?The Onmyoji at the edge of the circle quickly scattered and retreated to a safe distance. One of them looked at the nearby truck with a very large container.
"Do it! Release him! Otherwise, we will not survive this... Argh!" Another Onmyoji shouted before a throwing knife embedded deep into his neck, ending him.
The surviving Onmyoji didn't wait; they quickly formed a hand seal. Their hand seals were different, but it was the code they needed to unleash whatever was inside the truck.
"My lord! They're trying to unleash something sealed within that armored truck!" Reuko, residing in Daniel's blade, quickly informed him.
Knowing this, Daniel didn't wait for the Onmyoji to finish whatever they were doing. He immediately unleashed all the blade drones within his universal pocket. He jumped up to the sky, opening a large space under his trench coat, releasing all the blade drones stored inside.
Like a mantle made of a river of blades, the swarm of blade drones flowed out from the space in his trench coat. With precision that avoided even touching his clothes, all the blade drones rushed toward the Onmyoji.
"What! What's that!! He can use space magic!" The Onmyoji were alarmed at Daniel's display of power and tried to increase the rate of their hand seal, but it was too late.
Slash! Slash! Slash! Slash! Slash! Slash! Squished!
All the Onmyoji were reduced to minced meat along with their summoned Oni. However, the moment the last Onmyoji died, all the magic and enchantments holding back whatever was inside the truck were broken.
Roaarrrrr!!! Booom! Booom!
The thing inside the truck roared like a beast, trying to break the armored container from the inside.
Booom! Booom! Booom! Booom!
Within a few more booming sounds, a red silhouette of a large man, a little over 2 meters tall, jumped out of the truck. His body was fully covered in Japanese blood-red armor with a red demonic mask and helmet. The eyes shone red, filled with nothing but rage.
Rooooooooooooaararrr!!
A beastly roar thundered once again before the large man in the red demonic armor rushed toward the swarm of blade drones.
"Is... is he crazy?" Gluttony uttered in surprise as she watched the fight from the building above.
Boooooooooom!
But instead of the scene where the large man in red armor was torn to pieces by the swarm of blade drones, it was the swarm of blade drones that turned into a large pile of scrap metal with one punch.
Of course, the armor was not unscathed either; the moment it received a cut from the blade drone, it got scratched. But, within a few seconds, the scratch started to mend, and finally, it was completely repaired, like new.
Daniel, standing high on a lamp post on the street, felt a little startled at the scene of the armor's self-mending effect.
Toughness: 7>>9
Flavor Text: Heracles, the indomitable embodiment of human spirit, stood resolute against the mightiest of gods. Each blow forged a legend, each scar a testament to his unwavering resolve.
[Wait... What!? It's Heracles!? Does this mean that the guy in that red armor is Heracles!? No wonder he can scrap those blade drones made of Atlantean steel!" Daniel screamed inside his mind. These blade drones only have a strength equal to 4 and toughness at 2. It is normal for them to be easily scrapped by Heracles.
[That 9 should be the stat he got from wearing that armor, and the 13 should be from his ability at work. He has 4 more increases in power from attacking the blade drone. Now what should I do?] Daniel thought to himself. His knowledge of Archmage made him have a lot of knowledge, but that is only in the realm of Western magic.
He didn't know if he tried to undo the magic, what would happen to Heracles. This is Onmyoji magic after all; he might unknowingly trigger a fail-safe and harm Heracles instead.
So, he quickly looks at his hand to see if there are any cards that can be used.
In his hand, there are 7 cards; 4 of them are lethal spells and cards that allow him to use other people's spells. Since these can't be used, there are 2 more cards that can return a card on the field to its owner's hand, and the last one is...
Card: Water Binding
Picture: Tentacles of water binding Atlanteus in Atlantean Power armor.
Rarity: Common
Type: Quick Spell
Mana Cost: 1 Water
Description: Tap target creature until the end of the turn.
Flavor text: "In the ebb and flow of the arcane tides, even the mightiest can be ensnared, their strength harnessed by the fluid embrace of water's binding grace."
[This is the one!] Daniel then begins to utilize the card. Since he didn't have any properties here, he needs to use the mana he had stored in advance to cast this spell. Daniel quickly opens one of the mana vials and converts it into water mana.
Whoosh!
The moment the card is activated, tentacles of mana sprout from the ground, breaking through the concrete road. It seems that the tap water from the pipe listens to the command of the spell, binding Heracles.
Roooooooooooaaaaarrrrr!!
Heracles roars once again and tries to break free from the spell binding. The water that is binding him becomes more and more stringent, holding him in place. The water can't be broken, and it also can't be cut; that is the nature of water. Surprisingly, it can restrict Heracles' power and keep him in place.
"What!? Now he can use water!? Did Envy teach him water-
based magic!? No... Envy didn't know water Magic that can bind other people. She can only freeze the water to restrict someone," Pride, who is watching the fight along with Gluttony, analyzes, then immediately uses her gift to check the magic structure of the spell Daniel used.
The magic structure of the spell is like the foundation of a pyramid, very sturdy. She's sure she needs at least ten minutes' worth of gathering her mana to make a dent in that robust structure.
"That... magic structure... is so exaggerated!" Pride utters in disbelief. Now, she's sure that her trick of destroying other people's magic structure to break their spells is useless against Daniel. She needs to find another way to counter him if she were to happen to fight him in the future; they are on different sides in the war, after all.
