Chapter 913 - Long Ting’s Request

The Cherub’s tail was also cut off by Qin Feng. As for the top half, Qin Feng could not bear to collect a human-looking baby so he left it.

“Come out and hunt freely. These beasts are defenseless now!”

Though the Cherub was killed, these beasts had been induced into a deep sleep and would not wake up for a long time.

The Glutton halted its ascent. Below it was a large band of sea beasts waiting silently to be slaughtered.

The beasts were completely defenseless. Everyone on board was jubilant seeing the easy prey and exited the vessel eagerly.

When these beasts emerged in the sea, they were all once great monsters that struck fear in people who saw them. Now, they were just floating lifelessly around the aptitude users.

At first, the humans worked carefully and quietly as they were afraid that the beasts might be startled. Soon, they became bolder as they realized no matter what they did or how much noise they made, the beasts remained deadly still and quiet.

Hence, they no longer restrained themselves and harvested the beasts freely.

Helian Mingjie noticed an A-tier beast king and approached it excitedly. He brandished his weapon but only managed to scratch its scale and leave a thin scar on it. The power gap was too huge. Helian Mingjie could not hurt the beast even in its sleep.

It was like how an ant wanted to kill a human—simply impossible. The best he could do was give the A-tier beast king a tickle.

Qin Feng swam toward him. Helian Mingjie’s face reddened when he saw Qin Feng. Though Qin Feng had said they were free to dissect the beasts, everyone knew all these should belong to Qin Feng. Had he not threatened the Cherub enough and forced the baby to put these beasts into sleep, they were probably still in grave danger now, left alone being able to come into the water freely.

Helian Mingjie already had a few A-tiers in his pockets before spotting the A-tier beast king. It was too greedy to lay eyes on loot that was not rightfully his.

More embarrassingly, he was too weak to claim the reward and his action drew the attention of the true owner.

Helian Mingjie wished there was a hole for him to hide in now.

“Qin Feng, I have to admit, I was wrong about you. You are an extremely capable fighter. I hope you don’t feel offended by my previous ignorance,” Surprisingly, Helian Mingjie gave up his pride and apologized to Qin Feng.

Qin Feng thought he had heard him wrong.

‘The arrogant Helian Mingjie is apologizing to me? Is this the same pompous man that I remembered from my past life?’

But when Qin Feng saw Helian Mingjie’s reddened face, looking like a criminal waiting for judgment, he realized that the man was sincerely sorry.

Perhaps, instead of shaming him, letting him realize the mistake that he had made was a better way to subdue the stubborn man.

“Alright. Apology accepted. We should both let it go. Go and hunt the others. I will take care of this one.”

“Oh! Thanks!” Helian Mingjie quickly excused himself and turned to the other beasts. Before he could reach the next nearest beast, Qin Feng had already sliced the beast king into parts effortlessly. Helian Mingjie suddenly felt fortunate that he had only provoked Qin Feng with words, and the latter had forgiven him big-heartedly. Had he challenged Qin Feng to a fight, his consequence would be like the beast king.

Though the battle between Qin Feng and the Cherub had lasted only roughly ten minutes, they took almost half a day to wrap up the rest of the monsters.

Except for Qin Feng and Bai Li, the labor was carried on with lingering fear. Nonetheless, perhaps because the Cherub was roaming this sea, or perhaps the Cherub had summoned most of the great beasts within this region, no other sea beasts showed up during the process.

When everyone’s spatial equipment was filled, Qin Feng did not change his initial decision and continued on their return course.

Everyone gained on this trip. Qin Feng had also passed the crystal core of the Cherub to Bai Li.

“I will assimilate this inside my dimension. This crystal core would be enough for me to reach A1.”

Bai Li’s level had stagnated for some time now. A good opportunity for her to evolve had finally come.

Having passed A-tier, the power difference between the beast deities would be minimal. But the higher tier would still be slightly stronger. More importantly, the only way to get closer to S-tiers was by leveling up consistently. S-tier was the pinnacle every beast deity wished to achieve.

As for Qin Feng, despite absorbing the life energies from such a large mass of beast waves, he did not feel he was even close to the brink of upgrade. The amount he needed to level up was massive at this stage.

After the Glutton had returned, Qin Feng went to the center to hand in his mission for the year. This way, he would be considered to have fulfilled his responsibility as a marshal.

Unexpectedly, he still received a call from his superior, Long Ting.

“Marshal Qin! Great job! You killed an A-tier beast deity in your first hunt.”

“This is all thanks to Regent Tung’s invitation.”

“As compared to the beasts in the sea, the threat by those terrestrial deities is actually more pressing. Since you can deal with the ones in the sea, I reckon you will not have a problem taking one out from the land?”

“From the way you are asking, don’t tell me you are giving me another mission?”

“Well, you are a capable man. Of course, it’s all up to you. We are not allowed to reveal to the public what happened in Dragon Capital. Thus, you can actually use this hunt to aid your publicity. At least, those naysayers would shut their mouths once they witness what you can do.”

The Dragon Capital invasion had been covered up by the authorities. Only a selected few had been informed of the whole incident. After the news that Qin Feng was elected a marshal broke out, a lot of powerhouses in other regions were not pleased. After all, Qin Feng was just an A-tier. The marshal position was usually limited only to S-tiers.

Strong rebuttals came especially from those ancient families. They had eyed the small circle for a long time but never got the chance to enter it. How was an unknown A-tier teenager who came out of nowhere given it?

If someone like Helian Mingjie was already giving Qin Feng a hard time during a mission, then it was not hard to imagine what would be the attitude of those more influential elects. It must be bad enough for Long Ting to make this call.

Qin Feng contemplated and answered, “I have actually promised Regent Tung Yang to kill another beast. Once I hunt it down, I will publish the video.”

“Great! It would do me a favor to shut their mouths too. Come to Dragon Capital once everything settles over there, I will arrange a celebration banquet for you.”

“That would not be necessary. You know I don’t like such occasions.”

“Fine then. I am not going to force you.”

After terminating the call, Qin Feng set sail again. This time, he did not bring along Tung Yang’s men. Tung Yang tacitly did not send his men to follow Qin Feng either. That would only slow Qin Feng down, and dilute the loot that Qin Feng had no problem claiming without help.

Half a month later.

A clip with a high click rate became trendy on Huaxia’s battle net. The number of views had gone beyond five times the current population on Earth.

In the video, a man with a thick internal force shield who carried a saber came into vision. He stood courageously in front of a vicious beast.

The beast ascended from the sea. Its body was not considered gigantic. The scary parts were its tentacles. Each of them was at least one thousand meters long. They twirled and twitched like dragons in the water.

One tentacle could have sunk a vessel, or elicited a tsunami.

A creature on top of the Abyssal Ocean food chain—the Hundred-Claws.

The atrocious creature’s opponent was, surprisingly, a mere human.

After a brief standoff, the Hundred-Claws moved, and so did the man.
