Chapter 1345 Changes

Xia Zhao drove Mu Chenyan back to his place. Even though Mu Chenyan had been here plenty of times, she still felt different this time around. As for what was this different feeling, she couldn't really tell for now. Anyway, there was no point in dwelling over it.

Stepping inside this clean home, Mu Chenyan looked around and couldn't help messing with him. "Zhao, you said this is our home now, right?"

Xia Zhao put his keys away and not knowing what she had on mind, he still nodded his head in response, "Yes."

"This means, I have the equal right on this house as you, right?"

"Obviously," he answered. "But why do you ask that?"

"Since it's my house too, I can change how it looks, right?"

Xia Zhao's steps paused when he heard that and finally understood what she had in mind. She was up to no good again. He looked at his house which he decorated minimally. He decorated it the way he was comfortable with. But would he dare to refuse her? Not at all!

"Yes," he said to her with some difficulty. "You can do whatever you want. You can add things, you can remove whatever you want. You can even call the interior designer to change the whole place. It's all up to you."

In his mind, he was comforting himself with words, 'Yes! She can do it. It's not just my living space now. It belongs to Yanzi too. As long as she is happy, she can do it all. Anyway, if she is willing to put in effort and time, it only means that she also takes this home as her own. And what could be better than that?'

These words did work like a charm and he managed to calm himself. He did not feel like someone was invading his personal space. It wasn't just his personal space now and he also had to come to terms with this now.

Mu Chenyan looked at his expression to see if there was any unwillingness but she couldn't find it at all. "You sure, you are okay with all the changes I am about to make?"

"I'm certain," he told her.

"This place won't look so calming and relaxing anymore. Would you be okay with that?"

Xia Zhao gave her a smile, "I said I am okay. You don't have to even ask. I really mean it when I say that you can do whatever you want. When you decide to marry someone you should be ready for some changes. You can't expect your partner to like the same things as you and neither can you force your partner. Just because I like these dull and boring colors doesn't mean you have to live with them too. There is a need for compromise in every marriage but that doesn't mean only one of us have to make compromises. We can work together. Until now, this was just my house before. But now, we have to work together to make it our home."

Mu Chenyan listened to him attentively before saying, "You seem to have learned to talk well while I wasn't around in these years. And you talk a lot more too."

"The only think I learned is that if I don't want us to have any misunderstandings, I'd have to break my silence and explain myself. Or else, things will not end well for us."

Xia Zhao put the clothes he took out on the side and went to her to take the hair dryer to dry her hair patiently. His fingers ran through her hair gently and she closed her eyes feeling really relaxed right now.

After drying her hair, he took the hair brush to brush her hair slowly. Putting her hair over her shoulder, he kissed her neck as he whispered, "Your hair is dry now. I'm gonna take a shower. You can wait for a while. I'll come out to stir-fry the vegetables and we'll be ready for dinner."

Mu Chenyan hummed in response looking at him through the reflection in the mirror. Once he entered the bathroom, she touched her neck, right where he pressed his lips just now. She went down and saw that everything seemed to be ready, so she took it upon herself to stir-fry the vegetables. Anyway, it wasn't anything difficult or too troublesome. Xia Zhao came down very soon and seeing her setting the dinner table, said, "I told you, I'd do it."

"I can do it too," said Mu Chenyan. "Or you're treating me like a guest?"

"No way! I don't dare!" He raised his hands in defense. Then he just sat aside and looked at her setting the table and she even took out candles from somewhere to place in the middle. She dimmed the lights and looked at him with a proud expression as if telling him to praise her. "My Yanzi is really good at everything."

"There is no need for the compliments." Although she said that, her obvious good mood could be seen by anyone right now.

In this way, they sat down together to have their first candlelight dinner. Not just as a married couple but in general. They seem to have never had this experience together before. It was a bit novel.

"Why aren't you eating anything else?" asked Mu Chenyan. "Don't just focus on the vegetables."

"But you made this," he replied.

"Shut up and eat everything."

"Yes, boss! As they say, the formula for a happy marriage is to always listen to your wife."

"That sounds about right," she said.

Seeing that she was done eating when she was about to get up to pick up the dishes, he held her hand and made her sit back down. "What's wrong?"

Xia Zhao took out a rectangular wooden box from his pocket, placed it on the table and pushed it towards her. "This is for you."

"What's this?" she asked.

"Just open it and you'll know."

Mu Chenyan hurriedly took the wooden box and slid the lid open. Looking at the pair of emerald jade rings inside, she looked up at him. "I seem to have not given you our engagement ring or our wedding ring yet. I've been keeping this with me for too long. It's about time this ring goes to its rightful owner. Don't you think so?"
