Years before Gates started to appear in the Hunter World, a brilliant young scientist existed—Hakase Yuri, she was called.
With her astonishing talent and genius, she made several contributions to human knowledge. One by one, she started the world with her light.
She was exceptional.
Eventually, however, Yuri became disillusioned with the world.
Though she was constantly showered with praise for the subtlety of her mind, none of her ideas ever received even the slightest support from the scientific community.
She was not given enough heed.
"We should not be striving to develop human civilization, buildings, comfort, or even technology but rather the artificial evolution of humans as a species!" Sёarᴄh the Novelƒire(.)ne*t website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
That was the only dream she ever had, her ideal, but not a single person came forward to help her fulfill that dream. Everyone, every scientist and all their ancestors were chasing dreams of finding new technology and earning more money.
Mobile phones, cameras. All of those things were useless. Humans themselves were not evolving.
Hakase Yuri became more and more hateful. This was not it, she had way better ideas. Humans can evolve like monkeys evolved to become humans. Humans can one day become gods.
What if human experiments had to be done to achieve that?
Some sacrifices had to be made to achieve greatness. Were all these scientists not going to research genome and DNA using human experiments?
Were they not going to try and achieve greatness?
What moral values? Bullshit.
She tried to change the world's mindset wildly.
No, we didn't need useless inventions that only made life more comfortable. We have to do research on other ends.
Her genius was… shunned.
Dangerous mind—She was labeled.
Mad Scientist.
Becoming hateful, the woman never stopped her research and did experiments where no one would find her.
She tried all sorts of tricks on humans to make them evolve from a place where no one would find her.
A heavy dosage of steroids, making humans reach 0% body fat, and just whatever she could imagine as a possibility.
She tried to evolve the human species by force.
All of the world was a disappointment. She was too intelligent and sharp. Only if she evolved the species itself could she have equals with whom she could happily speak.
The world wouldn't be full of monkey men, and she would finally see truly worthy humans.
Her attempts all failed. Humans never evolved.
That was when Gates appeared, and Hunters became a thing.
Unlike others who were in disbelief and crying, Hakase Yuri was ecstatic.
There it was, a way for Humans to evolve.
She immediately drugged a Hunter using some tactics and took him into her lab. She did a complete research on him.
How did he gain his ability?
Was there a chance for herself to gain it?
Can she become a Hunter?
That Hunter couldn't last long enough for her to complete her research, and he soon died.
From then on, Yuri has been trying to acquire a Demon to do her research. However, the Demons would just turn to ash when they moved out of the Dungeons, and inside the Dungeons, it was too dangerous a place to conduct research.
She was not a Hunter.
She was Hakase Yuri. A Genius Mad Scientist.
Professor Madness.
"And now…" a wide smirk stretched across her face hidden by darkness, only lit by the screen infront of her.
She looked at the monitor with deep black eyes. Her gaze couldn't help but shine as a speeding truck came into her sight.
Inside the truck were two demons, but for some reason, they were not turning into ash even though they were outside any Dungeon.
"How amusing." She sipped a green liquid and smiled.
Thankfully, she had cameras all over the area since she was afraid of cops heading her way, but today, it had caught this peculiar sight and she just couldn't help but see it as fate.
How wrong. A fucking mindless demon was driving a truck.
How could something unintelligent do that?
"Choi Sung," she said into a walkie-talkie. "This demon is different. It is intelligent. And it is headed in the direction of Country Q.
"The government still has no idea of its whereabouts, but it is headed your way—deal with it and bring the body to me before the pesky official Hunters make it a mess. If possible, bring it alive for me."
From the device, a calm voice replied, "Yes, Professor."

A huge truck honked through the traffic-less road and turned around the corner. The tires squeaked against the tar road, and Mark cautiously looked around.
It was now just five minutes more before he would enter demon territories.
Suddenly, Mark tensed, and his truck slowed down slightly. Golden eyes flashed as suddenly. The truck came to a screeching halt.
Tsss~
The sound of air leaking made him grimace, and Mark looked in front of him with gritted teeth.
His tire had been punctured with spikes that were thrown out of nowhere.
Thud. Thud.
Someone landed above the truck's roof, and Mark became even more tense.
That someone came to a halt. His foot rapped against the metal ceiling.
"Oh, Mr. Intelligent Demon sure is something else." The manly voice sounded unusually excited. "You learn something new every day, huh?"
Mark pulled Dona against him and hesitated for a brief second before he calmed down.
A Hunter? What Rank?
Is it that A-Rank Hunter?
"Oh, a Hunter from this puny world." Mark coldly asked, "How dare you stop my truck? Are you looking to die?"
Making them uncertain about his own strength should make them hesitate to attack. Being bold was better.
The person outside was stunned at the fact that a demon could talk and having anticipated the surprise, Mark jumped out of the truck and backed away from it. Dona was tight on his back.
He could finally see his enemy.
It was a young man who was squatted above the white truck. His body was covered in crimson armor, and lean muscles were all over his physique. There was a sunglass over his eyes, with one side of it broken.
Through the broken part of his glass, blue light shimmered. His gaze was shining brightly at night.
Mark could now see his stats. Mark could now see what kind of Hunter this man was.
"I am Hunter Choi Sung." The young man introduced himself and took away his broken sunglasses. Blue eyes shimmered as he continued: "and you demon stand no chance against me. I will utterly decimate you. I'll win."
Mark's golden eyes dimmed slightly.
