Chapter 399: Sea Calamity Vs. God of Calamity - 01

Patrick pushed through the pain, scrambling to escape from the fiery beast's grasp. He attempted to communicate with the beast using the language of beasts that he had learned from his elf mother, but to no avail. The beast continued its slow advance, drooling in anticipation, showing no urgency as it already had Patrick ensnared within its fiery lasso.

"Hehehe," the beast panted, its breath sounding like a twisted laugh as it licked its lips, drool dripping onto Patrick's head, eager for the impending meal.

With its fiery lasso, the beast pulled Patrick closer, its mouth gaping wide as it inched towards Patrick's head. Slimy drool coated Patrick's face as he braced himself for the pain he knew was coming.

"Sat! What on earth are you doing!?" A familiar voice thundered from behind the beast.

At the sound of this voice, the beast hastily stepped back and transformed into its dog form. A comical black fur patch covered one of its eyes amidst its otherwise white fur, resembling a Dalmatian but with longer fur denoting a mixed breed.

The fiery beast, possessing the power of a Hell Lord, was none other than Sat, a mischievous dog with a penchant for pranks, especially on Patrick whom it didn't particularly like. Despite knowing that Patrick wasn't its actual prey, Sat couldn't resist the opportunity to tease the human who had caused its little lady master some discomfort with that abominable contraption called a bicycle.

Whimper

Sat quickly acted cute, wagging its tail and sending puppy eyes towards the source of the voice, Greed, one of its lady masters. Sat approached Greed, nudging her with its nose and exposing its belly in a display of cuteness.

"Bad dog! You knew it was Patrick all along and yet you still pranked him. Naughty dog!" Greed scolded, though her smile betrayed her words as she struggled to contain her laughter after witnessing Sat's antics with Patrick.

"Wait, that's Sat!? What in the world!? Did Daniel raid Mammon's domain and bring back a new type of Hellhound as a souvenir!?" Patrick exclaimed, quickly wiping Sat's saliva from his head and face.

"Well..." Greed paused for a moment, contemplating her response. It wasn't precisely like that, but she wasn't sure if Daniel wanted Patrick to know the full story. "Something along those lines," she replied with a shrug. After all, Sat was ultimately a creation of hell, so Patrick's statement wasn't entirely off base.

Patrick regarded Sat and Greed skeptically, then cast a water spell to clean his face, deciding to let the matter slide. He didn't want to provoke that troublesome dog any further.

"Is everyone safe?" Patrick inquired.

"Yes, with Sat around, those people can't do anything," Greed confirmed, nodding at Patrick.

— Golden Empire Tower —

On the rooftop of San Francisco's tallest building, the Golden Empire Building, Envy sat on the rooftop floor surrounded by a magic circle. This circle was vital as it allowed her to channel the immense mana from the Chromatic Philosopher's Stone that Daniel had entrusted to her as Sat's treat.

The mana construct took the shape of the eight-headed snake, a colossal structure that was large but slightly smaller than Scylla. It was a far cry from the real Orochi, which was said to be the size of the entire Japan. This difference was because Koyuki only had one soul fragment within her body out of the eight sealed around Japan.

For the first time in San Francisco, the visage of the God of Calamity, Yamata No Orochi, was revealed for all the people to see. The mana construct slowly descended to the bay where Scylla awaited. A thunderous roar from the God of Calamity reverberated throughout the San Francisco Bay area.

As if issuing a challenge, Scylla screamed back at the Orochi Mana Construct, its six monstrous heads roaring in response. The two sea monsters, Calamity and God, locked eyes, each seemingly trying to discern the other's weakness.

"Okay... let's see what Scylla can do," Koyuki, suspended within the Orochi Mana Construct, began controlling it with hand signs to unleash one of Orochi's powers.

Roaaarrrr!!!

The Orochi roared loudly, causing dark clouds to gather overhead as electricity crackled and thunder rumbled within them, gathering power.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Several large thunderbolts descended from the sky toward Scylla below, punishing the sea monster with thunderous strikes. However, Scylla only suffered superficial burns. One of Scylla's heads then opened its mouth, unleashing a purplish fireball at the floating Orochi.

Boom!

The purple fireball exploded, its power starting to corrode the mana construct. Koyuki quickly used her mana to repair the damage inflicted on her mana construct.

"Tch! It's too weak, huh? How about this!" Koyuki clicked her tongue before making another hand sign, this time taking a few seconds longer.

The thundering sound of electricity crackling in the sky echoed louder this time. It took more time to gather energy, but soon, a brilliant blue light began to shine in the sky, growing larger and larger until it coalesced into a single point. Then, like a divine judgment, the gathered energy of hundreds upon hundreds of thunderbolts descended toward the sea monster below.

Boooooooooooooom!

The thunder struck squarely at Scylla's head, burning it as the large blue bolt engulfed half of Scylla's body and vaporized the water below with its intense heat.

Screeecchhhh!

Scylla roared in agony as its female head and parts of its body vaporized under the thunder's burning assault. The thunder lingered for a few more seconds before vanishing. Now, Scylla was left with only half of its body, yet it remained alive, and the vaporized portion began to regenerate itself.
