Chapter 272 Things Going South
"As I expected, the demons are attacking these cities and slaughtering their inhabitants to gather pure chaos energy, and they will not stop any time soon." Elder Darrien said solemnly, holding a dark crystal covered in ominous runes and pulsating with pitch-black energy.
"This explains how they plan to use the chaos spawn, but such a forceful infusion could only temporarily increase the creature's strength. It wouldn't be sufficient to accomplish their goals."
"At best, The creature would be able to create some disturbance, but eventually, the chaos energy would burn out, and the creature would either be killed or sealed once again." Lady Margaret said, keeping her eyes on the ongoing chaos in the city.
"Is it possible that the demons could create a modified heart for the chaos spawn using the gathered pure chaos energy? Something that could make the chaos spawn regain its lost abilities?" Lady Margaret questioned after a moment of silence.
"Unless the demons possess a completely preserved chaos heart, there is no way to restore the chaos spawn's true strength." Elder Darrien shook his head, his voice tinged with certainty.
"So, Do you think the demons have one?" Lady Margaret asked.
"Once separated from its host, the chaos heart would crumble to dust and energy if not supplied with a constant stream of pure chaos energy, and even though the chaos invasion ended ten thousand years ago,"
"I can confidently say that there are a few remaining chaos hearts in the world, either preserved in nature or in a private collection." n0velusB.C0m
"So it is very much a possibility that demons have a chaos heart, but using it means unleashing a creature that grows the more death and destruction he causes and is capable of turning the human continent into a wasteland," Elder Darrien said, in grim tone.
"At this point, I don't even understand what Ahrimon is planning," Elder Darrien said, his always cold, emotionless eyes carrying a mix of worry and confusion.

As the barrier started to crumble under the relentless assault of the demon commanders, the demons surged forward with an unquenchable thirst for bloodshed.
The demons, driven by their goal of destruction, tore through anything in their path, killing thousands of unfortunate citizens who had not managed to evacuate in time and were hiding in their homes.
Amidst this nightmarish scene, Lady Zefney found herself in a dire situation, knowing that she couldn't reach the protected sectors in time and abandoning her friend to save herself was the only option, one that many might have chosen in such desperate circumstances.
However, Lady Zefney opted for a riskier course of action, and with her friend, she hid in one of the mentions that were not directly in the way of the approaching demons.
Once inside, she drank a potion that masked her presence, which diminished her presence before making her friend drink the potion, making it less likely for the majority of demons to sense them.
It was a risky gambit, but Lady Zefney was willing to take that chance to save her friend's life.
Alex stayed nearby, keeping eyes on her while using a potion to diminish his presence and an invisibility potion, turning invisible, waiting for an opportunity.
Alex watched as the demons closed in on Lady Zefney's position, unaware of her presence while hunting down any citizens and soldiers they caught.
After waiting for a few minutes, an opportunity presented itself to Alex to save Lady Zefney, but it wasn't the kind of opportunity he had hoped for.
'This is bad,' Alex thought as he watched an army captain flash through the air before crashing into the manor that Lady Zefney was hiding inside.
The captain that crashed into the manor came out of nowhere, and Alex didn't need to think much to realize the bigger picture, so without any delay, he used the phantom walk and moved toward the manor.
Alex raced toward the hiding place of Lady Zefney while swiftly chugging down an Elixir of Vital Renewal potion, and moments later, the manor was bombarded with tens of giant fire spheres, erupting into blazing infernos upon impact.
Alex picked the two terrified ladies in time, but before he could exit the manor, the whole manor was engulfed with intense flames.
In the brief moments it took for Alex to reach safety, the two women had suffered severe burns and had slipped into unconsciousness while he endured the excruciating pain of his flesh continuously burning and regenerating.
Alex left the burning manor and, with the unconscious ladies on his shoulder, sprinted through the streets and made his way into a mansion while also attracting the attention of many demons on the streets.
'I don't know if I am unlucky or luck was not on her side for her to get caught in the battle between two peak fifth Rank warriors,' Alex thought as he entered the garden area of the mansion.
Alex quickly lowered the two severely burnt and unconscious women to the ground and then retrieved two vials of potions and carefully poured them over their injured bodies.
Alex observed as the ethereal golden liquid was absorbed into Lady Zefney and her friend's bodies, swiftly restoring them to life and stabilizing their condition.
'This should do the trick,' Alex used a fifth-rank scroll to create a barrier around the two unconscious ladies before preparing to defend himself and their lives.
'Ruler pride'
'Summon Elemental'
Alex started the summoning of an elemental before firmly gripping his sword, sensing the hordes of demons approaching his location, and moments later, a fiery demon descending from the open roof.
Alex moved like a phantom, plunging his sword covered in null energy into the demon's eye, claiming his life before moving toward the demon rushing from the front entrance.
Alex used his mana sense to keep track of the demons entering the garden and pick the weakest among them, killing them in a single, well-aimed strike while waiting for his elemental to arrive.
After a few moments, the number of fourth Rank demons in the garden grew to ten, with the total number of demons being over fifty.
After a minute passed, Alex's kill count had reached thirty, which only attracted stronger demons who sensed their brethren getting slaughtered.
The demons, seeing the two ladies that Alex was protecting, started throwing attacks at the barrier, forcing him to use area-wide skills to slow the demons down and even physically defend against the attacks.
The following two minutes, he was passed gruelingly, with Alex losing half of his health and even the barrier reaching the brink of destruction when the simmon pool vanished, putting a smile on his face.
The summoned creature was an Earth Oger, a ten-foot-tall humanoid creature with small tusks protruding from his lower jaw and two horns on his forehead with his frame covered in dense muscles.
Alex ordered the order to start killing the demons, and using his spiked mace, the ogre started crushing the demons, drenching the garden in various colors of blood.
The two ladies had yet to regain their consciousness. When Alex was about to tell the ogre to break the barrier, pick them up, and follow him to the protected district, a dense bloodlust descended on him, making him stop thinking and look toward the sky.
"You pesky little rat don't know your place, do you," The demon fiend floating in the sky said as he looked down on Alex.
'**** ***** ****,' Alex cursed, looking at the two demons, both being at the early stage of fifth Rank, floating above him.
