Ch79 - The “Song God” Has Arrived

The door wouldn’t open no matter what. Han Tianyu asked hesitatingly, “Should we look for a building staff member and ask for a key?”

“A key to lock it isn’t going to help.” Xu Haoming was extremely frantic, afraid that something bad had happened to Lu Xu inside. “All of you clear the way, I’ll do it.”

As he spoke, he took a few steps back in order to leave some open space, and got ready to kick the door open.

However, just as Xu Haoming had begun to prepare to kick the door open, the sudden sound of flushing appeared from within the bathroom.

The three of them were stunned in place, not sure what kind of a situation this was.

In the next moment, when he saw Lu Xu open the door looking perfectly fine, only then did Xu Haoming feel at ease. But when he thought of how frantic they were earlier, he had to mumble to himself, “Xu ge you were perfectly fine inside, why didn’t you say anything when we were calling for you…”

Before he had even finished speaking, his gaze fell on the earbuds in Lu Xu’s ears. Fine, no wonder he couldn’t hear them, it turned out he had been wearing earbuds.

As if to corroborate his thought, Lu Xu looked at the three of them in front of him in shock. He lifted his hand to take his earbuds out. “What is this, are all three of you urgently waiting to go to the bathroom?”

“…”

Xu Haoming said pitifully, “No Xu ge, I called you and you didn’t respond, and you were squatting inside for so long, I thought something had happened to you.”

Han Tianyu also felt a little embarrassed. “I also got misled by Haoming, it hadn’t crossed my mind that you were listening to music with earbuds in.”

The Xu Haoming who was suddenly attacked couldn’t help but pout. “How could I have known ah, say Xu ge, you even listen to music while going to the bathroom. With it on so loud, are you able to feel the music better like this?”

Before Lu Xu could open his mouth, Song Zhe had already lightly kicked Xu Haoming’s butt from behind. “You listen to ‘Little Leaping Frog’ in the shower, so why can’t others squat and listen to heavy metal?” After saying this he turned around and smiled at Lu Xu. “Haoming is just worried about you, it’s good that nothing is wrong. It’s late, we should all hurry and shower and sleep. The guest mentors are coming tomorrow, are you guys not excited?”

“Aaaaaaa my Manman!” Xu Haoming apparently just remembered this and hurriedly took out a SK brand face mask to stick on his face. “I have to see my goddess in my most beautiful state!”

Lu Xu laughed silently and Han Tianyu by his side couldn’t resist asking, “Xu ge, are you excited to see your shijie?”

“I’m okay.” Lu Xu pursed his lips, his pretty eyes carrying a hint of deeper meaning. “Compared to my shijie, I’m more excited to meet Qu Dehui.”

Song Zhe involuntarily looked up at him, asking curiously, “Are you Instructor Qu’s fan?”

Lu Xu shook his head and smiled slightly. “Not really, I purely just want to meet him. After all, isn’t he a song god?”

When Xu Haoming heard him say this, he couldn’t help but glance at Lu Xu a few times. He originally wanted to ask why he didn’t choose the vocal group if he liked Qu Dehui, but he felt like Lu Xu didn’t like Qu Dehui very much.

Even he didn’t understand why he would think this, so he brushed it off as overthinking.

The competition wasn’t there to play around in. No matter how close you were with someone, there were some things that shouldn’t be said out loud.

The four of them chatted for a while before going back to their own bunk beds, waiting for the the new episode to be recorded the next day.

Lu Xu hadn’t lain down for too long when the Grim Reaper App notified him of a new client.

Death was something that didn’t have any regards for time nor situation. It happened everywhere at any time.

Thankfully all his roommates were all peacefully within their dreams. Lu Xu wrapped his quilts around himself, and immediately opened up the order-taking interface.

This night’s sleep was not restful.

Lu Xu took on a total of ten clients. Just from the quantity, it wasn’t a very heavy workload. However the ten orders didn’t happen at the same time, rather they were all at different intervals, and so Lu Xu didn’t stop the entire night.

Fortunately, he had some free time during the recording. Lu Xu turned his phone off and set it to take orders automatically. If anything happened, he could always find an excuse to run over.

At 8 A.M., the trainees crowded into the large classroom after eating breakfast, ready to begin the day’s recording.

There was a huge bulletin board in the middle of the classroom, filled with tables drawn with the team groupings.

The contestants’ names were written on stickers, in preparation for being stuck under their groups.

