey on the jeep. For nine hours, James drove the jeep and for another nine hours, it was Luke's turn. They were doing this so that they can escape faster. But, even so, all of them still took a break for six hours at night.
It was a little risky though. Not only they could get caught, but they could also get attacked by the monsters as well. After all, this was the Red Dragon Desert. Even so, they couldn't continue driving continuously. All of them were still too tried. And, a slight mistake could take their life.
It was currently Luke's turn to drive.
"So, what are you planning to do after this?" Aran asked while looking at Alex.
Alex shook his head and said "I haven't decided yet. How long do you think it will take to reach the nearest city?"
"We might reach the closest city till evening." Aran got the feeling that Alex was trying to change the topic, so he didn't continue asking and remained silent.
Although Alex had started talking normally, he still doesn't trust them. He kept his guard up as they eventually reached the city. It was already the evening as Aran predicted.
The city in the desert was sure to be quite poor. The walls covering the city weren't even big and there were hundreds of cracks. There were two guards covering their bodies with white clothes, and sitting under a roof inside a small cabin.
The was barely going down but the heat was still up. When the guards saw them arriving there, they walked out of the cabin.
"We haven't seen you guys before. Is it your first time here?" The guard asked as he kindly approached them.
Luke took a step forward and shook his head "No but it has been a long time. Can we enter the city?"
The guard nodded his head and stretched out his hand "Yes indeed but the cost is 50 units per person."
Unit! The main currency of today's world. It is a worldwide accepted currency that can be earned by exchanging Genesis Crystals.
Whenever a monster dies, it condenses a huge crystal made out of Genesis. Humans do not know why this happens but that crystal is worth half of the genesis absorbed by the monster for his entire life.
And, humans also need Genesis to improve even if they can't use it directly. Genesis Crystals are based on tiers. From Tier One to Nine and each tier consists of nine levels.
The higher the level, the stronger it is. And, the higher the tier, the bigger the crystal. Tier One can be exchanged for 5 units and each time the tier increases, it multiplies by five by the unit of the previous tier.
That means Tier Nine Monster is worth around 10 million units which is also the strongest monster in the world.
Alex hesitated and looked at Luke. He didn't have a single unit. Even his ID card that stores his unit has been lost. He had to make a new ID card first and then, earn some units to even eat anything.
But Luke had a new ID card or rather a unique ID card. There are two kinds of ID cards. One is white and another is black. The white one is for an individual while the black card is for the group.
That means the same ID card can be produced millions of times and used by millions of people. It was given to them by Paul.
"Four of us!" Luke spoke as he swiped the card on a card swiping machine. Suddenly, a virtual projection appeared above the machine but a few seconds later, it returned back to the machine.
"Transaction Complete!"
Whenever a transaction is done, it records the person's face who has done the transaction and matches it with the card. But, since it was a black card, it doesn't have this security.
"Please enjoy your stay in the Barrel City!"
The guard opened the path by moving to the sides. Alex and others walked forward as they entered the city but it was surprisingly empty. There were barely more than a hundred people in the street.
Luke leaned closer to Alex and spoke "Normally, it doesn't cost a single unit to enter a city but since this city is near the desert and needs to rely on other cities for necessities, it costs 50 units to enter. That's why people rarely visit this place."
"It's surprising that they are still going on. I thought it would be closed five years ago." Aran responded with a surprised tone as he looked around the city.
"It was going to shut down but there years ago before I went there, it found a mine producing Black Iron Ore. You know our current weapons need to be reinforced with Genesis in order to make them stronger."
"And, Black Iron Ore is a perfect material that can withstand the power of Genesis with ease. The city and its people are given certain units to stay here and keep working in the mine." James spoke.
'So, they went to prison at different times, huh. Well, I don't have anything to do with that. I need to find a Spiritual Warrior Office to register my identity.' Alex thought while following them.
"Alex, we will stay in this hotel for tonight. Tomorrow, you can go to the only Spiritual Warrior Office in this city and get a new ID card. After that, I will transfer some of the units from our card into yours so that you can do what plan to do." Luke stopped in front of a two-storey building and spoke.
Alex nodded his head as they went in. There was a middle-aged lady sitting behind the desk. Luke walked near the desk and said.
"We would like to book a room for two days."
The lady looked at Alex and others as she responded "Sir, each room has a small bed. It can barely fit two people. Four of you wouldn't be able to sleep properly. Would you like to increase the number of rooms?"
"How much does it cost?" Luke asked.
"Sir, it costs 25 units per room, so it would be 50 units per room for one night. And, if you would like to include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it would be extra 50 units." The lady revealed a beautiful smile and responded.
Luke thought for a moment and nodded his head "Alright! We will get two rooms with food included."
Saying so, Luke passed his card. She deducted the amount from his card and returned it. Whenever a transaction is done, the card itself reveals the amount of the transaction.
(-200)
It was the number on his card. Luke put the card in his pocket as he received the keys. On the top of the key, there were a few numbers.
"Sir, your rooms are 2 and 3. Dinner will be served from 8 to 10 during the evening, lunch from 11 to 1 during the afternoon, and breakfast from 6 to 8 in the morning."
Luke nodded his head and four of them moved toward the stairs. After they reached their rooms, they decided to split up. Luke and Alex went to one room while the other two went to another.
Luke opened the curtains and looked at the sun.
"It should be around 6. It will be freezing cold during the night so I will get some warm clothes. You can stay here and rest."
Saying so, Luke left the room while Alex sat on the ground, crossing his legs. He took the Lotus Position and formed the Spiritual Link. He formed his conscious body inside the Spirit Land and sat in front of Adam and Ava.
"I feel like my strength has improved quite a lot even though I only trained that Training Art for a single night. Is it just too fast or is it only because it's beginning?" Alex asked.
"Well, you could say both. This training art is really powerful. It will help you sustain a powerful foundation no matter how fast your strength increases. Of course, it also has another advantage."
"When you have a stronger body, you can use my Spirit Skill more proficiently. Right now, if you use Force, it will backfire on you. You might not be able to use your hand for a while. Of course, with Regeneration, we can still heal that. It's just that it will cause you some trouble." Adam nodded his head and answered.
"Alright! I should train this art even more then. By the way, I wonder if there are any changes in that status."
"Open Status!"
