1387 Have Influence

Xiang Wai had always thought that the actors in dramas were being too dramatic for visual effect when they had flour on their faces. But only today she came to a realization that there were indeed people in real who were clumsy enough to get flour on their faces and the one live example was her sister.

She never thought that the organized and well-prepared Raelle would be so clumsy in the kitchen. If Mu Chenyan hadn't been following her every step of the way, Xiang Wai would have no doubt that Raelle would have created a disaster. So intelligence had nothing to do with being a kitchen killer, eh? n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Xiang Wai looked at Raelle who had flour on her cheeks and finally managed to mix the cake batter. She looked so adorable like this that Xiang Wai wanted to take some photos but couldn't do so with her own hands full right now. Besides, she was certain that she if clicked a photo right now, Raelle would not let her go. "I never thought I'd live to this day," commented Cloe as she put her own cake into the oven. "My omnipotent boss is actually so clumsy right now. What a sight! I have to commit this to memory as a reminder that no one is perfect. Even Raelle Xiang has shortcomings."

"Ever her shortcomings are cute like her," was Xiang Wai's answer.

Cloe's lips twitched, "Put off your sister filter and see clearly."

"I'm fine like this," said Xiang Wai.

"Now, let's allow the cake to bake for about 30 minutes in this preheated oven," Mu Chenyan was saying to Raelle who finally managed to get the cake into the oven. Even though there wasn't that much to do when baking a cake, Raelle found it more difficult than dealing with work. "We are done?" asked Raelle.

"Not yet," Mu Chenyan burst her bubble instantly. "As the cake is in the oven, we'll start preparing the frost and decoration."

"Oh," was the only response Raelle as she followed the next steps for making the frosting.

Finally, after thirty minutes they took out the cake and checked it with a toothpick. Seeing the satisfied smile on Mu Chenyan's face, Raelle relaxed. It seems this was a success! But she didn't dare to take the credit as Raelle was self-aware of how much she weighed. She knew she'd never be able to make this cake without Mu Chenyan's help. But she was still content with this success. At least, now she was familiar with the process so the next time won't be as much of a disaster as it could have been. She happily decorated the cake with Mu Chenyan and took a photo of it.

"I think it's a success," commented Cloe while the other two didn't even bother talking and continued to eat the cake in silence. "Chief, you have my approval."

"I also think I did a good job," replied Raelle. "Even though this is the simplest cake, I feel like I accomplished something."

"I think the real accomplishment belongs to Miss Mu," said Cloe. "Only she can teach you how to bake a cake. I'm very glad we didn't listen to you the other night and took you to a cooking class or you'd have made the teacher go crazy."

"I don't see you going crazy after spending years with me."

"Chief, look carefully. I have lost a part of myself." Cloe smiled at her and added, "But I'm very glad about losing that part of me. I need to share this joy with others. I am gonna make the whole secretarial department jealous showing them how much I am valued by their boss. I even got to eat the cake made personally by Raelle Xiang. This is worth bragging about for a lifetime."

"You have become dramatic these days," commented Raelle.

"I guess the company of people does have an influence on you," replied Cloe as she gave Xiang Wai a look but thankfully, Xiang Wai didn't hear her as she was too busy enjoying the cake in her hand which was actually nothing special. After all, it was a simple vanilla cake, how special could it possibly be?

But it meant a lot to Xiang Wai who even forgot about her own cake right now.