“I was so nervous last night that I didn’t fall asleep. I kept thinking that applying for the vocal group was a mistake, is it too late to regret it now?”

“No way, you chose the vocal group too?”

“Aaa what should we do, I also applied for the vocal group ah…”

The future groups that they had applied for yesterday would naturally impact their second public performance.

After learning about the lineup of the guest mentors, many trainees became very cautious.

For example, the vocal group had Qu Dehui and Yu Manman. No matter what, they were top tier characters. If they could enter their groups, no matter if they could get along with their instructors or not, they could at least brush up to their popularity.

But high returns led to high competition.

The program staff hadn’t even announced the results of their applications yet, but there were many voices below announcing that they had chosen the vocal group.

By the time the results were announced, this week’s vocal group  would have probably become a fierce battle, with carnage everywhere.

As expected, not long after the show began recording, everyone noticed that the stickers under the vocal group had become very dense, with almost no space left.

The amount of people in the dance groups was also not small, and they had just the right number of people.

The trainees below who saw this result couldn’t help but moan. If they weren’t chosen by a vocal instructor, then they would have to be in the composition group.

Many of the trainees who applied for the vocal group were very skilled. The trainees who had wanted to rub off on some of the popularity there became more and more regretful. If they had known that the situation would have been like this from the beginning, they would have chosen the dance group for a better chance to compete.

“Okay, everyone’s application submissions have been completed. Now let’s invite our mentors on stage, and shortly afterwards we’ll release the official team lists…”

Along with the sound of Ji Xiunian speaking, the classroom’s main entrance opened.

First, the very familiar Qin Kewei and Shen Chengyu entered with Gu Wenan, then from behind them entered the powerful guest mentors Yu Manman and Qu Dehui.

No matter if it was their usual mentors or the guest mentors, they were all very popular celebrities. Each one  of them had their own dedicated fanbase. And today, in the presence of so many celebrities, the trainees’ screams were nonstop and their enthusiasm almost flipped the roof upside down.

This was actually Lu Xu’s first time meeting Yu Manman, and he had to admit that merpeople really were very beautiful.

Not only did she have a dazzling, bright face, any words she said would make others feel like the heavens had dawned upon them.

After Yu Manman entered, she glanced at Lu Xu without any changes to her expression other than a smile that was obviously meant to cheer him on.

Lu Xu smiled at Yu Manman to return her goodwill.

But the Tao Yingbo beside him fiercely stared at the happily chatting man next to Yu Manman. It was this fake gentleman who had stolen his compositions. Now that he was dead, Qu Dehui had earned both fame and fortune.

Tao Yingbo even had the heart to strangle him to death, but ghosts and mortals were on two separate planes. He currently could not even get close to the other’s body, and could only stare resentfully as if to burn a hole through Qu Dehui’s body.

Qu Dehui continued on with a face without expression, first introducing himself before following Yu Manman to discuss the members of the vocal group.

Xu Haoming and Xu Lele stood to each side of Lu Xu. The two of them clasped their hands together in prayer that they would achieve their wishes.

Very quickly, Qu Dehui gazed in their direction and laughingly told Xu Haoming to stay in their group.

Xu Lele was rather disappointed, his wail somewhat devastated.

When Qu Dehui heard this disturbance he smiled, his teeth showing, and comforted Xu Lele. “Student Xu Lele, we didn’t choose you not because you’re not good enough, but because we think you can challenge your composition skills this time. Believe me, as long as you have the skills, you’ll be okay no matter where you go.”

Lu Xu listened to Qu Dehui say this, saw the Tao Yingbo next to him who was so angry he could have become a pufferfish, and couldn’t help laughing softly out loud—

Good riddance to as long as you have the skills. A “song god” who gave others chicken soup every day, who had become famous through others’ blood and sweat; only the heavens knew how he could have the face to say this.

It was just that Lu Xu’s laughter was too sudden, or perhaps Tao Yingbo’s resentment had some impact. Qu Dehui, who had just given Xu Lele some useless chicken soup, immediately noticed Lu Xu in the midst of the crowd.

He knew about this trainee; his singing and dancing were very good, and he might actually debut in centre position.

He originally thought that since Yu Manman had come herself that Lu Xu would choose the vocal group, and he didn’t think he would choose the composition group.

As Qu Dehui thought this, he smiled and asked Lu Xu a casual question to engage him, “Lu Xu, I saw that you don’t have any composition experience, why didn’t you choose the vocal group when you heard that contestants were being split into teams?”
