Ch60 - We’re Not Actually Being Haunted, Right?

Many spirits had suddenly appeared on the calm surface of the ocean. When Ji Xiunian saw this he didn’t even pause to think before raising his hand to cover Lu Xu’s eyes.

Perhaps he didn’t realise it himself; when he saw the spirits his first reaction wasn’t fear, but the thought that he didn’t want the youth to see them.

In his eyes, Lu Xu was still just an 18-year-old boy. Because he had taken that rope in the dormitory, he had started seeing ghosts. No matter what, it was related to Ji Xiunian.

Even if he didn’t know what was going on, he unconsciously wanted to protect Lu Xu. This boy’s world was clean and pure. He shouldn’t have mixed with such strange things.

“Nian ge?” Having his eyes suddenly covered by the other, Lu Xu was a little mystified. If it had been someone else, he would’ve long since pushed them away.

When Lu Xu spoke, he unconsciously blinked. His dense eyelashes fluttered against Ji Xiunian’s palm, making his hand feel itchy.

Ji Xiunian’s hand was still draped in front of Lu Xu’s eyes. The two of them were so close they could feel each other’s breaths.

This gesture looked very intimate to others; even Ji Xiunian thought this was too close.

But he still had the intention of letting go, only scooting by Lu Xu’s ear and saying lowly, “I’ll let go, don’t look behind you.”

Lu Xu was quick on the uptake and immediately guessed why. “Are there ghosts?”

“Mn.” Ji Xiunian’s voice was deep as he tried to resist the feeling of being watched, trying to avoid looking in that direction again.

“Yo yo yo, what intimate game are you two playing?”

Jiang Aida had originally been watching the shooting location at the head of the boat, telling the camera crew what effects she wanted from time to time. When she turned her head around, she saw Ji Xiunian covering Lu Xu’s eyes as he bit at his ear. The sea breeze blew past and she couldn’t hear their conversation due to the distance. But after seeing this scene, she naturally thought that the relationship between the two of them was very good.

Jiang Aida was only casually joking around, but the Ji Xiunian on the other side finally returned to his senses. Realising that he had already greeted Lu Xu, he finally hesitatingly released his hand. “It’s windy.”

“It’s windy?” Jiang Aida had to think about it for a while before she understood Ji Xiunian was explaining his actions. But no matter how windy the ocean breeze was, there was no need to cover the didi’s eyes, right?

Seeing that Ji Xiunian didn’t have any intention of saying any more, Jiang Aida smartly didn’t raise the topic again. “We’re almost at the shooting location. Let’s change the style for shooting this time.”

“Okay.” Lu Xu replied as he wondered why Ji Xiunian didn’t want him to see what was going on.

He could feel the death energy in the vicinity. This kind of feeling made him subconsciously excited, making him feel like there was a large business quota waiting for him. With these kinds of thoughts in his mind, Lu Xu decided that he would see for himself.

He first replied to Jiang Aida’s words, before pretending to turn his head back to talk with Ji Xiunian while surreptitiously glancing at the many spirits floating along the surface of the ocean. Most of them were looking woodenly in their direction, rocking the waves back and forth.

Lu Xu knew with only a glance that they were ghosts that had been confined to this side of the ocean.

They had no wish to live, so they could not leave after death. It was rather devastating to think about.

Ji Xiunian originally thought that he had convinced Lu Xu, but the moment he stopped paying attention the other party had already raised his head to look at the other side. Noticing Lu Xu’s silence, Ji Xiunian thought he had gone speechless after receiving a huge fright.

“Just pretend you didn’t see it.” Ji Xiunian said this and couldn’t help quickening his steps, using his own body to help Lu Xu block the sight of those things. “Don’t be afraid.”

“Ai?” Lu Xu really didn’t know what part of him looked scared, but he couldn’t help but smile when he saw Ji Xiunian try to protect him so seriously. He followed along with his intentions. “Mn mn, it’s good that Nian ge is here.”

Other than Jiang Aida, there were many staff members on the speedboat. They all saw Ji Xiunian talking intimately with Lu Xu.

The photographer had come from abroad. He knew that many models were interested in those of the same sex. Seeing Ji Xiunian acting so familiar and close with Lu Xu, he grinned and told Jiang Aida, “They seem to be lovers. No wonder they worked so well with each other earlier, it was because of their romantic relationship.”

