After leaving Mark Adam thought back about Medusa.
There was a reason she was one of the first people he wanted to recruit to his cause.
Like Yui, Medusa was not a human so they would feel less reticence about him. After all; Cain was mainly considered an enemy by humanity.
He doubted Medusa had any heroic traits in her and in fact, she was a monster killed by a hero. Her desire for Hero did not change her disposition and the hero she was searching for in the first place was not a kind hero who helped save the world but simply a man who could affect the world.
If he had to be honest, he wished to start with Yui. He knew very well that she would not betray him — at least if everything was normal.
But sadly they were not. There was a problem with her or more like with her true mother. It was a hidden danger that he could not allow himself to neglect.
He clearly remembered Eve's small speech about how Cain basically attacked the Jade emperor's court alongside the Monkey King.
How epic this story was aside, he did not know what the stance of the court toward Cain was currently but Eve had clearly implied that they would not be too friendly to him.
Adam hated the fact that he was being punished for the crime of a father he did not even know and had never met but there was little he could do.
At the end of the day, he did not know what Yui's mother would do if his identity was revealed and he did not want to place her in an awkward situation. At least not now.
Medusa meanwhile was the complete opposite.
She was not really close to humans on one side and she also hated the gods or at least felt nothing but disdain and bitterness.
She was really a premium-grade target for a future ally. All he needed now was to be careful.
After all, he only had speculation and if he was wrong, he doubted he would have the power to fend off a Zodiac.
—
Pushing a door open after getting a pass, Adam found himself in what looked like a normal office in the depth of Los Angeles.
Further ahead, sitting on a chair he could see Medusa smiling at him.
"Hello, Doctor."
Adam spoke politely as he closed the door behind him while pointing his finger at the surrounding with a questioning look.
"It's alright there is no one listening".
Adam nodded and took a step.
"So, Adam, how have you been? Anything interesting lately?"
"I helped in stopping the summoning of Lucifer."
"...."
The smile that had been on her face froze for an instant as the information tried to sink in.
"I beg your pardon?"
She asked again, wondering if she had heard wrong but Adam's answer came back again without hesitation.
"Oh…"
Medusa lowered her head as an explosion of thoughts filled her mind, threatening to overwhelm her.
'Is she shocked?'
Was that he thought at first?
But when he paid more attention, he could see that Medusa's face was becoming strangely flushed and her breathing became ragged, her prana moved as if she could hardly control her own power.
When she finally rose back her head, Adam nearly backed away by instincts, her eyes were now clearly that of a reptile and a large smile was on her face.
"I know I was right. Hahaha."
She stood up and placed her hands on the table while looking at him with so much luster in her eyes one would think he was the most precious treasure she had in her possession.
A laugh escaped her lips and it seemed to go on forever. It was only after a long while that she finally managed to calm herself down.
Her eyes swam as she took a notebook and started scribbling on it like she was possessed.
"I know I was right. I was sure of it."
She continued to mumble and twitch while her eyes gleamed.
'Genesis…Should I make a run for it?'
For the first time, Genesis was unable to utter any feedback. Even for him, the reaction of Medusa was beyond what he could understand.
Ignoring Adam, Medusa continued to write and write and write. From a certain perspective, her fingers moved as fast as lightning and one wondered if she would even tear the paper away.
"Finally…"
When she finished, Medusa placed back her pen and quietly breathed, her face was still flushed and it was even covered with sweat. He could see that her eyes were bloodshot and there were even tears of blood at the corner.
"What happened?"
"Do not worry. This is just a small punishment for trying to look at the Heavenly Secret. All seers have to pay for this pride and those who use it too much will become Blind."
She shook her head. She had answered by instinct but she truly did not care about this matter.
There was something that was much more interesting and important and she needed to share it.
"Do you know Adam? In the latest year, the action of the Devil Cult had quieted down considerably. Some thought that it was because of the action of your mother. After all, she did massacre many cults.
"Others think it's just normal and the result of their efforts to kill cults members."
She scoffed before focusing back on Adam, a smile threatening to split her mouth.
"Adam; I have two pieces of news. One very bad and a good one. What do you say?"
Adam wondered if it was really the right time to play around but he sighed and asked,
"The very bad news first."
"Well, Adam, if my calculations are right — and I am sure they are…"
"Yes?"
" —Then I can say with absolute conviction that an Apocalypse is incoming."
"Ah?"
"The good news is that it should only be a Class II apocalypse. Not bad, right? Humanity can survive at least."
Adam looked up at the ceiling. Wondering if he should have really come today.
