"Hey, Genesis. You are the one who is usually all about efficiency, right? What do you think we should do right now?"
Adam looked at his hand and frowned due to the pain.
It fucking hurt like all hell right now.
Should he just kill himself and be done with this?
Perhaps it was time to pay for a gun. A quick way to end himself when necessary was always welcome.
"If I kill myself with a bullet and revive. Would the bullet still be lodged inside my head?"
The pain in his hand kept bothering him nonstop but it was still bearable enough that he wouldn't contemplate suicide just to relieve the pain in his hands. This was also good training for him since this would allow him to train his mental strength either way.
[I believe that if you are truly able to develop immunity through continuous Death, we should prioritize things that are hard for you to protect against with your current capabilities.]
"Oh? Please continue."
[Be it fire or even crushing force, at the end of the day, they are all very much visible attacks that can be blocked by your telekinetic shield or can be avoided by your reflexes. But some attacks such as poison or even curses are far more insidious and there are not any immediate skills in your arsenal that you would be able to use to defend yourself against them.]
Adam grunted in acknowledgment as he looked at his charred and beyond well done hand.
'I wonder what it tastes like?'
"I heard humans taste like pork or something. Wonder if that's true or not." [1]
[...I fail to understand the relevance of this information in our current discussion.]
"Oh. I was just curious about how I taste, is all. My hand is on fire and everything right, so, I wondered what we tasted like to Devils or any other Supernatural creatures for example."
[From a rational point of view, the human body is far from being nutritious. Fish, cows, birds, bears, and beavers all contain more calories per pound of muscle than humans do and they provide no form of benefits that other protein-based beings can provide with.]
"Didn't think you would actually answer me seriously. But I should have guessed that you would say something like that. Hmm and from a supernatural point of view?"
[Creatures who nourish themselves from humans' blood or flesh do not consume them for the nutrients in the body but for the power of life and the soul that humans are able to provide them with. Generally, only undead-related species feel the need to drink the blood of humans or devour them to replenish their reserves.]
"...As for devils?"
[They only do so for the pleasure of torture or when they are in need of energy to sustain their existence on these planes.]
Adam looked down before chuckling helplessly. He would have never thought that one day he would be discussing cannibalism and the nutritional value of human flesh with an inorganic and robotic book spirit. Life was really strange, he thought idly in his mind.
Though, he had to admit that this was certainly quite an interesting topic.
Adam understood that because of how focused he had been on certain matters in the past, he was yet to truly focus on exploring the supernatural way more deeply.
He had only seen the darkness and evil that prevailed and permeated the supernatural world. The cruelty and cutthroat way of thinking and the survival of the fittest that was the norm.
But he knew that this couldn't be all that consisted the entirety of the supernatural side.
Since he could see that in his University alone many supernatural beings were admitted as students and even teaching staff while they lived their lives normally and only wished to not be disturbed by the others.
[Adam, your minds are wandering too much.]
"Sorry, sorry. You will have my undivided attention of at least one of my minds from now on."
Even as he spoke he moved out of the way to avoid a child that was running with a plane in his hand, playing the imaginary game that he was seeing with his mind and his alone.
Behind him was a young man and a look was enough for him to understand that it was the father of the child.
It was quite a cute sight but this was not particularly useful for him.
"Genesis, I was thinking."
[About?]
"If I need poison, don't I already have the perfect person for that?"
If he needed to build immunity to poison, what better way to do that than to go visit the greatest alchemist he knew of who incidentally was also capable of producing a super-killing poison from her blood alone?
If he really developed resistance to that poison, he doubted there would be many kinds of poison left in the world that would actually be able to harm him anymore.
That or he would simply end up suffering pain for nothing as his ability probably had certain other conditions that needed to be fulfilled before activating.
He doubted that increasing resistance or even obtaining immunity would take just a minuscule number of deaths. He would probably need to die hundreds of times just to see the slightest effects.
[Medusa is indeed the best person for the job. But you should understand that this might make her discover your secrets, right?]
Medusa was not a stupid woman. Her ability to read people and understand them was honed by thousands of years of experience that she had gathered throughout her life.
Thinking that he could fool her would be a foolish thought in itself.
"I want to be a King."
What a King needed more than anything else were subordinates and subjects that he could believe in to have his back in times of need.
"Sooner or later, my identity will be revealed and I refuse to live in hiding while fleeing for most of my life."
Adam had been observing a few things and he knew that not all Primogenitors were actually in a hostile relationship with humans.
At least, dwarves were friendly towards humans and Elves as well as Were beasts were technically neutral toward humanity as a whole.
[This is a relationship born from power. Friendship between two forces can only exist when the price necessary for war is too steep for them to pay.]
" —And this is why I need to build my force and my territory now. At the same time, I need to find people who will be loyal to me no matter what my identity is."
Recruiting Medusa on his side would be an extraordinary blessing. He knew at least that she held a great deal of influence in the medical world and she was rich.
Very Rich.
Stupendously RICH.
"Thinking about it, I don't have any cigarettes anymore now, do I?"
He truly lost a great deal in the explosion against that devil.
There was also the new lesson that he learned from the fight against the devil. When fighting, killing as fast as possible to avoid any form of surprise was the best way to go.
[So you will seduce her?]
Adam stopped for a moment and looked up.
He had wanted to stop working as a Gigolo under Yui. It didn't bring much money and he doubted that he would find many women willing to give him a 5 million pocket watch like Hae-Won.
But….
"I guess I can never escape from the fate of being a Gigolo."
Be it Shuri, Yui, or Medusa, and even possibly Bridget Bishop in the future.
There was even Eve and his mother in a certain way. [2]
As well as Theresa and Makoto.
Mooching off from women seemed to be his destiny, his calling in life, his fate.
So he would just need to embrace it.
"But first, I really need a gun."
He suddenly didn't know why he had burnt his hand in the first place. He should really be careful about letting his intrusive thoughts win.
[1]: Those are the words of the German cannibal Armin Meiwes. He is serving a life sentence for killing and eating a man who begged to be devoured and has described how the meat tasted of pork and how he prepared an elaborate meal of human steak in a green pepper sauce with croquettes and Brussels sprouts.
[2] He ain't speaking about his mom sexually. Just that she is a woman and his support. My dude was born a gigolo.
(AN: For this chapter, I wanna make something clear. Adam won't go speak carelessly about his secret. But he will eventually need people he can trust or at least control to back him up. A man cannot c
