Chapter 46 Military Martial arts or Freelance Martial arts

46 Military Martial arts or Freelance Martial arts

He opened his eyes and the white ceiling entered his sight, the air was slightly chilly as he reduced the temperature before he slept "Derek, I want to see you in ten minutes... wait make it eight" he heard Christopher`s voice from a speaker embedded to the wall, a grunt escaped his lips and he came down from the bed and wobbled towards the bathroom. He wore bogus pants and no top.

Brushing his teeth he raised his head and stared at the holographic mirror, his scattered hair and foamed-coated lips caused him to snicker.

Six minutes later Derek stood in a huge room, which he would even call a hall, the ceiling was so high and a strange device was at the end of the room, he looked around and noticed that the part he saw was the entrance of the device.

The device surrounded the room and it was huge and round, big enough for a human to move through freely. Metal poles held the strange device mid-air and blue light flashed within occasionally. In the middle of the room, there was a round platform that was quite wide, different gadgets were symmetrically arranged on the wall and the dull silver color reflected the blue lights flashing from the huge device at the top.

"Wow, this place is huge" Derek's words echoed as he turned to Jake who was walking towards the place where the gadgets were "It is huge, but you`ll find out soon enough that it doesn't meet our requirements."

"Kid, your basics need to be filled, apart from silver you are an amateur" Derek turned to Christopher who sat on a comfy chair and rested his legs on the table before him "Silver?" Derek queried, he didn't know who this silver was and what he had to do with him.

"Oh... when your eyes are silver and your capabilities seemed to be doubled, I named it silver"

"Why? I know what I'm doing. It's just some of my emotions are suppressed, letting..." he couldn't finish his words as Jake finished them "Your rage reign."

"Yeah, exactly," Derek nodded.

"I know it's not a split personality. What I am trying to say is that you are conflicted and it has made you indecisive. In a battle, you must be decisive or you`ll be a meal for nightmares. Though you are quite good in your silver state, you lack fluid movements, the way you use your sensitivity is really poor, you make sudden movements stressing your muscles which is bad, and you also lack a proper stance. I'll assume you haven't even learned any type of martial art."

Derek exhaled loudly, his flaws weren't little. Well, what did they expect from a guy who previously focused on his studies and learned music because his mom loved to hear him sing" Okay, I accept, would you teach me now!"

Christopher's brows arched. He shook his head and slowly said "First, I'll teach you how to be decisive, then we shall move on to learning the standard military martial arts or freelance martial arts, anyone you prefer."

"This seems like a long process," Derek gasped. How long would it take him to learn martial arts and form his unique style? Everyone knows that once they've learned martial arts, they'll have to figure out their style or copy another's when they`ve finally learned and mastered Martial arts. And from Christopher`s character, he`ll surely force him to figure out his style.

"Well, there's a shorter process?" Christopher's answer shocked Derek. He never knew there was a shorter process "What is it?"

"Killing nightmares, our mediums can absorb some strange energy from the ones that you killed, that energy can enhance your genes, speeding up your evolution process... but it's not the best path Derek. You shouldn't follow such a path without adequate skills or you will be a weak target for enforcers and teleporters alike."

"Enforcers?."

"You don't even have the strength to face them. Forget about it and focus," Christopher hollered. Derek was like a sponge that sought information and absorbed it without bloating. He just hoped Derek would be a fast learner or this would take years!

"What exactly am I focusing on?" Derek queried when he suddenly heard a loud mechanic sound, turning back he saw a part of the wall opening as Jake stood by the side with a mischievous smile on his face, he place his arms at his back and slowly walked towards them but Derek had no time to think about jake`s strange smile.

Though he knew the cause was the loud sound he was hearing from behind that door, the sound got louder and a huge android came out, its metallic body gleaming under the bright white lights as its blue eyes locked on Derek.

"That's your training partner Derek and Steel! Be soft with him, he's fragile and my only student" Christopher chuckled causing Derek's eyes to twitch.

BOOM! Steel shot off the ground and landed on the platform, his robotic voice rang out "I will be gentle, sir."

From the mischievous lights in both Christopher's and Jake's eyes, Derek knew Steel would surely go 'easy' on him. He walked to the platform and exhaled "Should I not learn a martial art first?"

"Learn from Steel, he's the best teacher when it comes to military and freelancing arts"

Derek focused on steel and stood silently, suddenly its eyes turned red and it moved BAM! A hard punch hit his abdomen causing Derek to recoil followed by a second punch straight at his jaws which threw him off the platform with blood spilling from his mouth.

His sight grew blurry as he saw Jake holding his jaws, he probably felt the impact of the punched steel launched at Derek. Darkness covered his vision as he fainted.

Two weeks later two figures were exchanging blows on an elevated platform. A metal arm flashed towards Derek's face, he dogged by ducking and lowering his torso, supporting his body with his arm, Derek launched a sweeping kick towards steels shin, hoping to destabilize the android's stance though his actions were pointless as steel flipped backward and without wasting a second he rushed towards Derek with a clenched fist.

The android launched an air-splitting punch which caused Derek to frown, but he managed to avoid it only to face a roundhouse kick that knocked him out.

"Wow! He's a fast learner, though the problem still stands" Jake commented with folded arms whilst he leaned against the wall, Christopher nodded.

During these two weeks, they've noticed a crucial situation, Derek was always holding back, he couldn't dish out deadly attacks the way he does in his silver state, he chose the military martial arts and had made good progress stunning both Jake, Christopher, and Luke who called to check up on his progress.

Though the problem still stood like an unbreakable wall, Derek was still indecisive, he overthought a single thing, complex mundane thoughts he had before were now destroying his focus and finally his memories.

"He'll learn and if he doesn't.... Then he'll have to adapt because he must learn how to be decisive" Christopher said with a deep firm voice as he gazed at the unconscious Derek on the platform.