Jiang Aida didn’t know whether to laugh or cry after hearing this and hurriedly explained, “They’re not lovers, only friends.”

“Just friends?” The photographer shrugged with some doubt. “Maybe.”

He felt like Jiang Aida had gotten it wrong, but he didn’t want to argue with her. After seeing Ji Xiunian stand so closely with Lu Xu and looking very intimate, how could they merely be friends?

Each person nursed their own thoughts to themselves. It was a good thing that the speedboat didn’t take long to reach the coast of the island.

The camera crew went ashore with their props and equipment. Lu Xu and Ji Xiunian went to a makeshift dressing room to change their outfits.

The theme the two of them had shot in the morning was ‘In the Mortal Realm’. After switching the filming site, the theme changed to ‘Coming into Being’.

“I want a different feeling from the one last time. You aren’t mortals anymore but gods who came to this world, understand?” The photographer worked hard to organise his language, hoping that Lu Xu and Ji Xiunian would understand his intentions.

At this moment, the two of them were wearing long overcoats, the dark folds with deep colours making their long legs look even more imposing. Even if they didn’t do anything and simply just stood there, others would feel moved.

But it was an afternoon in July. Although an overcoat and suit pants looked handsome, those who were hot knew it the best.

For example, over at Ji Xiunian’s side, he had obviously just put on makeup, but thin droplets of sweat had already appeared on his face. The makeup artist had no choice but to chase him around to touch it up.

On the other hand, Lu Xu was different. He wore the same long sleeves and long pants, but he seemed like he was completely unaffected by the heat. Even if he were asked to walk along the beach, his face remained very clean, devoid of a single drop of sweat.

“Lu Xu, you’re too good at withstanding the heat.” Even if she wasn’t participating in the photoshoot and only watching from the side, Jiang Aida was also hot to the point that she couldn’t take it.

She was holding a small electric fan and still felt that she was sweating too much through her makeup. She suddenly saw Lu Xu’s godly physique, and couldn’t help but lament.

Lu Xu laughed and then said, “My body temperature has always been low.”

Everyone marvelled that Lu Xu could still look like usual on such a hot day, while Ji Xiunian thought about his body that was so cool.

He would go back and look for a Chinese medicine doctor friend and ask them later, to see if there was any way to adjust that.

The two of them put their makeup on in the hot weather like that. They wore their coats and walked along the beach in the evening, looking like usual. Behind them was the endless sea, and there was only half a sunset left on the ocean. The photographer really liked Ji Xiunian and Lu Xu’s nine-headed body ratio, and recorded a video of them walking against the light.

The two long-legged male gods walked together with the sunset behind them. It made people feel like every step they took was like stepping on their own heart. Even if you couldn’t see their faces clearly, they were still beautiful.

They were obviously shooting an advertisement, yet it came out like a movie, and it was the kind with quality idols.

Jiang Aida watched from the side, and felt like the whole world had lit up. “It’s exactly this feeling!”

The photographer also felt that they had found treasure, and the more he filmed the better it was.

After the scene with the long coats, next up was the “getting wet and going in the water” segment.

The two of them had been asked to wear white shirts and to go into the water. They lay on the reef rocks and cooperated with the photographer to perform various actions. Their shirts had three buttons undone, exposing their delicate collarbones, beautiful chest muscles vaguely visible. The seawater wet their hair, the water droplets dripping down their neck, giving off a wild and wolfish feeling.

Seeing that the shoot was about to end, the photographer finally made a request, hoping that the two would be in the same frame in this image.

After pleasantly shooting so many sets of photos together, Ji Xiunian and Lu Xu were both okay with it, and immediately nodded in agreement.

“That’s great.” The photographer was very excited, and instructed the staff to get the perfume. Then he told Ji Xiunian the kind of image they wanted. “I need you to cover Mr Lu Xu’s eyes with one hand, like on the boat.”

Then he passed the perfume to Lu Xu, and let him hold the perfume in one hand while touching Ji Xiunian’s face.

Probably because they knew the philosophy of “the more charming, the more dangerous”, the photographer straightforwardly asked Ji Xiunian to look at the camera with an expression that was smiling and not smiling.

