Chapter 136: Unknown Power
"Prison?" Facing Bridge's words, Danny laughed out loud, but the anger in his voice was evident to everyone.
"No one can imprison us. We are born free. Why should we be discriminated against just because we are mutants? Oppressed?"
"Where do our lives come from? The streets, orphanages, experimental bases. When we found them, they were filled with fear, terror, anger, and unwillingness. This is them."
"And it is also us. We were once innocent and never harbored darkness in our hearts."
"This damned society created people like us. Why do you have the right to persecute us while we cannot respond in kind?"
"Imprisonment? What an arrogant term. You represent nothing. The only thing you can take away is corpses."
Danny's voice echoed nearby, infecting the members of the guard and the resisting mutants, or those mutants who had been captured alive. Danny's words made them recall their own unbearable past experiences. Everyone's gaze changed, from fear to anger.
Anger at these agents before them, and anger at the world.
Bridge remained silent in the face of Danny's questions. He just calmly looked at Danny and his people. He never participated in those ugly affairs, and he knew there was much oppression and injustice in the world.
But so what?
He was just performing his duty. Although his heart might be touched, nothing could change.
"Professor Charles, is the leader dead?"
Ignoring Bridge, Danny looked at Professor X and asked calmly.
Professor X felt a sense of unease but chose to remain silent, not answering.
But silence was already an answer.
Professor X, sitting in his wheelchair, closed his eyes. It was too late; the tragedy had already occurred. His heart was filled with immense sorrow. With the island destroyed, thousands of mutants on the island would be buried.
The professor felt powerless, having failed once again, watching the tragedy unfold but unable to prevent it.
However, what no one expected was that when Danny's energy penetrated the island's depths, it also awakened a non-human entity buried deep under the island. In the dark depths of the sea, a deep green monster suddenly opened fourteen eyes of varying sizes.
In an instant, a surge of mental energy burst forth, sweeping across the entire world.
Whispers, murmurs, and incomprehensible sounds spread throughout the world. Even the originally turbulent and fragmented island began to calm down. Everyone, regardless of who they were, stood still, their eyes glazed over. The whispers and murmurs continuously drilled into their brains and souls.
A nameless power gradually spread and polluted their souls.
Professor X suddenly opened his eyes, sensing the different mental force. It was a darkness he had never seen before, evil yet possessing an indescribable allure.
It seemed to draw people in, showing them a more magnificent and colorful universe.
He turned to see Wolverine Logan and Beast standing still, unconsciously loosening their grip on the wheelchair, letting it fall to the ground. Everyone was immersed in the murmuring, except for Jean, who seemed to retain some consciousness but showed signs of struggle.
At any moment, she could be pulled into the mental force.
In the distance, some agents and mutants had peaceful or reverent expressions, glowing with a different light. But under this emotion, their bodies began to change.
Some had their necks, abdomens, arms, and legs squirm, protruding hideous and disgusting tentacles.
These tentacles waved aimlessly, and some grew eyes on their foreheads and faces.
The professor immediately realized the seriousness of the situation. This was undoubtedly an unknown disaster.
He quickly put on a low-budget version of the Cerebro placed on his wheelchair. The mental power of the strongest telepath swept across the world, combating the unknown mental force.
