At this moment, Adam realized one of the problems of having only one mind active. The poker face he was so proud of nearly broke.
"Hello. Happy to meet you. My name is Yui, I am a friend of Shuri."
Adam shared a handshake with Yui, completely bemused by her acting.
What in the actual fuck was happening here, Adam thought in his mind.
"Adam? Anything the matter?"
Adam gave a strained smile as he shook himself off from the feeling of bewilderment that was threatening to take over.
"Sorry. I was just shocked to hear that you have a friend outside of Mom."
"Hey! Do I look that friendless?"
"In your opinion?"
Adam rose an eyebrow at Shuri, causing her to blush and cough a little in embarrassment.
"Anyway. Firstly, happy to meet you, Yui, and secondly, I must say. You two are incredible today. I feel like I am speaking to two princesses."
He nearly gave a theatrical bow as he complimented them but coughed himself just in time.
'Oups. Nearly entered Cinder mode.'
One had to say. Both Yui and Shuri were truly beautiful and in their current attire, they were even more glamorous than usual.
They were both wearing beautiful evening gowns. One red and one blue.
Yui was a slim and slender woman. Her assets, if they could be called so, were not particularly large but neither were they small. Her current dress gave her a certain gravitas and the makeup allowed her youth to shine in a way that was truly eye-catching.
Shuri meanwhile was a mature woman in every meaning of the words. She had a body worthy of a gravure model that mocked any stereotype about Asian women being small. Her breasts were not at the same level as those of Sae but they were still massive and quite impressive.
The robe she was wearing now pushed those even more, giving a direct plunging view of her deep cleavages. A sight to behold for the sore eyes.
In front of such enticing views, Adam felt like he was currently in the bar and was working as a host. Tasks that were being clearly separated by his multiple minds were quite hard to keep track of.
'Should I simply unlock my power?'
He hesitated before shaking his head inwardly. He wished to at least stay normal until midnight.
This was a small penance and a simple prayer he was making for the soul of the woman he caused so much grief for.
"Princesses, huh…"
Shuri smiled. It was rare for Adam to be so outspoken. He was more in the silent side usually and she was worried about what might have happened if he didn't like Yui's arrival.
"So, do you plan to keep the princesses outside ?"
"Oh. Excuse my manners. Would you like to come in?"
Shuri gave a funny look at Adam before shrugging and entering. This playful Adam was quite new but it was still nice.
"So, we are still working on the grills. But we have some drinks. Anything you want?"
"Wine?" Yui asked.
"Heh, sorry we don't have any expensive wine here you know? In fact, we have more cheap beer than anything else. Though, I am sure that Shuri must have quite the collection."
'Huh…'
Shuri rose an eyebrow before realizing that Adam was talking about the drink they shared that night.
The meaningful smile on his face was worth a hundred words and she had to fight the desire to blush in front of Yui and Adam.
"*Ahem* Where is Cecilia?"
Mom should be taking a shower now. You can go upstairs and say hello."
Shuri nodded and looked at Yui, "Mind if I leave you a few minutes?"
"No problem. In the meantime, I will talk with your handsome friend here."
Shuri chuckled and walked up, leaving both Adam and Yui together.
"What the hell is going on!?"
Adam hissed once he was sure that Shuri was out of their range. To which Shuri simply shrugged,
"Shuri was the one to invite me here. I found it quite interesting so I decided to accept."
Adam did not need to be a psychic to understand that what she meant by interesting was the capacity to fully tease him as she wished.
And even at his peak, there was not much he could do against Yui. Not like he would threaten her even if he could.
"Sigh…"
"Heh, the great Adam, slayer of devils. Are you really unhappy to see me?"
Yui spoke in a sulfurous tone while approaching him. She was very close to actually touching him and simply discussing with him but the way she acted was quite enticing.
"Sigh. I am quite happy. But I would rather you come another day or at least warn me.."
Today was quite a complicated day and he could already imagine Hacker cursing at him for making the situation far more complicated.
"Sorry, Sorry. Heh, I guess this must have been quite the surprise for you."
It wouldn't have been a surprise if Adam had used his full power.
"Though, I am surprised; I was already trying to block my thoughts and see if I could surprise you despite your domain."
"I have them lowered currently. I lowered most of my power."
'Is it even possible?'
She obviously knew how to hide her power. But what Adam was doing was different as h
It was Yui's turn to be quite bewildered but in the end, she simply moved those thoughts aside.
"Either way, the one who invited me was Shuri. But If I am truly making you uncomfortable, I can leave no problem."
It would be a shame for sure but she did not hold it against him. After all, she could have warned him.
'It seems like I need to work on my jokes'
"Nah. Stay. I will have to show my actor's skills for the rest of the night but I think it's worth it."
Both Yui and Shuri were important to him, so he wanted to keep them happy. This would also be the first Thanksgiving he would have with Shuri.
It was something worth applauding.
"So…Any drink for me? I don't mind cheap beers, by the way. We ate and drank more than this when we were broke and searching for a shelter."
Yui laughed. She could always laugh at her past now. Even more so the past gave some many small anecdotes to share with those she cherished.
Finally, the two settle in a good discussion with just them sharing how their days went. It was truly a mundane discussion. But Yui found herself relishing it.
Ding~!
The sound of the bell broke immediately the atmosphere that had been gradually building up. Yui ground her teeth, feeling like she had an urge to murder.
But those urges vanished swiftly when she felt the princess behind the door.
"Adam…"
Adam nodded at Yui and made a few steps forward in the direction of the door.
This time, even without using his domain, he could easily find who was on the other side of the door.
It wasn't hard to guess.
After all, even if the heavy feeling of power coming was not intentional, he knew very well who were the last ones that were on Cecilia's list of invitees.
Opening the door, he smiled at the two news who arrived.
"Hi, you two. I am happy to see you."
Who else but his aunt and cousin could it be?