The act of covering the eyes was an ambiguous action in and of itself, after all the two of them were now wearing their drenched white shirts and standing halfway in the seawater.

This was an extremely impactful image, making people feel excited when they saw it, and their minds unconsciously imagined the relationship between the two.

“OK, let’s call it a day!”

Soaking in the sea was an uncomfortable feeling. After hearing them say it was OK, Ji Xiunian immediately tugged Lu Xu. “After rinsing off, change your clothes. Take care to stay warm and don’t catch a cold.”

Although the July weather was hot, the seawater at night carried a cooling feeling. In such a situation, soaking in the water was not a very fortunate thing, and a lot of people who had weak physique would catch a cold.

“You too, Nian ge.”

Their drenched shirts stuck to their bodies which was a very unlikeable feeling.

Lu Xu crawled out from the water. After he showered and changed out of his clothes, he went to the side of the boat and waited for them to set off.

Not far away, other people were giggling and talking about something. Only Lu Xu was staring fixedly at some point in the ocean.

So many dead souls were trapped there. He didn’t know the reason for it, but if he opened orders then those were all performance quotas.

Lu Xu thought about it, and his eyes glinted with excitement.

“What are you thinking about?” Ji Xiunian had finished changing his clothes at some time and had walked behind Lu Xu. Seeing him stare at the ocean in a daze, he couldn’t help but ask.

Lu Xu turned his head, and narrowed his eyes when he saw Ji Xiunian. “Nian ge, did you get an uncomfortable feeling when you saw that group of dead souls just now?”

“Mn?” Ji Xiunian didn’t think that Lu Xu would suddenly ask something like that, and was a little dazed.

Truth be told, although it was strange for so many dead souls to suddenly appear, in reality, Ji Xiunian hadn’t felt any kind of discomfort.

They seemed to just be watching this side, with no malice in their gazes.

Ji Xiunian unconsciously shook his head, yet he also didn’t want to think too much on it and reassured Lu Xu, “As long as we don’t go and interact with them, it will be fine.”

After such a long day, he still thought Lu Xu was afraid of ghosts.

Lu Xu pursed his lips and didn’t say anything, just silently admitting this misunderstanding.

The two of them didn’t speak very much

By the time the speedboat went into the waters again, the sky was already getting dark.

The night was windy and the waves pounded against the speedboat.

The speedboat was pushed back and forth by the waves. Everyone felt a sense of crisis that could fall upon them at any moment.

Jiang Aida told everyone to put on their life jackets and prepare themselves before pointing at the cruise ship not too far away. “Everyone, don’t be afraid, it’ll be fine once we get on the cruise ship.”

As she was speaking, she saw the cruise ship get further and further away.

The speedboat that should have been going towards the cruise ship had drifted into no-man’s land. No matter how they repositioned it, it would not move. A crew member on top of the speedboat couldn’t help but think of the legend of the Devil’s Bay and became somewhat uneasy, mumbling, “How come the operation malfunctioned. It was working just fine earlier. There really are ghosts…”

“Malfunction?”

Once the people on the speedboat heard this they couldn’t help but also become frantic. They didn’t know who had first mentioned Devil’s Bay, but the atmosphere had become somewhat frozen.

It was Ji Xiunian who remained calm, saying steadily, “If the operation doesn’t work then we should send out a signal for help.”

“Yes yes.” The skipper hurriedly picked up the communication equipment, thinking of contacting the cruise ship in front of them. However, an even more bizarre thing happened. The equipment that had had a signal earlier on was only buzzing; there was no way for them to establish contact with any other equipment.

“Heavens, what should we do? By the time they discover that we’re missing, we’ll already have drifted into the open seas?”

“My phone doesn’t have signal, my calls won’t go through.”

“Mine too, I have no way to contact the outside world.”

Seeing that the speedboat was being blown further and further away, the people on board became more and more frantic. The timid ones even cried out, “We’re not actually being haunted, right? Do you guys remember the legend of the Devil’s Bay?”

Ji Xiunian wanted to tell them that there wasn’t anything to be afraid of, but when he looked up and saw the dead reappearing in front of them, he also cried out in shock.
