Chapter 692 - The True Undead Puppeteer

Of course, Qin Feng was not offering his help out of kindness. He was just hoping that he would not cause a string of butterfly effects that would lead to much bigger chaos.

Before he was reborn, Tung Yang was not going to arrive at the Divine Mountain this early. Instead, he was supposed to be at East Sea City, handling the flood crisis.

And Qin Feng did not know whether Obol would eventually be at odds with Tung Yang.

However, if he caused the death of the Eastern Region’s regent, things would then swirl completely out of his control.

The two men had connected their consciousness together via a small communication device that Tung Yang gave Qin Feng. This was a device that was rather similar to the one he acquired in the Perished Lands. It could connect two people’s consciousness within tens of thousands of meters!

Thus, they split up again.

Qin Feng kept on hunting ultra beasts and then subjugating them into one of his Undead Puppets. With their and Bai Li’s conscious energy, they were able to detect a lot of treasures and Heavenly Jewels from miles away.

Meanwhile, Obol had retreated from where Qin Feng was earlier at the speed of a lightning. The other ultra beasts that appeared in front of him were of course no match for him; so, even though he was not able to rob the harvested treasures from Tung Yang, Obol was still able to hunt all these ultra beasts and harvest their materials for himself. As a result, he too had looted a great haul from this trip.

According to the history that Qin Feng knew, other than the death of the Glutton Leviathan, there was also another incident—one that involved the birth of a group of S-tier ability users.

And one of these people was Obol.

Ascending from A8-tier to S-tier in just a day, this also meant that the power one could harvest from the Divine Mountain was plentiful and insanely powerful!

Obol was quick to detect another source of energy. He could tell by just sniffing the air—it was the scent of death! The scent was one of rotting flesh, one that would make one nauseous when smelling it.

This was the scent of ptomaine!

And this was not something that any mere Undead Puppeteer could control!

Obol turned his head and saw the rotten flesh on the ground. A strange feeling crept up his mind as he slowly followed the trail.

He could feel that someone was standing still within five hundred meters. It was as though he was waiting for him.

It seemed that that person had already detected Obol.

However, Obol was not able to detect this person’s presence because he was a dark ability user.

“Kounsat!”

Obol saw a skinny man dressed in a black robe. From afar, he looked like a skeleton.

“Obol!”

The man looked at Obol as several Undead Puppets started to congregate around him, seemingly prepared to block Obol’s attacks. His eyes were glittering with greed, most likely thinking of murdering Obol on the spot to obtain whatever treasures the man had on him.

This was the A-tier dark ability user that Obol thought about when confronting Tung Yang earlier—Kounsat!

“So, you’re here… If you’re here, then who was the one I met earlier?” Obol took a look at Kounsat and noticed that he only had five Undead Puppets with him.

There was also a humanoid, dressed in a black robe, following Kounsat. Obol knew that this “humanoid” was not a person—it was Kounsat’s strongest Undead Puppet. When he was alive, the man was an S-tier ancient warrior from the West Asia Alliance. After he died, Kounsat dug him out secretly and made him his puppet. Due to this, Kounsat was now hunted by the West Asia Alliance—which led him to join the Dark Coalition.

Kounsat had since done numerous inhumane experiments and research within the Dark Coalition’s territories.

Looking at Kounsat’s five Undead Puppets, Obol realized that these were merely the level of beast generals. The only one that he was wary of was just the S-tier ancient warrior puppet and Kounsat himself—who was an A1-tier ability user. Still, if he wanted, he could just strike him down here and then—Obol could just kill the skinny, frail man in one hit. Without their master, the other puppets would fall as well.

However, Obol did not feel that they needed to fight.

“Hehe, you won’t believe it if I tell you. Just now I was hunting the Eastern Regent of the Huaxia Alliance. And then, I met a dark ability user. He was able to command a dozen ultra beasts in the forest over there!”

Kounsat’s eyes shrunk as he stared at Obol.

“Seriously?”

“What do I have to gain by lying to you?”

Kounsat’s eyes were now glittering with joy. Obol knew this man had hunted down numerous dark ability users in the past. His reason was mainly because he wanted to rob the others’ Undead Puppets. This was like how the gunners would challenge one another to get their guns.

Kounsat’s puppet was S-tier. As such, it was natural for him to worry that there could be others that would rob it away from him. This was also why Kounsat had killed many dark ability users that had potential to become strong.

Obol’s motivation was to have Kounsat get rid of the threat near Tung Yang for him.

“Hehe, if you’re interested, they were heading that way. Don’t thank me. Just think of this as me looking out for a friend!”

After saying his piece, Obol left in a split of lightning. Kounsat, still standing there, glared in the direction that Obol was pointing at and ordered his Undead Puppets to head toward Qin Feng’s location.

They were still far apart at the moment; and there were also countless other dangers in the Divine Mountain. Thus, when Kounsat was able to get to Qin Feng, three hours had already passed.

Despite Kounsat being an A-tier dark ability user, Qin Feng was the one who spotted him first.

Qin Feng’s consciousness had already grown so much after all. And with him gathering so many dark runes lately, it was a piece of cake for him to detect Kounsat.

“Ah, it’s Kounsat from the West American Dark Coalition!” Qin Feng smirked.

“This is just great. I’ve been meaning to find you to avenge myself from my previous life. And now, you’re coming to me. How quaint of you!”

Before he was reborn, Qin Feng was the King of Mercenaries. He had been to numerous parts of the world. Sue to the West American Alliance and Huaxia Alliance being parted by just a large pool of ocean, after ascending to A-tier Qin Feng had journeyed to the West American Alliance a lot of times whenever something huge happened. It was then, Qin Feng and Kounsat had clashed a lot of times. If it was not due to Qin Feng still retaining one percent of his Absorption Ability, he would have died in his heads at least eight hundred times.

Kounsat was one of his nemeses in Qin Feng’s previous life.

“Perhaps I should prepare a proper welcome for this old friend!”

Qin Feng thus ordered hundreds of his Undead Puppets to be enveloped under his dark runes, exposing only five of his weakest puppets—ones that were only as strong as beast generals.

Qin Feng knew Kounsat had a habit of killing other dark ability users. As such, when Kounsat saw him, he would definitely come and try to kill him.

Qin Feng wanted to show a little bit of his hand as bait.

This also meant that Obol was quite a cunning fox himself. He did see that Qin Feng had at least thirty Undead Puppets. Yet, he told Kounsat that he only had “a dozen”. Nonetheless, a dark ability user that could control ten to twelve Undead Puppets was already a threat to Kounsat.

Now, as Kounsat moved onward, he was able to detect Qin Feng’s presence.

“Oh? He’s here?”

“Hmm? He’s just a B-tier? And only five puppets? This is different from what Obol said earlier. But if it’s just a B-tier, this means that he has probably expended too much energy!”

“Hehe, well too bad, kiddo. It’s a bad day for you today because you’re going to face me!”

Kounsat did not even realize what was wrong with the situation at hand at all. In fact, he even made a rationale behind the difference in the number of Undead Puppets that his opponent had.

And he kept on moving forward to confront Qin Feng!
