The two witches arrive at the modern house on the rooftop of the Golden Summit building. Right now Wrath even sees the golden mountain top situated above the house. It's a good thing that the decorated golden mountaintop was above the house.
Otherwise, it would have reflected the sunlight at the house to the point that no one could live in the house without sunglasses. It's a good thing that the mountaintop was designed to annoy other people, not the people who live here.
Because even at night, the spotlight that shone on the golden mountain top was still nearly as annoying as it was in the day.
There have been many cases in the past where the people around here, especially the CEO and businessmen who work in the surrounding area have their egos disturbed by the sight of the mountaintop or just couldn't live with too much light reflecting on their window.
They had decided to petition the mayor, but unknown to them, the mayor was just a lap dog of Greed herself, so instead of getting rid of the mountaintop. The mayor promoted the Golden Summit as the iconic landmark of San Francisco instead.
Now after the two witches had eaten their dinner and changed their clothes to pajamas, They sat on the sofa opposite each other while playing Uno with a large bowl of popcorn between them.
"So… How long will you stay here this time?" Greed asks her friend while chewing on the popcorn and staring at the "Wild draw 4 cards.", looking at her hand she only has three cards left while Wrath has about 15 cards in hand.
This is not the first time Wrath stayed with Greed and enjoyed their time, she used to live here for a few years after she blew up the royal palace in the Tessia Kingdom.
At that time, Greed was the one who bailed Wrath and helped with her case in The Hightower Court in return for Wrath becoming her personal bodyguard and working for her from time to time.
This resulted in their friendship becoming closer and closer and one could say they had become close friends.
"A few days, a week at most. I can't leave him alone." Wrath gives her reason. And played a "Draw 2 Cards" but then got a "Reverse" from Greed in return, which made her face contort like she just chewed on a bug.
"Yeah, since you said he's a master Artificer, he shouldn't have time to learn how the mage fights. Since he's only thirty." Greed agrees with her friend and then continues.
"But, don't forget to leave some time for you to rest and recuperate. After you complete your end of the bargain, you should be in a weakened state for a few days. Since you lost both of your blood and magic essence." Greed gave her friend a warning.
"Yeah, I know. but before I get weakened, do you want me to help you with the problem at the front line?" Wrath asks.
"Tempting offer, but no. I already contacted the enforcer from the Hightower to watch over the frontline as this is the war of the mundane world.
If during this time Pride dares to use people from the Curtained World or better, come to the front line herself. She will have a serious problem with The Hightower." Greed refuses the offer with a smile.
"What about you? You come to visit me, do you need me to help you with something?" Greed inquired.
"Yeah, Where is Sloth? I need her help." Wrath asks.
"Sloth?" Greed repeated. "Well, after she had developed a new Anti-Pride weapon for me, she took a long vacation and went to the Maldives. Don't know when she will come back."
"Ah… she sure is worthy of her name." Wrath let out a chuckle at Sloth's behavior.
"What about Gluttony then? Where is she now?" Wrath asks again.
"Gluttony? Ummm… I think she's in Japan right now." Greed recalled.
"How on earth is she in Japan? Isn't that place isolated from the world? I remember that their policy of self-isolation never changed after the Tokugawa Shogunate won the Boshin war. Didn't she know that they threatened to release The Orochi if they ever found a foreign mage on their soil?"
Wrath's question was reasonable, because, after the Boshin war, Japan never opened its border, not even once. Even when their country has a large earthquake or was damaged by a giant tsunami. They never ask for help from other countries.
Resulting in Japan becoming the only place on earth that is devoid of The Hightower influence.
"Well, I don't know why but during this time, Japan started to accept foreign tourists and even mage in limited numbers to visit their country. I think they are starting to consider the option of opening their country.
And you know how Gluttony is. She heard that the place has an exotic dish called Sushi, which is basically a piece of raw fish meat placed on top of a small ball of rice. I think you can guess what happens next when she knows about such a dish." Said, Greed.
"I see…"
Wrath nodded and started to think about how to go from now on. She needed a mage of high status equal to her and Montgomery who was the president of Montgomery Auction House and one of the councilors in the Hightower.
pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ The mage she trusted enough was Greed, Gluttony, Sloth, and also Lust. Even though she doesn't like Lust much. But she knows that Lust can be trusted and can be relied on when it matters.
"Lust is still available, you know, she is always idle and wasting her breath in Hollywood." Greed let out a teasing smile.
"No Thanks, she will be the last one on earth that I'm going to ask for help." Wrath answers blandly.
Then, she begins to turn toward Greed who chuckles at her reaction when she mentions Lust.
"You know that I still have a lot of job and business deals to negotiate, right?" Greed said, stopping what her friend was hoping for.
Wrath felt depressed, she needed another mage to vouch for Daniel fast, but it seems she needed a longer time than she had expected.
Suddenly, the space on the ceiling above them was distorted and 4 black figures went past the ceiling rushing toward the two Witches with the daggers in both their hands.
Wrath Immediately activates her prepared spell "The Disintegration Shield". The Black-Red Shield appears, surrounding both her and Greed who are still chilling on how to play the next card as if the situation in front was happening in a boring TV show.
This is not the first time she got an assassination attempt by someone who hated her while she was enjoying some relaxing time when she was with wrath.
Because when Wrath was not around, she would usually stay in her secret bunker and do her work through the network and have a meeting via video conference.
And when she needs to go somewhere, she will have an army of experts, both mage and normal people following her around. That's why she enjoys Wrath's company so much.
After all, she was the weakest amongst the 7 Deadly Sins Witches and also yielded the richest benefits when she died. So the people who wanted her death were more than she can count until she stopped bothering about it.
One of the black figures was faster than the other and half of his body went through the shield, disintegrating his entire body in the process. The other two change their direction mid-air and retreat to keep their distance from the shield.
The last one charges its magic power through the dagger and pierces toward the shield, cracking it in the process.
At that moment, wrath waves her hand, and "Fu-gen no Haradachi" flew into her hand. In the split second, she was to attack the nearest assailant and the blade was out of the scabbard only half a millimeter.
It was a slash through both the arm and neck of the assailant who wanted to destroy her shield like she was slicing through the air.
"What!?" One of the assailants blurted out as they were startled at the scene in front.
Because other than the mana fluctuation on the shield, they did not sense any sign of the spell that had been used.
Other than the assailant, Greed was also startled at this scene, because Wrath was not the one who would go out of her way to polish her skill. She only has her overwhelming power and beast-like battle instinct.
"Shit! Wrath got stronger! Retreat! Retreat!" One of them shouts and the two immediately retreat but then Wrath immediately follows them.
[Kill only one of them and let the other go, I need someone to tell the other that you are getting stronger.] Greed sent her telepathy to Wrath as she smiled sweetly, the plan was formed in her little head to make use of this chance to the fullest.
